My friends and I make a bunch of little mini-games like this. Our version of this is called Pichu Panic. All healing items (including hearts and tomatoes), everyone plays as Pichu, on the Temple stage, and you start at 300%. It's a time match, and you get a point if you DIE at 0%. Most points at the end wins (usually 5 minutes). It works best with 3+ players, but trying to escape people trying to injure you as Pichu so you can SD at 0 is hard =) . We do a lot of same- character, often 1-move-only mini games that are a lot of fun! Let me know if you want to know more!
Robin wouldve been good too. i thought for sure vyq was gonna cast Heal with Hero a couple times, but he never did. or even Kamikaze if he went above 150, or Magic Burst when cfive got below 100 just to kill him.

This could probably only be done on stages with wild hazards. And maybe would need the help of CPUs, not sure. Also killing your opponent would still be a viable strat.... the more I think about it, the more it doesn't sound too hard to implement.
I know we didnt get to see the WHOLE match, but its weird to me that from at least what we saw, cFive didnt attempt to absorb palutenas projectiles as Ness even once

While they don't have self-healing moves or are the fastest, their comeback mechanic means they can get a first blood at the beginning of a round, which can help build momentum of healing up. Additionally, Terry/Lucario can kill as early as 60% when at 150%, meaning that, in the event that they die, they can still come back from a 90% deficit. On top of that, they have good mobility and spacing tools (Neutral Special) to kite and zone with, which not just makes it harder to get in on them to do damage, but also allows Terry/Lucario to roam and collect healing items. Tl;Dr You take the lead with their comeback mechanics and keep it by being evasive and playing the neutral game.
Boxen True, but the reverse is also true for someone like Little Mac. He’s very hard to kill below like 60%, so once he gets below that, it’s basically over. Also there’s always the case that they might not know how to play them well enough for a competition.

Or started off at 150% with reduce knock-back. Or just use a much bigger stage so that you don't get killed as easily and you have to travel farther to get healing items.

you guys have been doing good on these custom game ideas. would be neat to have a way of setting up things more cleanly with an editor but its Nintendo so our imagination or mods are the best we can hope for
once you get below like 100-80% you become much harder to kill. When you're deep in the red percentages you get reset constantly, but almost every game the first person who got below 80% won the match b/c they weren't going to die again
I would have figured characters with self healing would be the go-to for this rule set. Followed by characters stronger at high percent (better at making comebacks).
At first, I thought that heavyweight characters would obviously be pretty solid picks due to their ability to survive hits at high percents, but winning an actual match by reaching 0% can be really difficult 'cause they'll get juggled back to middle percents again and again. Maybe just staying alive and stalling for time could be a decent strategy, especially for Bowser. Also this would be an absolutely bonkers game mode with more than 2 people.
Mixa The optimal characters for this game mode are characters who can auto heal or characters with a very good defensive game. Being able to camp is absolutely necessary.
If there was a tier list for this mode, Villager, Isabelle, Megaman, and PacMan would be amongst the top tiers, basically projectiles and the ability to run away would make them the best choice,
Doesnt use wario, robin, wii fit, kirby, lucas, or sans. Even when they do use ness they never use his healing move. Like why. Also never used dedede who is in the thumbnail. I think hero used heal maybe once but yeah.
Nah, Rosalina is the Casual Queen. She can pull items to her. Little Mac is actually worse in casuals because it's easier to get stuck between multiple people and items help keep him at bay. There's a difference between whooping casuals and being good for casual modes 👍That said, it did help that you guys start at a percentage where half of little macs moves just kills.
I think you guys should do this but in a giant box custom stage so that no one dies or at least they die less easily, it will probably make the matches go by faster
Call of Duty mode. Yes I know it sounds terrible but hear me out Only projectiles are permitted, 10 stamina, 5 stock. You may or may not enable gun-like items, and if you accidentally hit your opponent with normal attack you SD. Best if used in a custom stage or one that has several platforms / room to maneuver
You should do one where you each name a move, then you pick a character who can get a kill with that move. See who gets the most kills with that move in a time match. For example, Vyq says forward air, cFive says up b. cFive plays Ganon to kill with fair and Vyq picks ZSS for up b.
