@@winry2357 I'm not especially anxious around people (I mean, a little social anxiety but nothing crippling). In my case, I'm pretty sure my grocery store issues are related to the fact that I was grocery shopping when I found out my dad was half dead in the hospital (he recovered, thankfully). My larger point, though, is that specific actions can cause you problems without pointing to some fundamental inadequacy in you. To me it came off like he is embarrassed and feeling dumb and wanted some power back to make himself feel better so he tried to jab in the only way he could think of 🙄
Kudos to Caleb for taking this guy’s criticism of his show prep so well. It was kind of a wild accusation (though said politely by the guest) but on-camera and felt like a deflection. Caleb really does have a gift for communication and de-escalation.
That was wild. Caleb made it very clear he needed to stop eating out and stop taking out student loans. Didn't make him a budget? How is elementary math so difficult for so many adults??? Take your salary, deduct expenses, divy up what's leftover. It's so insanely simple. Dude is just allergic to accountability and addicted to playing the victim
My thought was like why wouldn’t you take the time to watch your old video and think about what you would talk about. That and folks that don’t even take the time to review their finances before hand. Like come a little prepared.
This guy actually blamed Caleb as the reason he didn’t progress since his original audit. Thinks his low-income background and financially illiterate parents are an appropriate excuse (which, depending on where he is in life can be valid), but then feels he should be able to bypass basic financial literacy that should be expected of a political candidate because of it… Mind-blowing. Maybe do a little more work on yourself and get all your ducks in a row before trying to manage a city of millions.
I can see all this changing his political views and his ideas on his own personal accountability. I wouldn’t want this guy to have any power in society tbh. He has low confidence and low ability to meet the basics, I know disabled people who handle life better, I couldn’t imagine what he can manage.
This is much deeper than not being told no. This is legit what happens when you go your whole life never getting your ass beat and humbled. This dude has never been made to feel human and recognize just how little he is. After that happens to someone, even once, they don’t act like this. From making $14 and hour to choosing course careers and making $50k + commission. From $17k in debt to now only $1700 in debt which will be gone be the end of December. Caleb is the goat!
Course careers is great. I’m still in the process of getting a job using what I’ve learned off course careers but it’s been a big game changer to open up this new opportunity. I’ve applied to enough jobs to be told I’m a excellent candidate so now it’s just a matter of time when I get a job within what I learned on course careers. Keep it going, you’re doing great.
Caleb I cut every single one of my credit cards in half tonight. I am staring down $18k in credit card debt. I have been binging your videos for the last week and it made me be honest about my situation. While I make upper middle class money by myself it gets squandered away in interest every month. Thanks so much for opening my eyes. Not a credit card person.
You can do it! My wife and I paid off $30K in credit cards and paid off both vehicles early; all on one income. You can do this!! If it helps, neither of us have a college degree.
"Not being the worst of the worst doesn't make you good." Thank you, Caleb, for spelling it out for this budding politician. He thinks that we SHOULDN'T judge his ability to govern based upon how he handles his personal finances? Of course we should! Here's an idea - "make a difference" for a decade or two, and THEN come back and run for office when you have something to show besides a graduate degree and a pile of credit card debt from eating out every meal.
The thing that really hit me was how (it felt like) he was trying to throw Caleb under the bus. “I didn’t get clear direction from you” - but later confessed he didn’t go back to watch the video? Come on man, if you’re serious those small bumps in the road won’t prevent some kind of progress happening.
I came to the comments at 45:39 to thank Caleb for saying what we are all thinking👏🏻👏🏻 This guy doesnt care about his own financial future and wants to be in politics.
What a piece of work to sit there and accuse Caleb of not having been prepared for his first financial audit and to say he didn’t get any clear guidance the first time around. I just watched his previous episode and Caleb gave him tons of good, easy to follow guidance. Caleb is the man for not having been extremely offended by that comment. I would not have played it as cool. This guy basically blamed Caleb for why he didn’t take control of his spending habits after the first financial audit. Like take some responsibility for your own life and future. Damn. The dude is hopeless and I would not trust him in office.
This fella is already a politician. Will never admit he is wrong, avoids questions, deflects, blames others and tries to be unaccountable…..outstanding!
He's clueless about individual finances, like CLUELESS. Caleb nailed it with the push, hinting at "dude, you don't have what it takes" if he has any minimal intention of managing public funds. I hope people in his District watch this. These are the type of people who fund their lifestyle with other people's money because they can't manage to do it by themselves.
He should get his finances in order FIRST before becoming a candidate. I never understood how people can run for office, win, and have such horrible finances. Whereas those of us who as career Federal employees must undergo either a background investigation or security clearance to include a credit check.
