    Suzuki’s engines and engineering seem to frequently go under the radar .. their engines are reputed to be fantastic. Probably from their motor bike development. If Toyota use their engines - they can’t be bad !

      I read somewhere that the company who supply turbochargers to Suzuki (for their boosterjet engines) also supply to Ferrari!

    Mechanically Suzuki are right up there with the best in terms of reliability. I got my dad an sx4 6 years ago and he hasnt had any trouble at all with it. Yeah they are cheap inside and you are spot on about the seats, they are dreadful, but they are good value and tend to look well. This certainly looks really good. Great value.

      Bit more support in the seats would be good alright

    I agree. Looks like a nice car for the money. Better than what I started out with as a first car.

    Regardless of price, the Swift is a fantastic looking little car. 👌

    I have the earlier model and it doesn't seem like they've changed much. Lovely little car and great fun to drive.

    I bought to his exact same car brand new two weeks ago, it's a really good set of wheels. The adaptive cruise control is brilliant for long journeys and the car is a real character 😊 65mpg so far although I'm taking it easy running in the engine. I have had plenty of Suzuki motorcycles, my wife had a SX4 car for 5 years and we have never had anything wrong at all... Bullet proof!

      Rarely hear a bad word about their cars to be honest 👌🏻

    I would have loved something like that starting out. My first car was Toyota starlet.. no air con, no power steering, tape deck. No alarm, etc....

    Windy windows!! Nobby I'm sold. Brings me back to my youth 😀 Less than a tonne? That makes a remarkable change these days and explains much of the economy with the go juice. And it's a hybrid too? With screens, aircon, radar cruise control and all that stuff? The Alpine A110 guys weighed every bolt and bit of trim to get it to an actual 1100kgs and Suzuki do it without breaking a sweat? Fair play. Drum brakes? 😲Ah here.. Mind you the screen on the dash is a little bit too modish for me, though in fairness I drive in the 90's on a daily basis and even that has leccy windows and disk brakes all round.

    As you say would make a fantastic starter car, proving the insurance for it isn't too high. Amazed by how much detail you're actually able to cram in in 7 minutes!

    Suzuki's are probably one of the best engineered vehicles on the market. Great value for money and cheap to fix. Other car brands over price their vehicles and it's a joke tbh.

    I’m with you Mark. This is a terrific car. You asked what else for the same price range. I’d say the new Sandero is a reasonable competitor too.

      It sure is, this feels a little fancier on the inside though

    • @andrew2353
      @andrew2353 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The Swifts price is very similar to a spec'd up Sandero and the Swift is arguably a better long-term choice as Suzuki ranks among the top car manufacturers for reliability.

    The only gripe I have with it, is that it really should have a sixth gear available with the smaller engines.

    I did a test drive in this model at a main dealer a few years ago One major fault for me was the absence of a foot rest beside the clutch forcing you to put your foot under the clutch pedal. You did not mention this if it had a foot rest. Also wind noise was prominent on motorways.

    • @NobbyOnCars
      @NobbyOnCars  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can buy a space saver wheel for about £140. There is a round indentation in the boot for the wheel to sit nicely.

    Suzuki have always been good at producing motorbikes and not so much cars. It’s not the engineering that lets them down, so much as the design department. They have all the styling and street credibility of a fridge. Really only appealing to grandmas. Why don’t they employ some new designers to bring vehicles into the mainstream? If you can live with the styling, I’m sure it’s probably a good reliable budget motor.

    • @NobbyOnCars

      Nothing at all wrong with the styling, what an utter load of nonsense, and what's all this 'starter car ," business about ??? Must be a wealthy starter if you can afford to spend £17,200 on a "budget first car" The irony is, I suspect most "budget" buyers can't afford one and so use finance !! 🙄
