- This is a quick shakedown flight and a look at Paul’s progress with his build of a Carf-Models USA composite T-27 Tucano powered by a JetCat SPT5 V3 Turboprop swinging a Biela 24x12 three-blade Carbon prop. This was the maiden flight for the power plant. There's a brisk and gusting cross wind from the West. Paul’s Tucano is in the Brazilian Red demo team colors.
It takes more than a little nerve and a good set of brakes to fly this plane off our short and bumpy grass runway! As you’ll see in the video, there wasn’t much room to spare when landing with full braking!
It’s taken Paul approximately 250 hours to configure and install all of the equipment and perform all of the function checks and programming. He’s still working on perfecting the gear door function plus tuning the smoke system. Paul will soon turn his attention to the installation of a scale lighting system and scale cockpit.
There are a pair of BLS172 servos 475 oz-in on the elevators and five BLS 272's on the flaps, ailerons and nose gear steering. The rudders are 9152 Futaba.
Landing gear is the kit’s stock air actuated retracts and the brake system has a Xicoy proportional electronic valve that allows control of brake pressure from the transmitter.
There is split radio system based on a Futaba R7008 SB S-Bus receiver with telemetry.
A huge shout out to Dale T for the awesome still photo used in the title slide, thanks Dale!
Thanks for watching and happy flying!

I agree Cedric, the turboprop makes sweet music! Thanks for watching my friend! Cheers, Bob
Wow that's cool! Love the sound between the turbine and prop! It must be the speed because it seems to fly smaller looking than it is! Awesome plane and flight by Paul! Excellent camerawork, editing and video there Commander Bob, well deserving a reward of some bacon and beer! BIG turboprop thumbs up! Cheers Bob!
Cadillacstsv06
Thanks for the very kind comments Fred! It looks like it flies smaller than it is because he was so damn high. Just past the limit of where I can hold the zoom steady. I'll have to pass on the beer (booze free since 1972) but I'll go all in on the bacon!!!!!) Thanks for watching Fred! Cheers, Bob

Wow,I love that plane.A little 2 much power for me.
Really miss your videos!!
Thanks so much for that! I hope to get back in the swing of things as soon as the Border opens. Unfortunately I moved 4 hours away from the border (as opposed to the 20 minutes before). I hope to have some medical issues behind me that will allow me to get out more. Been laid up for a couple of years. I miss doing the videos and I miss you guys! Happy flying to you! Cheers, Bob
