Blanding's Turtles! How great to see them in a video~ I'm actually involved in an ecological survey of various turtle populations within southern Wisconsin, and in the area we are conducting the survey, we have a population of Blanding's. They are gorgeous creatures, and it's nice to see them getting the attention they need.
Learned about these little dudes in one of my classes. I'm studying fish & wildlife conservation and my prof says these turtles are her favorite because they all look like they're smiling!
I saw one of them here in Wisconsin 13 or so years ago, was heading to a job site and saw it in the middle of the road on the center line. Pulled over to go move it and some low life saw me walking towards it, swerved and ran the poor thing over. The sound from it getting crushed still sends a chill up my spine.
In canal fulton ohio when i was in 5th grade we found two on our playground later that day i had a person bring in cockroaches and he said they were endangered so a girl in my grade took it home and released it in the pond behind her house
