I have literally never in my life had a fire alarm do what it's intended, they are just an aggravating presence in my life. Woke up this morning to the stupid thing telling me it needs a fresh battery. It's not even my alarm. It doesn't even NEED a battery it's attached to the wiring in the house. But it's time for me to get up on a day I'd planned to sleep in apparently, because this thing needs a fucking battery I don't have. Wonderful.
You can, you need the smart fire alarm tho. And don't expect to be able to do that on your normal fire alarms or older ones, they don't have any bluetooth or WiFi receivers
I should tell my parents this because what they do when it keeps going off is they just take it off the ceiling, like unplug it from the hardwire and take out the battery, which is a HUGE safety risk.
My grandparents have this alarm and it is SO annoying. Cook *anything* in the clean counter oven and it goes off. No smoke, no steam, just maybe the increase of temp from the little toaster oven across the kitchen? But we straight up have to have a chair placed under it because it goes off EVERY TIME. 10 minutes is not enough sanity saving when baking cookies. I'm so close to just dismantling the dang thing if we intend to use the kitchen.

HERES THE SOLUTION: THIS THING WAS PISSING ME OFF ALL MORNING. FIRST TURN OF THE SMOKE ALARM FROM MAINS. NEXT TAKE OF THE COVER BY USING A FLAT HEAD SCREW DRIVER TO WEDGE IT OPEN. FINALY REMOVE THE BATTERY FROM THE COVER AND CHUCK THE WHOLE THING IN THE BIN.

One of My smoke alarms model p3010b just went off beeping and yelling " Fire, Fire" Scared the crap out of me and my dogs. Pressed the button and a few minutes later did the same thing! No fire or smoke. Ended up taking it down and disabling it! Its a 10 year smoke detector and only had it 2 years!

I have to resort to taking a plastic cap ( like an old fashioned rain cap) & putting 3 or 4 washcloths inside & masking tape it to the ceiling. I have to do this almost every time I’m cooking. Forget about heating up a wok or a cast iron pan. I’m going out of my mind with this. Anyone have any ideas?!

Some of my colleagues smoked cigarettes in the room and the fire alarm turned on and after few minutes someone knocked the door and they gave the guy bullshit for it . My question is : if i took off the cover will it be shown in the monitor that i disabled it ? Will anyone know ? I removed it for a couple of seconds and put it back again and nothing happened, but if I removed it for let say an 2 hours will someone know about it ?
Depends on the age of the system and the country you're in. Any system about 15 years old or newer in the US is addressable which means the system can track all the parts attached to it so yes if you disable the smoke alarm by removing it the control panel will go into trouble mode and the hotel staff will immediately know about it and you could be then in legal trouble because tampering with a fire system like that is a Federal offense.
Our kidde smoke alarm expired after several years. EXPIRED... nothing wrong with it, just happened to reach a random date. We are never buying Kidde again
