      Whoops, I thought that I replied.
      Sorry.
      First, I charge up a Sour Staff shot to max to inflict a great deal of stun damage. Whittle Wizard adds to this value, as well.
      Second, I run up to the Mantis with my first salty-infused club that uses Finale Goo to slow down the Mantis's attacks enough to build up the rest of the needed stagger value. If one's not beside it when it gets out of its beginning animation, it will likely jump and ruin the chain that comes next. It should try doing one or two normal attacks before doing an overhead charge or triple slam, which gives one enough time to reliably stun it if the Sour Staff's shot hits it.
      Third, once I notice that it's stunned, I quickly throw that infused club, as I have another ready that has +Mantis Damage, and switch my mutation set with one that has Barbarian. One could alternatively open their inventory to switch to the other infused club, but throwing the previous one is quicker and deals an additional hit. (On another note, I hope that Obsidian makes it so you can switch items that should not stack, as it counts the two Infused Clubs as the same item, preventing hotbar item use.)
      Last, the combined damage of those two boosts amplifies the player's power so much that even its boosted defense values reached at 50% and 25% of its health does little to prevent a quick death.
      It's possible to do this with just one powered infused club, but I wanted to reduce the luck element of this strategy.

    • @KCGemini
      @KCGemini 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      A salty Broodmother Club at level 9/10 still does heavy damage to it, and one or two of you using the Sour Staff to time the spawn start would stun it even faster than I did here. Although you can get Science Cones at a low % from Black Ox Beetles on NG+1, you should aim for a good Science Waffle with Implant Weakness: Salt and +Boss or +Mantis damage to make it easier.

    My hubby and I are doing absolutely everything we can trying to beat NG+4 Mantis on MILD and here you are just sweeping it under the rug like it never existed and before it could even summon in the smaller Mantids.
    Like props to you bro/sis but what the actual f*ck.

    • @KCGemini
      @KCGemini 10 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I don't know what you two are doing as a strategy for fighting it, but doing this together should be more manageable overall.
      Starting the battle with a charged shot from the Sour Staff is essential, as this builds up a considerable chunk of stun in the boss. Positioning is important at the beginning because the charged shot should travel towards the boss, but you both also have to be in melee range before the Mantis's animation for starting the battle finishes. Otherwise, it will likely jump and put you two at the mercy of its RNG. Wittle Wizard for extra stun shouldn't be necessary with two players, as with two Infused Clubs (or Salt Morning Stars, though I recommend the former), it should be all needed to apply the stun to the Mantis before it does one of its major attacks. While stunned, Barbarian can be safely used to increase club damage even further, which, with proper trinket/weapon abilities, can help defeat the Mantis before it does much of anything.
      For best results, both of you should use lv. 13-15 Infused Clubs with at least Salty Damage Up Best. If you can get that with Salty Damage Up Best / +Mantis or +Boss damage, that would be even better, as infused weapons could only get one ability before the later patches. A Science Cone / Glowbasa Necklace should also be used with it, which should have Implant Weakness: Salt and Salty Damage Up Best.
      Past that, there's not too much of a strategy due to Mantis taking very high damage from this setup.
      On another note, this is how it looks when two people apply this strategy. Credit to Idea Green: th-cam.com/video/0DJ6D1TbsmA/w-d-xo.html

      Yeah. I'm going to be trying to replicate your build as much as possible tomorrow with him since it's his day off, and we can just grind together as opposed to just me.
      We have a Lvl 15 Salty Broodmother Club, use the Mantis wall mount buff, down a Liquid Rage and either Toast, Box Burger or Quesadillantion and we're still doing practically nothing, but since researching the Fire Ant set I think that's what we're missing to actually deal a good chunk of damage, so thanks for the tip ^^

      @@KCGemini Hubby's internet played up all day, so it was just me on my own yet again. However, I just want to give you my HUGE thanks as that build really did it. I was able to take a huge chunk out of the big mantis's health before she summoned the two smaller ones and they absolutely mogged me, so I decided to back up and used my level 12 Ant Queen Staff and thanks to the added acid effect from the kneecaps I was able to finish her off from afar.
      HUGE relief to finally hit that milestone. I was really about to give up because the fight at NG+4 just felt SO unfair to the point of being impossible, but this really changed my outlook.
      Thanks SO much! 💙

      It's the same fight, but some attacks, such as the scream and overhead lunge, are still unblockable, preventing a no-damage run without luck with stagger timing. Due to its lack of generic resistance, it has always taken severe damage with a salty Broodmother Club, so adding the new trinket modifiers, buffs, and the increased power of infused clubs does a number on it.
      I want to do a more exciting video when Obsidian corrects these issues, as they have changed the properties of some of its attacks. For example, the 5-hit combo is now blockable, whereas before, it would bleed the player even if one perfectly blocked it.
