It is beautiful! Nobody can tell you to leave. Yes, higher ground will be better drained (don't get tires stuck). We hired a 'water-witcher'/dowser, to come out to find a strong underground vein of water, then a well-driller to dig the well/line it, then a submersible pump & a petrol powered generator to pump the water to a galvanized (covered) stock tank set in the highest spot for gravity feed water. We dug a large pit (if digging gets hard, add water to soften the ground) & built a simple outhouse toilet. The trailers provided a good shelter. Give thanks.
Congratulations!!! It’s beautiful! With a river or stream is nice. I see a massive veggie garden. From one female to another just make sure you are protected financially. Don’t know if marriage is in the plans so take care.
A 200l water bladder can be folded up when there is no water in it. Just connect a pump and hose and pump it into your tanks. Best purchase on our travels. Congratulations on the land :) Very exciting
Congratulations! Considering the wetness (at least at this time of year) you might want to investigate raised beds. Beyond that, if you can find a cheap source of untreated wood or downed trees, you could do some research on Hugelkulture methods and keyhole gardens.
I am so envious of this. My long term plan is to up sticks from the West Country in England and move to the Scottish Highlands. First we have had Brexit which has trashed the housing market and now we have the pandemic. I am stuck with a house which is a lot larger than I need and a garden which is much larger than I actually use, and I have been working at home since the start of the pandemic. But, the small West Country town where I live is full of people from London and the South East because they can buy a full-sized house here for the price of a rabbit-hutch sized flat near to London and the pandemic will encourage even more to come. Maybe, just maybe, working from home will become permanent and I can finally achieve my aim.
Congrats Karen and Hayden! This is exactly what I am hoping to do in the next year or so, looking forward to the adventure. Wonderfully exciting that your new adventure has begun :-)
Hi, well congratulations on your purchase. Hope you will both be very happy. You have the makings of a nice little caravan / tent park there. That should help with the repayments unless you have some more surprises to reveal in the next video. Hello to Jack 👋.
congratulations as resourceful as you both are I am sure you will make great use of it and you have your own ideas on how to utilize it best luck and keep up the great job
Its a beautiful place to live near taumaranui, me and my wife own a home in tokoroa, and we love the central plateau region, hopefully you can flatten your land to have some place to be, and check if you can get electricity or some solar panels to run your homestead until you build your tiny home or full size home in the next few years
Wish you both more luck than I had. My first was a lake front in Northwest Maine. Did not know they only maybe had a week or two of summer in July. We went to camp on our turnout the last week of Aug. and one day it was 27 degrees F and snow, We were in a tent trailer with summer clothes really a "fun" time. Built a driveway and log cabin in short order ! One Thanksgiving it dropped to 40 below. Really cool ! Hope you fare better.
Hi guys and hi jack ( oh free water bless him) 😊 A massive congratulations to you all 💞 Many happy years ahead and wishing you all a healthy safe future From Ireland 🇮🇪 Xx
Things are getting better and better. I’m sure you’ll both sleep better in your bed at night having your own patch of land and peace of mind. Onwards and upwards.🌞👍🙏🇬🇧🌞
Congratulations. The minute I saw the stream, I thought of a ram pump to get water up to some hard standing for your vans. It could also be used for irrigation. Best of luck with your land.
No wonder you said 'it's colder here' once I saw where you were! Summer will be stonking there i'm sure. And it's your piece of earth and that's awesome. Well done to both of you. Kind of that pioneering spirit of those back in the day.
Wow, what a great idea .... how handy is Hayden, please tell us more about your plans for the land in the future. A house with a small NZMCA site would be amazing to see you guys build that up. Congratulations to you both. Well done 👍🏻
12:50 tempted to shift the caravan - I think you went wrong as soon as you drove onto the land ! I'd have aimed for the highest point and driven far enough to be over the top - still with plenty of space in front of me for moving off again. You, on the other hand, headed for the stream ! A tree would have been handy to put a water tank into !
Congratulations! Looks great and you have a nice running stream too. If it is flowing like that all the time then you have the means to produce your electric power year round, 24hrs a day. Micro hydro electric power is the best, beats solar hands down, and its cheaper too.
Wow, you two, well done 👍. What are you going to do with it, put in some hard standing?. Hey could you put in several and rent out pitches, it looks like you have a water source there🤔.Have you plans to build a house 🏡 or a cabin? How exciting and a completely new adventure. Wonderful, enjoy it, I’m sure you will, good for you🙌🏻
Oh my word, CONGRATULATIONS! Seems you have more freedom to do such brilliant stuff in NZ. I guess it wouldn’t be so beautiful and green if it didn’t rain so much. I love Jack’s positivity: ‘Free Water!’ :) Can’t wait to see what’s next. All the best
That’s great 😀There are so many restrictions with land ownership here in the UK. Here, I could put my van on there, but only stay for a small period of time before I would have to move it. It would get 10 times more complicated if I tried to build anything on it! Good luck to you both xxxx
Congratulations, it might help you to look into some homesteading youtube videos. also you might be able to use the water on your land with the use of filters to purify it. Also more solar power would help. You are doing something that I would love to do, except I am too old now.
Well done you three. Jack looks a really nice boy. Thank you for all of your blogs they are taking us from coronovirus craziness around the world to a story of freedom and beauty in a hideaway. Best Wishes from Liverpool UK.
Huge congratulations of course - and what an amazingly picturesque spot! Lovely.
Your turn next David - a nice quiet permanent mooring somewhere in the countryside?
Karen's spot has enough rain for a canal boat to Moor
Oh my yes. Karen the location is beautiful
Thanks David! Pretty exciting

