So basically her struggling to fit into the industry because they already had a black girl or they already had someone with her look is all in her head and because she allowed it? lol byeeee
i've watched countless of Ted Talks... but NEVER have i seen someone presenting who was as articulate, effective and mesmerizing as her speech. she didn't stumble on one single word. her words flowed fluidly and rapidly and were carried further by the passion you could hear in her voice. one day, i too want to do a ted talk. watching her speak her mind was like seeing a more mature and refined version of the self that i strive towards being. Looks like i now have a new role model.
I think at some point most black women go through this growing up. The strange part with me is that I was never ashamed of being black but I wished for long, straight hair for years. I haven't put a perm in my hair since 2007 and dropped weaves for good in 2010. I assumed that I had to wear weaves. Its so sad because this woman is pretty. My hair is currently the same length and a similar style. Take it or leave it.
I am touched, moved and inspired. Ebonee brings to the forefront of my heart and soul, empathy for all those oppressed. I know the oppressed come in all "colors," shapes and sizes, but in America we have allowed, yes even promoted, a special torment for blacks. (We started with the Native Americans, but we beat them into decimation, submission and exile.) I pray that we all continue to grow, not in tolerance, but in love.
Your country is oppressing and killing people around the world as we speak, so why don't you try to work some of that "humanity" onto your foreign policy for a start? The way you trigger-happy liberals act holier than thou is nauseating, you've figured it all out so now all that's left for you to do is to fix the beauty industry? LMFAO! You're protesting Trump's election and various pet issues of yours but where is your activism where it really matters?
neuralvibes I'm about as conservative as one can be. I'm a Deplorable Trump supporter, Life Member of the NRA and a Veteran. If you want to get nasty, you ought to have the courage to do it face to face.
+w leonard oh my God Leonard. I actually wondered about that before. if you were dying and there was only one person to save you. is the color of their skin going to be an obstacle for them saving you. but I guess we won't know until that happens.
This is a beautiful video, it's sad that there are people that disagree with what she said. Everything thing she said is true and true to her & based on her experiences. How can you tell someone's experience is not real ? when you are not living it ? when you cannot live it ? No one can say white privilege isn't real. Let's remember the Black race was set back 400 years why? Cause of colour of their skin. Just let that sink in... love this video ! REPRESENTATION IS IMPORTANT !
I think we were set back because we scared them, with our uniqueness. fear turns decent humans into savage's. Every race is unique and has their something special.
This brought me to tears, she is such a trail blazer. As a model and actress I understand 100% what she means. I love everything she's doing. I will always support Ebonee Davis.
AndiNicole Official Thomas Sowell talks about being black without blaming white privilege in the same sentence. look how many blacks hate him for that. she found out she doesn't need to straighten her hair, good job, now stop blaming whites for realizing it so late and you can grapple all the problems black or Hispanics or Chinese or Arabs have.
Khilola Vahobova - yes you can just reverse it & turn it back on racists by asking them da same stupid questions!! Then you See how quick they shut their racists mouths up!!
I could not help but sob when watching this. Hearing the similarities in our stories has brought me so much healing. She is a role model I would have marveled and idealized growing up because she does not only look like the black women in my family but she looks like me too. It would have helped me preserve the self-love I grew to hate and abandon. As a young black girl this kind of influence in the fashion industry will not only affect the millennials who are pushing for the change but also for today's young girls, our future daughters and future granddaughters (growing up with the fashion industry influencing the culture and world they live in) to know and believe they are perfect just the way they are. Thank you for this ever so needed message and change xx
This was an amazing TED talk! Thank you Ebonee for speaking up and using your platform to showcase the imminent power of Black Girl Magic that is desperately needed in the fashion industry now more than ever. You are such an inspiration! ✨ ✊🏾
She really understood the assignment!! Hands down one of the best TEDTalks I've seen. I can only imagine what that would have been like in person. She did not wait for the door to be open, she made a new entryway that only she could. BRAVO Ebonee
Omg! Her voice, her talk, her words.... expanding for a collective beauty is so spot on and true. Every word that absolutely flowed from her mouth is true. She is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Speaking as someone who works in the fashion industry I can say that she's very correct on the modelling industry & it's reluctant ways with non-white models. However the industry is just cut-throat in general. If it's not your race then it's your weight, your lack of facial definition, your shoe size, your height etc. After all it is a superficial industry so you have to take these things with a grain of salt & not let it knock you. There's always someone telling you why you're not right for them.
Qhawe Qhawe Because I am disgusted by these people that are trying to make black people feel that they are not good enough, that they are being discriminated against by their skin colour, trying to make them blame their colour for everything that may go wrong in their lives. That's why. This is fake propaganda.
She really shouldn't complain though since she's really average looking at best, I see many non-white women nearly every day who are better looking. As you said it's completely superficial so the fact that she's gotten anywhere in the business without extraordinary looks is something she should feel privileged about.
Preach , how we’re portrayed says a lot of the perceptions of the world we live in. Everything looks different through media, magazines and social media. She just gave us the REALITY of the world. Thank you for being brave and being the light in the dark. Blessings my sister 🙏🏽
I am so proud of you. This is powerful! Black Girl Magic movement. I speak with my daughter about this all the time. I am instilling in her all that you said. Im proud of her and you. Thank you for speaking up and teaching others how to treat us with respect.
I'm so moved by her words, it's so sad in 2020 this message is still so relavent. I was intrigued by her beauty and afro, while I schemd through a series of photos where she was spotlighted. I got much more than bargain for..so proud of this young lady.
I'm glad she is speaking out for all women of color, rock on little sis and I love your hair and your smooth, flawless skin. You are so beautiful naturally.
Truth to Power! This Beautiful young lady spoke well the systematic racism is everywhere when are trying to make a living! This is just one area! If the many things that go against people of color! This why I am not crazy about the fashion industry today! Who are they to tell us what beauty is! And then leave the people of color out of it! Let NO ONE define your beauty! Because you are Beautiful!
I clicked on this vid with an extremely negative bias and expectation. I must say I'm touched and extremely proud of Ebonee for taking to that stage and delivering this poignant talk. #MHGA
I can still feel the pain in her voice. She is absolutely beautiful.
you go baby. . . I am so proud of you. . . STAY strong
Yserick Gupta 4 💁💁💁
for what? She still believes white people are oppressing the blacks
Because they are.
So basically her struggling to fit into the industry because they already had a black girl or they already had someone with her look is all in her head and because she allowed it? lol byeeee
Petronella Risita There's struggle in every industry, it doesn't mean it's okay to spread hatred towards some race.
Wow... I am speechless. Ebonee is so beautiful and so intelligent. She said it better than anyone could! I have hope because of her
Karis Morales
I'm 4 whatever is right

