Hey Volks! Here is a 1968 VW Beetle that had a Britax Ragtop Sunroof Installed. I am getting there, should be done in a day or so, stay tuned for the next video. Interested in the video on installation? th-cam.com/video/6x40KGjjEVY/w-d-xo.html
Love seeing a later model looking like this! I have a 69 Beetle currently being restored. I considered the Zenith blue to look more vintage but am going for the original Diamond Blue, and a white detail with the Australian style chrome down the sides. Will need to replace the chrome trimmings for an older style to suit that trim though. I might have to look into those hub caps!
Nice video. I was very curious about these from Britax. Not my cup of tea but I should talk. I peeled my drip rails and grafted a rag into my '57 resto oval. Welded in. I won't be doing that again for me or anyone else. The bill for labor would have to be kinda high.
I’ve been thinking of having a sunroof just like this installed in my hard top 1965 Bug sedan. What’s a ballpark figure you’d expect to pay for a body shop to do the cutting aside from the kit? Thanks!
Hey there, I ordered this sunroof package, and now I’ve called a couple customization auto body places around me in Los Angeles, and now I’m hearing “nobody will touch a car like that for under $5,000”. Now, I’ve already sunk $17000 into this car over the years, just looking through the receipts I’ve kept in the glove box, there’s no way I’ll pay $5k of my money for someone to cut some sheet metal. Do you happen to have any contacts in Los Angeles or surrounding? I can even drive it out to the surroundings if I need to. Thanks. That quote had my BP rising, lol. But I’m sure with any suggestions from you and more searching, I’ll find a decent place and price.
How do you know if its numbers matching? My bug for example was built in July of 62. I looked up the engine, and it was also from July of 62. Do I need to send in for a birth cert to know for sure?
Follow up coming tomorrow! The upholstery shop charged 1000.00 to change up the slider mech. They dismantled it, then they sewed up the headliner and canvas top.
Looks exactly like my bug sans the giant hole in the roof 😉 Does the car still have its Z-Bar? Mine doesn't and I always wonder if I should try to source one
@@classicvwbugs Good! Looking forward to April when I'll be able to take the bug out of storage. Sucks not being able to drive it ~5 months out of the year 😭
I wouldn't mind if he kept the dash pad off...then went with an Ivory wheel & knobs...after that copy the interior from your Bordeaux red....only trade the brown piping for navy....

Clean....it doesn't hurt the value in my eyes one bit, but I know some people are into that
I have a 58 matched numbers and I want to do the ragtop, could that affect its value, mine is customized not original
Yes and no, depends how customized you go with the rest of the bug.

1000 bucks maybe
@@classicvwbugs Wow! 1) a reply from THE Chris Vallone, and B) $1000 plus the cost of the kit… that’s pretty doable. Thanks!
@@MrNurserob hell yeah man 👍

Need a follow-up video when it's done. Also how much was it to have it recovered by that shop?

ooooof. Cutting into that virgin bug roof just seems wrong to me!
