Love your video - I would personally add the Home Alone House as a special honorable mention: though not a winter village set per se, it does convey similar feelings as Santa’s Visit (#1) and brought some holiday spirit to a lot of folks the past few holiday seasons.🎄🎶

Agreed. I solve it by pretending the elf house is a normal old style house. I just put normal minifigures there. The ginger bread house however can not be rescued…
Unfortunately I started collecting Winter Village sets very late starting with the re-released toy shop. I added the train and train station, Santa's visit and some polybags and city advent calendar stuff. I'd like to see a re-release of the market, post office or the bakery to cut the absurd aftermarket prices.
For the train, I coated the battery box in the tender with black pieces and managed to squeeze the IR receiver into the driver's cab, so the steam engine keeps its original green look. This looks way better than the official Lego version. The train goes round my christmas tree every year.
Nice little fix for the train! Yes I hope they do some updates of the older sets a new post office or bakery would be great! But updated and different since typically Lego doesn’t do rereleases.
I watched your video before buying our first winter village set. We have lots of lego mostly technics but nothing in this theme and I have two young daughters and was contemplating the Santa's Visit set as the one to get... so I really enjoyed your detailed comparison with the other sets. Thanks for the effort making this helpful video :)

I LOVe it! I almost included it in the honorable mentions. I think it goes great with the village. I also personally love taking the Star Wars snowmen from the advent calendar and using those too lol
Last year we had two separate winter villages, partly down to spacing issues and partly theming what with the more whimsical sets being a bit *too* whimsical to fit in, so gingerbread house, elf clubhouse, Santa's sleigh and one giant Christmas tree (I don't have Santa's workshop, never liked the look of it) have their own display.
This year I'm considering three displays as Main Street looks a bit too modern/American to fit in with the more traditional sets. That is, except for the firehouse which I think belongs more with this year's set.
That said, I haven't told my wife yet.
Lol, I feel that last part! Good idea doing different displays like you did! Yeah, the yellow Christmas lights also bother me on Santa’s workshop
I #agree with your list 100% (especially the gingerbread house being last on the list), however my favorite Christmas set so far is #Holiday #main #street - cute and great value for money👏🏻👏🏻❤️ And I also like the last one, Alpine lodge.

it's too bad so many of these are retired sets. I only just discovered this series this year, so way behind... we snapped up the Elf club house just before it retired but there's only 2-3 sets you can buy current
Awe man, I feel that! I was lucky enough to start collecting at the bakery. I couldn’t imagine having to start now!
My village is almost complete. Just need the fire station. And the post office. I have the re released toy shop so I see no reason to buy the original but maybe someday I will to truly be at 100%
Yeah, nice part about the toy shop is that for the OG sets it’s much cheaper now compared to the post office since it was released. You can also mirror build it so it doesn’t look the exact same!
I agree with this ranking 100% which is rare but I do understand your pov on these sets they are very cool also random question but should I but some sets together to make a sort of Lego world let me know what you think

No I mean like a world like jungle sort of thing with dinosaurs because I need to make it extra realistic lol

I’m sorry Tiago… I absolutely love the set, 10/10 roofing, great design work, it just didn’t fit in the village aspect for me.

This set is beautiful from idea to the realization for 200% and Im sure time will prove it. This should be one of the most iconic Christmas sets for the long times…
With all the respect this set doesn’t deserve to be at the bottom of the list, in my opinion.

I think some of this is because I’m a boomer when it comes to the winter village and that set symbolizes a thematic shift

The worst Winter Village set are the ones before when my kid got interested in LEGO and they were practically unobtainable, I say practically because there is a line in the sand I will draw for overpaying on sets.

@@PlainOldGrinch Yes and no, I would like to see them not retired in the first place, and while I understand they can't be in every store they could be inwarehouses where if they run low they (LEGO) can just crank out more and restock as necessary, I mean heck nothing should ever be retired with technology the way it is just order direct from LEGO and they can just have their mega parts bin squirt out the pieces necessary into bags, reprint a manual and box, and ship it off, but I do understand that's not the way they do business.
But if they did do re-releases I would like to see like maybe one a year in addition to the new set, not something that replaces a new set design. But again, I do think the LEGO retirement system is done purposefully to make extra some demand on the product.
@@Mike__B yeah I think it generates new demand as well, some people want all the versions, but mostly it adds demand to people wanting the new and better version of it

@@cortsgrun3670 I actually do own the entire collection. I’ve been collecting these since they first came out, minus the toy shop I got that later on because I missed it, but my brother had it at the time and I’ve had it for 7 years now.
It is fine because everyone on my channel (that includes you) is welcome to their own opinion and this is a free place to express them. I encourage people to share their opinions here and discuss this great hobby that we all love.
