The real superhero helmet is this mans face. This is by far the most helpful video I've come across on my journey to build my own helmet. Thanks so much man😊
For those who want the math to be simplified to make this quicker: Take your circumference and divide it by the default helmet circumference. The example in this video: 24 divided by 22 = 1.091 which is 109.1%
@@AKSEVEN4U. That tells you how to scale the sizing head. Then you make the helmet fit that. It won't be the same scale unless it was made to fit the default sizing head already.
I want to know how you translate the head size to the model? There isn't a head size for the standard model at 100% is it head 1 I assume but have no idea?
For those who might be wondering what "Axis Short" and "Axis Long" are on the head models, "Axis Short" is the length between the left and right side of the head in inches. And "Axis Long" is the length from the Parietal Bone to the ridge of the eyebrow if you measured it in a straight line.
Thank you! Got signposted here from Mystery makers group and this is going to help no end. Im going to try 3d map my own face at some point yo get even better accuracy. 2 helmets in and wrong size this week! Whoops!
Great video! Thank you. Starting to print some helmets for my daughter and this allowed me to scale them just a little big so she has some room to grow into them, SUBBED!!
Hey I want to say thank you so much for this! I’m printing an iron man suit and have managed to get everything scaled well except for the helmet; I just haven’t had a win. I have a feeling I’m going to get a well scaled helmet using this method! Thank you!
I try to keep it detailed and too the point, somethings are always important like asking for help sharing and supporting the video but other than that I get right to it
Thanks for this, honestly popped up in my feed at the most amazing time!! i tried first mando helmet a week ago printed too small even tho I measured!! so woke up today and decided to go for it! this video was an angel heaven sent ty :) subbed all the way!! also saving bustersword for later... :P
I personally like using Armorsmith because it's for the entire body. but this is a great free way to scale if you just want the helmet. Also if you're trying to line up multiple parts, just do it off of the build plate in Cura. That way they can float where ever you put them and they won't snap to the build plate.
I have a super fat head and I just printed some calipers but I think this method is gonna work a whole lot better for me thank you and I think I can even print the head itself if possible for other applications as well.
@@SaturdayMorningProps just watched a few other videos of yours, subscribed immediately. I printed a halo recon helmet that’s just a tad small. I’m going to do a E.O.D. Helmet next.
This is a great video series. I am designing an HMC using a scanned mannequin head (had to scale it up to match my head circumference of 23.5in. Ended up going to 24") but the head files will be extremely helpful. I also made sure to leave a 4.75mm space between the inside of the helmet for the padding (the padding will be 1/2in thick)
@@SaturdayMorningProps the other challenge of this is the different head shapes based on the ethnicity of the wearer. I'm also using Head 3 and I'll check the scale in the morning. I will be using it and modeling a shell in Plasticity
@@SaturdayMorningProps yee I heard that , but it's okay in gonna try out this anyways , thanks for sharing , I found this video from a elegoo group I'm in
You could also measure around your head and in cura you can see how big the inside of the helmet is, so you can snap scale it. Also armorsmith is really good if you want to fit a whole suit. I usually eyeball the helmets but don't eyeball a full suit (from experience).
Definitely would recommend armor smith for suits and doing tiny test rings for openings around thighs and wrists. This method is just helmets of course
@@Darkhell87 There is a measure tool which has two black dots that you can put anywhere and it will measure the distance, so you can just place them inside the helmet on both sides and it will tell you.
Awesome vid man this is exactly how I do it to hat size is a wicked idea for this BTW nice Deadpool lol I'll keep this in mind for my video recommendations very well explained
@Quest4Nostalgia you did awesome on that too man I hate math but is was easy to understand good job thanks for the compliment dude still be a subscriber no matter how pro I am and i gotta know which videos of yours to recommend to help others 😀 👍
Theres an application that helped with my current armor build called MakeHuman. Its free and basically you can size stuff like the chest circumference and shoulder length all the way to calf circumference. You can also export the model and import it in meshmixer for sizing.
@@SaturdayMorningProps Yeah I just stumbled upon it myself looking for armorsmith alternatives. Give it a go and see how it helps cause I also have yet to fully explore it
What I would do is get the circumference of the head in three areas. One around the neck, one around the ears and nose, and one around the jawline and the top of the head. Divide all of the measurements by pii and focus on sizing the head to fit the inner chamber of the helmet. Add a 1/4 of an inch for padding and that's how I did it. That or invest in calipers. Also use a fabric measuring tape.
Super accurate logic for sure, my original goal with this video was to help people sizing for customers, and If you think you are getting customers to send you that detailed of information 😂 I can't even trust them to measure their head half the time
@@SaturdayMorningProps I get it. That's why you provide diagrams on where to wrap it. But of course, the value is inaccurate when it comes to self measurement. So the hat method and referencing to the 3d heads provides a sure guide for accuracy.
