The pricing model alone should be reason enough to have this model used at every event. Thanks for bringing light to the small projects that actually make a difference!

    Hreat interview!
San Francisco Intl airport just announced a ban on all plastic water bottles including ‘water for sale’ bottles IN the airport! Bring your own bottle/can or plan to buy water in a bottle or can.
They are still working on getting a change for ‘flavored’ water products.

While watching this episode, I was reminded of one of your recent NYK videos that reported on Ohio's dismal actions regarding Climate change and pollution - and this company (zerowastefest.com) is based in Ohio!! Talk about damage control!! Way to go!! 👍

Since disposable consumerism became a thing, people have forgotten that waste has a cost but also has value.
The reuse, recycle mentality must be reprogrammed into people from birth and become part of culture again.
    1. Take what you need and no more. 2. Replace what you take. 3. Leave things as you find them, or better.
    4. Take your shit home with you! :-)

@@markplott4820 Also product manufacturers and packaging companies must design to take into account the end of life of their products and make them easy to repair and disassemble and separate the materials for sorting.
Laptop batteries come to mind - I've taken apart thousands of them to test and reuse the cells, and apart from being difficult or even dangerous to dismantle there's usually loads of unnecessarily messy gunk inside which is difficult to clean off and adds a lot of time. The ABS cases are also recyclable if they can be cleaned up.
Single use plastics are the worst. What's wrong with cardboard?
At least PET water bottles are recyclable, but a lot of other kinds are not, or are so mixed that they are costly to separate.

These people do an amazing job. They could easily turn this into a nationwide business especially if they approach some of the major festival & events promotion companies to raise their profile. Zac, thru your music business contacts maybe you could assist them with this. Also maybe an approach to municipal & state authorities to be a part of their major events + via the various states' education departments, alert schools to the services they provide. The USA has many professional sports teams, major university sporting events & approaching these could, long term, dramatically grow their reach. Just some ideas of how they might grow their business & continue to expand their recycling mission.
Glastonbury Festival, a major UK music festival with UK & international acts went plastic free this year. Sales of plastic bottles, bags etc was banned & they provided reusable water bottles via a festival partner & festival goers could fill up from onsite H2O dispenser tanks located throughout the festival site.

The thing is all those recycle bags got to the same place as all the waste and gets dumped or shipped abroad anyway. Recycling makes no difference unless the government has the end stage actually recycling the waste in processing plants.

    • @PM_82
      @PM_82 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Tabs T maybe it can be the case for the plastic but the aluminium and metal cans go into the metal recycling stream that had a very established recyling pipeline. Same for glass bottles depending on the region. Paper and foodscraps are going to composting facility instead of the dump.

If I could give this video 10 thumbs-up, I would! This was awesome!!!!!! What a great idea! I especially love them pointing out that millennials are really into sustainability. That statement alone makes the argument for buying Tesla stock. I would happily pay more for an event ticket to support a zero waste effort like these folks are doing. I think they could franchise their operations if they could standardize their processing equipment.

It's nice to see you guys branching out and covering other topics about sustainability.
Can you do a video about people’s need to remove natural gas from their homes? Whether that’s during appliance upgrades or a more proactive approach of paying to do it all at once. You talk a lot about cars and solar. But how about our homes pumping out CO2??
I think decarbonizing our homes is probably just as important as doing the same with our transportation.

I have seen third world countries where they melt down selected plastics, add sand and make roofing tiles floor tiles and paving stone tiles that are durable and used to pave roads, kitchens and roofs. I want to see this made into 2, 3, and 4 inch clear plastic pipe for plumbing and sewage,.

@@MyLUK95 yes i remember I was station there from 2002-2010. I love it there because they recycled just as hard as i do. Also the nude swim at palm beach, the historical sites, Christmas market in Nuremberg, and a few distant relatives. I miss it. The real October fest, the salt mines, it was a second home to me. The first is the Redwoods and the Pacific ocean in California that i miss so much.

With a basic AI robot to knock each type of material into the separate areas, wouldn't the government benefit from a system like this at waste facilities, it surely means everyone can use one bin and the machine can sort the rest?
Could we clear a few landfills with a system like this? Mhmmmmm
