Both massive powerlifters, i feel Ray rellies more on his powerful Squat and gains a lot of points there while Daniel has a better lift ratio al around, Dan squat was massive but not close to Rays 490 but Ray loses a lot of pounds on his deadlift
Glad I found this oldie but a goodie video. Right up my alley as a competition powerlifter. The first thing I would like to point out is.... Bell used a deadlift bar, and Ray used a stiff bar in the comparisons. That is an advantage to Bell, and a substantial one. I call deadlift a wash. Ray wins squats. Bell wins bench. Tie in the deadlift. As for speculation about Ray shitting the bed a few months later and "coming off cycle".... During that time he got married and had a kid. Talk about "natural causes" of some ones training going to hell... and as a tested lifter who was aging after YEARS of squatting over 1000lbs in meets and training... something has to give and the decline starts somewhere. While "drug tested" doesn't mean "drug free" have you heard of "Occam's Razor"? Well the simplest explanation is usually the answer. A 15% decline could also just be a shitty peak from not sleeping due to a newborn...... So... since we are at a draw.... the tested lifter should win. Cheers
Doubt ray is natural but sure he has to keep his blasts in check to get around the testing. Should switch federations and go on a crazy blast to see what he can do
You also need to factor is Walk-Out vs Mono, squat depth, and finally Deadlift vs Stiff bar. Ray has pulled 870+ with a stiff bar and likely could pull 900 with a Texas DL bar...
@04:45 - i am surprised to see kyrill in the top 10. never thougt that he was a full lifter - not sticking only to his (world record) bench press. however - these numbers of kyrill add up to 1082,5 kg, not as showed 1072,5 kg. can someone confirm? or am i bad at math?
Great video as always , but not to spread any hate , reaching these numbers naturally is highly unlikely to happen , these guys are up there with the strongest strong men which most people would agree they are not natural .
Could have sworn I've seen Dan bench more than 578 but maybe I'm imagining things. I don't follow PL as closely as SM Dan will get 2500 in sleeves , I think for sure. By the way, have you seen that Mitchell Hooper just deadlifted 475kg? A completely new contender for deadlift appeared out of nowhere

The deadlift is closer than it looks- Ray pulled on a stiff bar, and Bell pulled on a deadlift bar. No way to know for certain what the difference is, but Ray could've definitely pulled more on Dan's set up, and Daniel would've pulled less on Ray's.
Deadlift is an extremely unfair comparison. Ray used and IPF stiff bar and the other used a deadlift bar. Both should be compared under the same circumstances.
Ray will never be on Dans level. Ray is a fat unhealthy steroid user. That's why his numbers flopped recently, he was off cycle. Dan continues to get stronger as Ray gets weaker. Dan already broke his record easily.
Great comparison! 👍 Have you heard about Carl Christianson? He totaled 1200 and he was only in his 20s. I think he would be a great comparison for any current powerlifter.

Agreed. I also think Bell is capable of a lot more in the bench. Ray is a squat monster but Bell is much more rounded.

Dan Bell blows Ray out of the water. He was a one hit wonder with only a good squat. His numbers flopped recently, he's clearly uses PEDs.

but Ray did all the lifts with a stiff bar.....DB did his with a SQT bar and deadlift bar....they are both massively strong men.

it is 1082.5kg but only the database only counts the first 3 lifts.
I would be surprised if one of the strongest men in history was NOT on this list !!