Wow, sounds like you've got a great set-up!
Congratulations!!! So nice to have a base camp, finally. Jack is just darling. Best wishes to the new land barons. Greetings from California.
Thank you Janet!
It's a beautiful spot - you're both very blessed to be in such a lovely location to make your plans
Get yourselves some pallets and 5mm ply and make a floor for your awning keep your feet dry out of the grass
Congratulations!!! It’s beautiful! With a river or stream is nice. I see a massive veggie garden. From one female to another just make sure you are protected financially. Don’t know if marriage is in the plans so take care.
Yes a vegetable garden is needed!
Kind of risky buying land jointly with some random dude.
The son Jack seems like a nice boy.
Awesome development for Travelling K! That place looks really cool with the stream & surrounding peaks.
Thank you! It's a pretty spot.
A 200l water bladder can be folded up when there is no water in it. Just connect a pump and hose and pump it into your tanks. Best purchase on our travels. Congratulations on the land :) Very exciting
Exciting news! Well done from snowy Arizona (7500 ft elevation). Looking forward to seeing you develop your property -- all the best!
Oh so you’ll know what plants do best in cooler areas!
Yeah you!! Congrats!
Thank you!
Congratulations, all the best with your land. It's nice being able to put some roots down.
Thanks Glen!
There’s nothing like walking on your own land ! A wise move, congratulations !
Thank you Audrey!
Congratulations! I am so happy for you. We are glad we guessed correctly. Happy nesting.
haha there were a few good guesses!
Congratulations! Considering the wetness (at least at this time of year) you might want to investigate raised beds. Beyond that, if you can find a cheap source of untreated wood or downed trees, you could do some research on Hugelkulture methods and keyhole gardens.
Would be good to find free wood...
WOW what an amazing journey thanks for sharing . we hope and pray for much happiness on your new Land . Love and Light Sarah and Glenn

Hi, well congratulations on your purchase. Hope you will both be very happy. You have the makings of a nice little caravan / tent park there. That should help with the repayments unless you have some more surprises to reveal in the next video. Hello to Jack 👋.
That has crossed our minds 🤣
Terrific news! Looks like a beautiful spot. So good to have somewhere to put down roots. All the best to you both.

Wow! Congrats and it's a beautiful spot.
How wonderful! It looks like a beautiful spot and must feel nice to have a base of your own
Yes, our own base does feel great
I am looking forward to see the videos on how you will settle in and work the land.

Congratulations to you guys. The land is beautiful. Can’t wait to see what you got plan..xxx ❤️🇦🇺
Gratulations. Good start to realise your dreams. Some drainpipes in the ground towards the stream wil make the land dryer i believe.
You might need to backfill some of that land with gravel to make a house foundation.
Yes, we could look into drainage!
Wow....wow....fecking wow guys....
Amazing news and the land looks like a dreamscape 😆 well jell.....xx
Thank you! Pretty exciting!
Congratulations..that awesome, a lovely spot too
Congratulations keep living the dream
So very Happy for you two.

Think there was a reason it was still affordable 🤣 But I’m loving the area so far!

Yes grow some trees for privacy from the road. They will suck up some of that marsh water.
@@hellopolly2691 Martian trees will obviously be best for that.
Congrats to both of you. If you need a place to stay in New Plymouth, hit us up.
Ah good to know! Thank you
Congratulations karen and hayden for your land. Big kisses from France 🌞🌞
Your own slice of heaven! Congrats! Any good permaculture book will detail effective 'wet' land solutions. Well done! 🤗
Ah that's a good thought! Do need to research more.
Build a pond and raise tilapia in the wet area.
Congratulations
Looks like a great spot 😀
Thanks Kerry!
A great idea to get a plot of land to give you a solid base. Hope everything turns out well for you in this strange age we are in.
