35:23 In her comics right after this scene here, Atom Eve says with tears in her eyes: "For one moment I had the power. I could have fixed it. ..I could have brought you back. But I used it for revenge instead. ..I'm sorry mom and dad. ..I love you." Maybe the could have kept those lines, for an even greater impact.
Also, as her last standing brother dissolves, he says (in her comics) "...They don't care about us now. ..Now they have you. ..Goodbye, Eve." right before he disintegrates. Maybe they could have kept that line as well.
With Omni-Man , had Marks powers never showed he could have waited a bit and lived a normal human life span with Debbie and Mark. For him it would be just like a long weekend. However when Marks powers kicked in he had to up his time table before Mark grew in power and possibly side with the Guardians. He's torn between thinking how stupid Mark and Debbie / humans are but also how much he loves them when he shouldn't. I'm glad that you all understood that phase 2 thru5 were children who had lived their short lives only hearing how perfect Eve was. Ironically "older Sister" had grown up always hearing what a disappointment she was.
@thereactpack You might recall that the green hero's power (the Green Ghost) came from ingesting a green gem or amulet, meaning her superpowers aren't her own but the amulet's and so anyone can be the Green Ghost.
Invincible is Kirkman's love letter to superhero comics and so this is a nod to the heroes that have had predecessors/successors (namely, and most obviously, the GREEN Lanterns). The woman Green Ghost that we see at the start of Invincible is the successor of the man Green Ghost we see in this opening scene of the Special, which takes place around 17 years in the past.
We don't know how or why the Green Ghost of the past stopped being the Green Ghost and how she came to be his successor, there are aspects of the show and the special that are new, expanded upon or changed from the comics (for instance in the comics the Green Ghost that gets killed with the rest of the Guardians is a man and has only been on the job for a month).
That's very interesting.
This special was so damn good. Not only did it get me major hyped for the new season of Invincible, but made me love Eve even more. She is such a prime badass. I hope the show does right by her and takes her character into a new better direction than the sorcuce materiel. She is an very epic bosslady.
Eve can't alter (or make) living animals or people (well, she _could,_ but her mental blocks won't let her, except in extremely stressful or emotional circumstances like in this episode), including herself. Plants and food (even animal based, as in the burgers she made) are fine, though.
Ye can manipulate organic material but not living material.
@@SolitaryLark Plants are alive an she can manipulate them just fine (at least in the adaptation, I'm not so sure about the books).
@@mbpoblet pretty sure she makes a tree house in a tree not manipulates the tree. She can make and manipulate wood it just can’t be alive when she does it.

Invincible Season 2 starts November 3
They made this so much better than the comic version. The comic version is like 2ish pages. Oh i also find it interesting that everyone forgets what Sam said. That her family "forgot" her birthday but they were planning a surprise party for her. I feel if they werent so shitty....then MAYBE it wouldve been better
The comic version is a two issue miniseries... so about _50ish_ pages, which this special adapted pretty much panel by panel.

Wow the emotions in this one episode is a handful! I might be in the minority, but this is my favorite episode from the entire series so far. I absolutely loved this episode, and I can't wait for Season 2 this early November.

Eve's story seems analogous to someone in the autistic spectrum with the way she was treated as a "freak weirdo" by her dad for being hyper focused on a subject

I hate to be the guy that talks about "realistic" in a superhero show but it's wild that none of those cars on the freeway stopped. You're telling me every single one of those drivers saw a pink wizard fighting abominations and was like "Yep, full speed straight ahead, no problems here"?
That's super realistic people are self centred and crazy drivers especially in certain states. You're just lucky enough to not experience that
@@magortom yup you're right, the douche in his F-150 is definitely going to hard lean on his masculinity issues and drive into a teenage girl and a literal monster causing extensive damage and mayhem on the highway. Ditto with the housewife arriving home after running some errands in her Elantra. Are there people that won't stop? sure. But none of those cars in the show decided to and instead sped straight ahead. I'm not gonna argue too hard about what's realistic in a cartoon but to say any of that was "super realistic" is just flat out wrong lol
the latest John wick movie had the same dumb setup. None of those cars decided to stop or change course when they should have clearly seen/heard the gunfight going down ahead??? fat chance.
I'm sure you've gotten several comments by now of when season 2 releases this year so I won't bother telling y'all when but man I wish that day would come sooner lol. Loved that we got an origin story episode dedicated to Atom Eve and I hope we get more of these for some of the other main characters in the future as well.

@@drewferguson4787 Emphasis on the "living", hence her having no problems creating, for instance, hamburgers.
It's a _mental_ block, at any rate, not a physical one, so it only has to make sense in her head; whatever "living tissue" means to her, she can't touch; living plants somehow seem to fall outside of her definition.
Eve's dad is interesting because in a way he means well he just shows it in all the wrong ways

Many reactions seem to not notice Green Ghost was a woman in season 1. I've been wondering the mystery of the gender swap since this episode aired but haven't came across an answer.
Green ghost seemed relatively young to me in season one. Maybe like in her 20s right? So at this point she may have been like 17 or something. Probably took over for a parent. It was a green stone that she ate for the powers right?
S01 Green Ghost was new. She hadn't had the powers for long. The man was her predecessor (as far as I know, Kirkman never said why or how he quit/died. In the comic, there wasn't a woman Green Ghost, just the man.).
That beginning section is set 17 years in the past. It’s a play on how there have been multiple Green Lanterns, this male Green Ghost was the original, and eventually he was replaced by the new female one.

If you remember, she swallowed a green gem (a parallel to Green Lantern's ring) to activate her powers... so she probably got it from the Green Ghost we see in this episode, one way or another, and the powers and superhero identity with it.

I don't get why she thinks her parents would forget her birthday. I don't see how they COULD forget, since they thought she almost died as a newborn.
Cause they're shitty in almost every other aspect and grow less invested in her the more she turns out to be different than the person they wanted her to be. Eve feels their love is conditional which it is, so if she starts the day not having her birthday addressed, it's easy to think they forgot.
