For future reference using food coloring as a dye does work, but ONLY on natural fiber. I know this with absolute certainty because I've done it many times (I spin and dye my own yarn and I'd much rather use food coloring and Kool-Aid because they're cheaper and safer than legit dyes). Since that's a dollar store doll it's safe to assume that her hair is plastic and that's why the dye didn't take. But yeah, you should try messing around with dying fiber. Maybe you could learn how to use a drop spindle so you can make your own yarn and knit or crochet it into something evil...
Perhaps I'll place it on the windowsill. The screaming toddler with space buns is always standing outside staring into my window at Sniffledorf. It'll be a fun little surprise 😂
Someone has probably mentioned this already, but try the Sharpie dye method! It's a common cosplay tutorial and works on synthetic wigs. I did it myself to make a gradiant wig from red, orange to yellow. Might work a treat next time!
Your story about getting the doll head that the spacebun toddler wanted reminded me of a recent trip to Aldi with my bf. Two older women were yelling and looking like they were about to get physical over the last jar of minced garlic (where we live we've had so many lockdowns until recently that stockpiling is still kind of a problem). My boyfriend strolled over, reached over the squabbling women, and took the jar of garlic and walked away with it with a huge grin on his face. We didn't even need minced garlic 😂
I bought a couple 2 weeks ago. Cut along the hair line and remove it. I made a pin cushion with one and a desk planter with an Aloevera plant in it. Love em both. I do love the Mrs. Grinch!
Yay! 1st appearance of MSC on the channel! I’ve been recommending it as “texture in a can” for months as well as a good matt sealant to protect your paint work. Just make sure Sniffledorf doesn’t get anywhere near it until it’s dry (unless you have a tiny kitty cat rebreather which I wouldn’t put past you)
I love this man. What the heck the train sound when he said he had already made a doll head planter was a nice touch, as were the casual knife sounds as the kitty was scratching the babies hair. Instant sub. 😂👏🏼

XD For future reference though, dollar store doll hair is made from super cheap plastic, so you'd have a really hard time getting any dye to stick to it. You can try something like Rit Dyemore for synthetic materials and you might get results with that. But using paint and water is a good solution too!
You can dye doll hair with fabric dye just boil the dye first in a designated dye pot, and wash the hair with cold water multiple times to set the color. Or use markers they work pretty good but don’t permanently dye the hair like fabric dye does. Since doll hair is basically made of synthetics fabric dye will work just make sure you do a good job. Nicolles dreams has some great tutorials but it’s also a method used to dye plastic dolls though that can turn out questionable…

Hey Loon! If you ever want to dye doll hair again, try using RIT synthetic dye!
I second this! I used to dye MLP's this way, and mask off areas I didn't want dyed because it would dye everything
