This story goes back 2 months, I received a comment on my "Sweet Sweet Cendrillon Drug" cover, and it was completely in Spanish. Comment: Que buenos Cover me gustaría que hicieras más de okamep como la de ensemble to play with you o LA faraway lights (which directly translates to: What a good Cover I would like you to do more okamep like the ensemble to play with you or LA faraway lights) So of course such a comment piqued my interest haha and I looked for the songs they mentioned~ Immediately I fell in love with Faraway Lights, the melody and lyrics really spoke out to me, especially these two lines I love the most: 口ずさみ 思い描いて さあ 歌姫 Humming, I envision it Come, I am your singing princess 歌う花よ 永遠に This flower sings for you, eternally. (I did the translations myself so it's not official or anything, just how I interpreted it in my head) The reason I am able to keep singing is precisely these lyrics. I want to be everyone's singing princess (priestess?) and a flower that sings for you forever~ The rest of the lyrics also have a very deep meaning so if you have time I highly recommend you go read the Eng Trans. doc once more! (linked in the desc.) I want to mention one more time how everyone's support means the world to me, and especially reading everyone's comments:) I read every single one of them, and the proof lies in this song. I won't ever miss it and each and every comment is very precious to me. After all, that's the only way I would've known you had watched my video! My love language is words of affirmation so being able to read your thoughts and feedback on my covers is what makes me the happiest! Fun fact: The key change you hear in this is not something from the original song, it is something that I did on my own:) The original key of this song is the key you hear AFTER the key change. Everything before that is -1 from the original! When I was deciding what key to sing this song in, I think that is where I was stuck for the majority of the time. I had wanted to belt the final chorus, but it sounded too strained in the original key, so I took it down one key (the whole song) only to realize after I had recorded the beginning half that it was somewhat still too high (for what I would've liked). So after some thinking I thought, "well what if I put a key change *here*" and surprisingly, it worked. It felt natural, as if it were there all along. I emphasized what I could on the last chorus, strengthening my voice to contrast the softer beginning. I hope everyone was able to enjoy something that properly felt 'Hana'- Often times I get told I sound like x or sound like y, but for this cover alone I wanted to share what my voice, "Hana's voice" was like. And of course it wouldn't be my cover if there weren't crazy harms or adlibs XD I went all out in terms of arrangement so if you'd like to hear the acapella, that is also linked above! The mains were taken a while back but the harms/adlibs were a few days before the actual upload. I was running out of time and uploaded this cover super rushed but all in all I'm glad I made it on time! I had to wean off the harms/adlibs in the beginning though, I wanted to add more but stopped myself since I wanted the mains to show off the lyrics~ LASTLY THE ART/ANIM: CAN WE ALL APPRECIATE THE BEAUTIFUL ART FROM GONYA-SAN?! I happened to see her art in skeb one day and just KNEW I had to commission her! Her style works so lovely with okamep songs and you bet it won't be the last time I sing one either~ Huge thanks to Azuka who helped out last minute and added color correction/sparkles to the video which really tied everything together:) All-in-all, I had a lot of emotions producing this cover for you all:) This song originally wasn't the 5th year anniversary upload, it was supposed to be something else but that cover will come at a later date! Either way I think this fit more so I'm glad it worked out! I just gave the acapella version a listen and that version definitely showcases how great your voice sounds (I feel like it's unfair for you that I got to listen to it for free lol). I think you did a great job on making this cover sound like something that fits your style. Gonya-san and Azuka did a really nice job with the visuals of the video, your call on commissioning the skeb worked out nicely. Also posting the bts stuff a bit after the upload is not a bad idea since I ended up listening to it two more times right now. Edit: I just noticed that Azuka's twitter url doesn't work.
