It was a little confusing. It appears the athletes were put in specific heats based on prior time and the participants in the final were simply the 8 with the best time in the “semifinals”. I also take it this was an “open” (all comers) meet. This is one of the great parts of track and field: everyone can get out and try to do their best and all are welcome. The winners did great, but this is also a case where every participant should be congratulated and pleased with how she did that day. Well done everyone.
