- Snow is melting out of the trees so I relax a while with my cabin jays and grouse. A shoe try to make and escape to extent our cabin time and a wolf is hidden in the trees as I take a hike to Hawk's Pond.

I really enjoy watching your videos. You are so into the nature and history of your land. I can really tell how much you love your time at your cabin. I hope that you have someone to carry on your love and passion for your place and show the same love you have for it and all that it entails. I would really hate to see all the work you have done go to waste. I am 70 years young this month and truly enjoy seeing the old ways maintained. Keep up the good work as I know you will and have a very Merry Christmas.

Now, Martin, you said that your boot was trying to run away so that you are forced to stay longer, but now we see that those "kicks" are simply trying to escape being potentially drowned in a beaver dam overflow. Belated anniversary wishes to you two honeymooners - our 50th was in July. Just imagine, we have put up with the shenanigans of our wives all these decades!
Now we know how to determine if a coyote, fox or wolf is watching us on a wet day - no mistaking that "wet dog" odor, as any dog owner can attest to!

Thanks Martin for letting folks know about the benefits of young wildlife habitat. The young plants and saplings are vital to the survival of various wildlife because of the food they provide. Thick young brush also provides protective cover from over-predation. None of this young habitat can grow with tall trees blocking the sun from hitting the ground. Logging that helps provide this necessary, diverse habitat is a good thing.

Martin. I was up in the Arrowhead area a few days ago and saw wolf tracks though not as fresh as yours. Weather been a little warmer this year and some of the big snow has melted though plenty in Diluth areas
Been an odd weather year in Illinois. Winter came early but late Dec. has been smashing records with warm days.

Thank you for another great video Martin! Very interesting about the wolf, always love reading books about wolves in the wild, somewhat of a mysterious creature.
Those wolf tracks, would have had me thinking...$1500 a hide...10 wolves = $15,000 dollars... that'd easily pay for 2 years off the grid supplies... maybe 3.
