Hello from Australia, I was searching cooking with a KK, and your video came up, love it, so many knock offs of these, in fact it was some gimmicky one with a phone charger attached that lead me to the original and I believe the best, great video, thankyou.
Hi. I imagine it’s a bit more sunny in Australia this time of year. I must admit, I don’t have experience of using a different brand and after using the genuine KK I have no desire to try! Thanks very much for checking out my video. Glad you enjoyed it! There’s several others on my channel too if you’re interested.
Thanks for checking out my video! Thinking of trying something similar again one day by baking a thin / flatbread and maybe serving it with a curry or baked Camembert
What a fun base camp meal! I was not familiar with KK but you're really showing it's functionality and a bonus your videos are so relaxing. And I like how you don't sweat the small stuff. :)
Hi. Thanks for checking out my videos. The KK is traditionally a water boiler but it more versatile than many realise, and it’s fun because you get to play with fire 🔥 😂. That’s cool to hear you find my videos relaxing, it feels good to spread a bit of chill in a busy world 😊
I do a cheat version using wraps as the base for thin & crispy pizza, putting the fire base on top as you did making the quiche is clever. Thank you for sharing.
Great knives aren’t they. Especially for the money. Built to last too - I’ve had mine for over 30 years now! Thank you for watching. Hope you enjoy the other cooking videos on my channel. Cheers. Neil.
Thank you 😊. I sometimes use a non stock pan with the KK but do enjoy the challenge of seeing what can be achieved with the kit. Thanks for watching. Hope you enjoy my other videos too. Cheers. Neil
Congratulations. It’s a great kit. And more versatile than you think. I’ve had lots of fun using it and creating tasty dishes for this channel. Thanks for watching. Hope you enjoy your KK as much as I do.
I have enjoyed watching several of your videos and have subscribed. You have given me inspiration to try different things with my Kelly kettle. I have mostly looked at it as a water boiler and for some frying. Try to bake with it looks like a great way to expand its usefulness.
Hi Jeff. Welcome to the channel and thank you for your support. The KK is an awesome water boiler isn’t it! As a cook system it can be challenging but fun and rewarding. I see it as a heat source (much like a gas stove) so if I can control the temperature the only limit to what I can cook is my own imagination. Hope you have fun getting out and trying new things. Cheers. Neil
I'm not a big KK fan but I was impressed by the effort you put in to make do with the KK. I'm always looking for new ideas for good trail food so I really appreciate you putting this together and sharing. I hit the subscribe button and will be watching for more.
Hi Jonny. Thanks for subscribing, I’ve just subscribed to you too. Glad you are enjoying the videos 😊. As a water boiler the KK is amazing, cooking with the the hobo stove is a challenge but I enjoy that, and I get to play with fire 🔥 😂
I think for a first try, it turned out brilliant! I think you're definitely in the right track, using the firepot on the top and bottom. That was truly was a great idea. 👍
@@hannahthomas5904 I don't see why it couldn't be made vegan. I make plant based pizza at home. Just need to cut ingredient amounts down to about a third of a regular size pizza.
@@hannahthomas5904 To be honest, I was a bit lazy using a packet 😬. I’m pretty sure it was vegan, either way though you could easily make a dough with flour, yeast, oil, salt (and I think sugar). I’m always looking for ideas of what to cook on the Kelly Kettle, would you be interested in a vegan dish, if so do you have anything you’d like to see?
Just subscribed! I am using my Kelly kettle more and more and really like what you are doing on your channel. I have always had a fascination with the Kelly kettle and not so much the box stove. Thank you!