sibria lol 😂 😂

Hope Jeannae Yes,this is beautiful. .

Every race is unique and has their something special.
in Brazil black people face the same problems... This must to change!
Nubia Daniella Del Santos Everywhere in the world that's how we are treated. Whether people don't change . We are beautiful and need no validation
I remember it happened to Nayara Justino, who lost out on a special honor by Brazil's TV Globo for being too dark-skinned.
Nubia Daniella Del Santos it will never stop ✋
I truly enjoyed this speech! Thank you TEDx for making this available to view! Ebonee did a fantastic job and she is so gorgeous!
This brought me to tears, she is such a trail blazer. As a model and actress I understand 100% what she means. I love everything she's doing. I will always support Ebonee Davis.
As soon as a black person talks about being black there's a problem🙄 I don't understand it
AndiNicole Official Thomas Sowell talks about being black without blaming white privilege in the same sentence. look how many blacks hate him for that.
she found out she doesn't need to straighten her hair, good job, now stop blaming whites for realizing it so late and you can grapple all the problems black or Hispanics or Chinese or Arabs have.
Sorry! are you a Black person?
Sorry! Are you a black person?
AndiNicole Official same with Muslims rn. You can never stop people from hating for NO REASON absolutely
Khilola Vahobova - yes you can just reverse it & turn it back on racists by asking them da same stupid questions!! Then you See how quick they shut their racists mouths up!!
For TED to have such an open minded and progressive audience, these comments are ignorant.
JaySavageTV Because they can say it through a screen but not in her face
She is beautiful

better than you And may I ask how many of the viewers can understand that it's not always about race?
sirma202000 Why are you so combative..? 🙄
Qhawe Qhawe Because I am disgusted by these people that are trying to make black people feel that they are not good enough, that they are being discriminated against by their skin colour, trying to make them blame their colour for everything that may go wrong in their lives. @@marcusrandolph902 funny I could say the same to many white modald, so what's your point?
She's very beautiful.
She is maturer than before, first time I know her was via ANTM. She was childish, now is change, she already became a pro model. Good for you!
It is still her. More evolved.