It's a constitutional thing. Putting any kind of test requirement, besides for citizenship and age, on candidates could be used by a ruling party to knock out the competition. They could also be used against minorities.
This guy is running for my district. It's funny seeing all the restaurants he's spending money at. A good list of some places I want to try out some time lol
It's so interesting he talks about the student lifestyle like it's aimless spending and eating out. I always thought "living like a student" meant living on ramen (because it's cheap) and sleeping on a mattress on the floor (because you're broke).
I couldn't believe it when he started in on how Caleb could've done more for him. You're 26 years old with a masters degree, do you need him to hold your hand?
@@tobygrim7136 But his hand WAS held. It's one thing to whine about things being hard, it's another to just lie because he wants someone else to blame.
A lot of people have touched on it, but in the US, we get kicked out of the military for being financially unstable or having something in collections. It means something that he knows what it is like to live paycheck to paycheck and can relate to the "every day person". With that being said, if one isn't allowed to defend their country due to financial instability, why should they be allowed to be in charge of it? Just my two cents.
Maybe they shouldn't get a hellcat at 20% interest, run up credit cards on energy drinks, and buy property when they have no intention of paying their bills 😬
This guy would have made a great politician: he’s evasive, bad with finances, blames everyone else for his problems, and doesn’t listen. He will never actually be a politician because he just showed us all of those qualities in the audit. I hope he is sincere about fixing his finances, but the proof will reveal itself in time.
What a mess. Who would actually vote for this guy?! He can't manage his own finances...and when confronted about it, he gets defensive. Thank goodness Caleb called him out on it. There is already so much waste in city government. This guy would probably order out everyday and bill the city! I can't believe he actually tried to blame Caleb for not giving him a plan last time. Dude you sure you did not have and continue to have an income issue? Not having money because one does not outpace expenses is very common and some can't win because they don't make enough.....
@@donaldlyons17 Income is part of it but let’s not allow a less than satisfactory income to be an excuse. “Income issue” is not the heart of the problem. That excuse is what gets people into making excuses to not pay THEIR debt. The main problem in hand isn’t income, It’s behavioral, lack of financial literacy, and lack of financial discipline. People make financial obligations that they simply can’t afford. Therefore they’re the problem. Sure this could be an endless hole of debate but what it all comes down to is, the decisions YOU make for YOUR financial situation is what gets you where you are or eventually will be. The guy is wrong too. Governing your own finance shows a sense of discipline and responsibility. I would never vote for someone who's massively in debt and deflects blame to everyone else
Blaming Caleb's "lack of new advice" is like going to a health coach and they say "here's a meal plan. Eat this food in these portions and then do this workout 3 times a week and you will lose weight and be healthy" and since it's nothing fancy, you just ignore it and say they scammed you. There's no big secrets. It's just about controlling your spending, making decent money and saving up what's left
Even if the political office he’s going for does not directly deal with finances, you never want to have a politician who is vulnerable to outside monetary influence.
If you are not in the financial market space right now, you are making a huge mistake. This guy needs to take accountability and stop mentioning others shortcomings as the reason for his situation. He was told to cut out the nonsense food spending. It was 1000% on him for not correcting that. "Poor me, you didnt give me a plan caleb, you werent prepared!" Get outta here.
To build on this - also, so what if other guests have worse situations? Some of those folks paying insane interest rates actually seemed willing and hungry for Caleb’s help (unlike this dude). His inability to take responsibility for anything is exhausting.
I agree with the personal financial critique. Too many are in government that weren’t responsible with their finances prior to getting a job on the tax-payers tit, then they vote for more handouts and to have their liabilities “forgiven”.
Hey Caleb as someone who is currently on the SAVE plan for student loan repayment I just wanted to let you know that you are misinterpreting what the plan actually does. If you are on the SAVE plan interest does NOT accrue. Depending on your income your minimum monthly payment is also very very low. For borrowers that make under 37,000$ a year the minimum monthly payment is 0$. Being that this guy only makes about 40,000$ I believe his payment would be only about 20$ a month which could really help him however the SAVE repayment plan is capped at a certain income somewhere in the 100,000$ a year range. So every person will be different but one thing stays the same. No interest accrual. It works very well for borrowers with high interest rates or large balances. I think it would be a great tool for this guy to at least focus on his other debts and gain wealth before deciding to fully pay them off.
For everyone worrying whether this guy will make it as a politician... he wont. There is no need to worry 😂If he's getting this defensive in a youtube video, he will never survive campaigning, the opposition will rip him apart. He is already arguing with a tax payer "It's not YOUR property taxes Caleb, it's HiStOriCaL funds from taxes" 🤣 I can't imagine what garbage he will respond with when he has to engage with actual constituents.