Thanks for checking out my video and for subscribing too! Kelly Kettle is an awesome bit of kit isn’t it! Hope you’ve got some good inspiration and come up with your own recipes too. I’ve not used my enough lately and another video is long overdue, I must get out soon and film another! Thanks again. Neil
@@parkitpitchitmoorit You did a phenomenal job indeed! I just ordered the Ultimate kit. I was thinking perhaps a little olive oil rubbed on the base of the pan will add crispness as well as a light brushing on top of the dough itself. Your videos are awe inspiring. Much appreciation and support your way ..😊
I bought a kelly kettle last week mainly to keep at home in case of powercuts, but it's good to see the versatility of it. I live in fear of not having enough drinking water, as two of my children have to drink more than most every day due to medical problems.
It’s a very versatile kit! Don’t leave it in the cupboard for the next power cut though, it’s great fun too! As the fire is contained you might even be able to involve the kids too.
I have to admit, that was clever putting the ffire base on top of the plate to melt the cheese. Maybe putting parchment paper under the pizza would keep it from sticking or oil.
Hi. Thanks for checking out my video. Hope you enjoy my others too. Parchment paper or oil would definitely be a good idea. Think I’ll try the oil next time over the parchment paper, only to keep it simple and avoid waste. We’re possible i do try to avoid using aluminium foil and disposable items. Thanks again for watching! 👍🏻
Thanks! I’ve tried the same technique with a sweet potato pie and a quiche which I’ve also done videos for. I’d also like to try a cottage pie which I’ll probably do in a future video. Thanks for checking out my channel! 👍🏻
The red pesto worked well adding a nice flavour, it does contain oil so couldn’t use too much but it’s something I’d try again. I didn’t film it unfortunately but after I’d made the pizza I used the extra dough and ingredients to make a calzone which I fried in the pan - nothing goes to waste! 😋
Hi. Thanks for checking out my video and for taking the time to leave a comment! Hope you have as much fun using your KK as I do. They’re more versatile than you think. Hope you enjoy my other videos too. Cheers. Neil
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. I kindly suggest not putting the sooty pot on your cutting board. You can well put it on ground since it is sooty. :)
Those Kelly kettle plates and cups look bombproof. I’m think of buying just the cups and plates but they’re so expensive!!!! How are these holding up for you now? Do you still use them and they in still half decent condition? Thanks
Both the cups and plates are fantastic quality. My cups have not seen too much use but the plates have been well used both as plates and as frying pans. They are holding out really well and are definitely worth the money! In one of my later videos which I put out there earlier this year I go through the kit and give it a long term review. Perhaps you’d find it useful to watch this one too. Thanks for watching. Cheers. Neil
@@parkitpitchitmoorit cheers Neil, will have a scan of your channel and take a look. The fact you’ve used the plates as frying pans shows they must be solid. How come you haven’t used the cups much? Too big? I’m looking to buy 4 cups and 4 plates for £60 😱
@@anonymous4201 the mugs are a good size. Two different sizes which are ideal as the smaller is better for tea or coffee and the larger one takes a whole can of Guinness. It’s a big outlay but they’ll last.
Thanks for the tip, that sounds like a great idea that I’ll have to try. The vast majority of my cooking on the Kelly Kettle is experimental so if you have any tips or tricks on my other videos I’d love to hear them. Thanks for watching! Cheers, Neil.
Good job! Thank you. Using the spring clips to hold the pans together is a clever idea. I was trying to think of a better way to contain the heat while I was watching you, but none of my ideas seemed practical. You're the one with boots on the ground, so I won't take offense if you tell me I'm full of horsefeathers. Since the Kelly Kettle is cylindrical, you could get some thin aluminum from a building supply or discarded from a construction site and make a fire screen that would wrap around the kettle when it was stored in the bag. You could clad the edges with electrician's tape, so you or the bag wouldn't get cut. The intent would not be to block the air supply but level it out.
You’re welcome Kenneth. Thank you for suggesting pizza! I do have a folding aluminium shield for my mini Trangia which helps save a lot fuel. As the KK only uses twigs carrying extra kit to save fuel seems unnecessary. I’m sure if car campers could benefit from it though. Thanks for your support! Glad you enjoyed the video 👍🏻
