-Beau Lys means “Beautiful Lily” and was written for my 3 yr old daughter. It’s a tale about the beauty of childlike wonder and the struggle to hold onto it as it seems to slip through our hands as we get older.
The song is comprised of two simple melodies intertwining in a dance. The stronger ascending melody signifies wonder, curiosity and growing up. The softer descending melody signifies remembering and returning to childlike wonder.
My Lily, you are now becoming. The world is a canvas for your imaginations to paint upon and your sense of wonder and curiosity is a gift that illuminates everything around you. But one day as you grow older you will have to un-become to once again see like a child.
In the times you forget who you are, let these melodies be a bridge to show you the way back to who you’ve always been….Beautiful Lily.