This show has given me so much insight. As well ive now implemented a new idea to pay off debts (maybe its dumb, idk) but if I am ever going to order out/buy something I DONT need, I find that total and then pay that amount into lowering my debt.
I don’t want to say it’s dumb, but I feel like it’s pretty counter-productive to your goal of getting out of debt. Ordering out and buying things you don’t need will just extend the amount of time you’re paying off debt. It took me like a decade to pay off my credit cards because I wasn’t disciplined on those things you mentioned. It’s hard to buckle down and stick to the budget, but it’s so worth it.

We don’t need more politicians that can’t budget. Guy is youngish and needs to be serious and mature to hold office. Obviously he is not.
To be fair, a lot of great accountants are terrible at their own money. And lots of doctors smoke. Know nothing about him and just started video though
Yeah because ur half dead antique of a president is so great with finances right?
I think we just don't need career politicians. Live in the nation, then run for office.
This guy is exactly what is wrong with this country. Gets two bs degrees then runs for office.

One thing this guy has is the audacity. I can’t believe he questioned Caleb’s preparedness. If you think he’s unprepared why did you come back.
To announce his candidacy duh😂
Especially when he admitted and showed that he had done non of the changes caleb suggested🤦🏾♀️
To me it came off like he is embarrassed and feeling dumb and wanted some power back to make himself feel better so he tried to jab in the only way he could think of 🙄
Seriously
@@1juliasanahe was def trying to protect his ego.
Kudos to Caleb for taking this guy’s criticism of his show prep so well. It was kind of a wild accusation (though said politely by the guest) but on-camera and felt like a deflection. Caleb really does have a gift for communication and de-escalation.
Ok when he started criticizing his initial audit saying it wasn’t well put together had me seething. Like dude, watch the video. The plan was CLEAR.
I just watched the first one and good lord nothing has changed with this guy and now he wants to control tax payer dollars?!
Never valid.
Not to mention his parents pay his phone bill and car insurance… and blames them for his bad spending habits??
I can see all this changing his political views and his ideas on his own personal accountability. I wouldn’t want this guy to have any power in society tbh. He has low confidence and low ability to meet the basics, I know disabled people who handle life better, I couldn’t imagine what he can manage.
District 7 better watch out
That’s never a valid excuse

I usually think of smear campaigns as stretching or misrepresenting your opponent as a means of distracting from your own shortcomings.

To back Caleb up, I also would not vote for someone who can not manage his own finances to manage a city's finances.

I hope people in his District watch this. These are the type of people who fund their lifestyle with other people's money because they can't manage to do it by themselves.
Hope so, too.😢
He should get his finances in order FIRST before becoming a candidate.
I never understood how people can run for office, win, and have such horrible finances. Whereas those of us who as career Federal employees must undergo either a background investigation or security clearance to include a credit check.
It's actually a requirement to be bad in finances to be in government 😂
Credit check is for fraud/ conflicts of interest , not to see if you are in debt lol
It's a constitutional thing. Putting any kind of test requirement, besides for citizenship and age, on candidates could be used by a ruling party to knock out the competition. They could also be used against minorities.
I think every voter should know the finances of every candidate. This would reflect how he/she approaches spending our money.

It should become legal practice to have to disclose your finances when becoming a candidate for any office. Minumum we gotta know how much debt they're in, credit score, and maybe an average income after taxes for the last 5yrs
And also cap that their net worth cannot grow more than their annual income per year plus market growth.

He got ARGUMENTATIVE towards the end 😂 . Caleb has a great point. If you cant handle your own finances, who are you to handle cities/ towns finances
I live for Caleb’s channel. He’s SO inspiring and knowledgeable!
I like how Caleb returned the jab with not voting for him and he took it personally lmao. Sitting there stating how Caleb was 'unprepared' the previous time but not being able to take criticism is wild
How would you say it’s counter productive? Instead of buying thing A for x amount of dollars, I take what it would cost and put it towards debt.
@@jakeryan9689 I’ll fully admit that I completely misread what you said initially, that’s on me. I didn’t realize you were not going through with these purchases. In any case, keep up the good work!
This guy I wildddd! We’re the same age and he is so unaware of what he’s doing… I don’t know how people convince themselves that grocery stores are intimidating? Is no retirement plan not more intimidating/stressful? Jeez…
I dont know man when anxiety is high a lot of things are intimidating
People, choices, decisions is everyone judging me
I'm not saying this guy is in any way right (because pick up is a thing you don't even have to go in the store) but the most random things can become intimidating
Probably not the thing you want the absolute most in your politician though
@@tisi9756 ohh for sure! I’ve had my fair share of moments when I’ve become overwhelmed with what seems like easy decisions or tasks.
It’s a massive strain on the mind and even body, so that when something as simple as getting out to take care of finances or groceries, or even to see friends, becomes hard!
It takes guts to get roasted by Caleb, I know I don’t do everything right so I would definitely be intimidated…
Hopefully he can get things straight and have a great run in his career🤘
He’s just lazy. Period.
Yes Caleb I agree with you, ANYONES values and morals are reflected in where they spend their time and their money.....his priorities are reflected in his spending and lack of maturity.
My three favorite channels: Caleb Hammer, Stock Brotha, & How Money Works. Make my week complete! 🔥 🔥 🔥
Haven't heard of Stock Brotha. Thanks for that recommendation, albeit inadvertent.
Caleb your services are an excellent contribution to society, and possibly saving many, many from a horrible financial future. Behold everyone!!!
Says grocery shopping is overwhelming but wants to be in charge of the city. Checks out.
