@buffoonustroglodytus4688 highly dependent on the animal because the exact reason farmers never have dogs and donkeys is that exact reason cause there would be dead dogs but luckily the larger horse are more docile
Only because domestic dogs would never dream of attacking farm animals though; it's all thanks to our eugenics program against them. Dogs that killed livestock didn't stay alive to breed because we ruthlessly put dogs that were a threat to livestock down over thousands of years. This is the same reason why most dogs are exceptionally gentle around human babies and children even when provoked, any that weren't docile in this manner were savagely put down. The wolves which are ancestors of modern dogs prey on equidae and in some populations horse is more than half of their diet, but modern dogs don't because their ancestors that tried that on for size were quickly taken out by humans. The point is that unless you're talking about toy breeds or something a dog's discinclination to harm any farm animal (including but not limited to donkeys) is more about what's in their head than their physical inability to do such harm. A donkey would definitely give a dog more trouble than most farm animals, though, donkeys are feisty buggers there's no doubt about it.
