EVERYTHING about this review made me smile. The intro, the impressions, Bryan's enthusiasm. Given the rocky history this game had, I am so happy the finished product lives up the legacy of the IP. I hope to get ahold of this someday. Great job, Bryan. Thank you.
As a Metal Gear Solid superfan myself this is one of the best and entertaining reviews I have ever watched. MGS is a very special game for me because the video game is the game that made me a gamer for life, and appreciate every game as a work of art. And now being also a board gamer I feel like a full circle and my two favourite hobbies came in perfect harmony.
I hate to say it, but I think I would've been more interested in picking up this game if it wasn't a 1:1 board game version of MGS1. I absolutely love the IP and I would've preferred a new story instead of the same thing in a different form.
Oooh so that’s where I’m torn. I love this world but it may be the one property in which new stories are things I want but only from Kojima and that may never happen now lol.
This review was amazing and made even better for calling out Dave Meltzer's nonsense! 😂😂 I also really, REALLY appreciate you showing off the retail version so that we see what we'd be getting in that way. I'm all for fancifying a game sometimes, but I want to know with certainty if I'm getting minis or tokens. Edit: I was waiting for someone to call out, "Drake? Drake! Draaaaaaaaake!!"
Oh my gosh you don’t know how irritated I was last night that it hit me that I should have said, “This is Drake” I was so hoping someone would catch the Meltzer reference lol😂
I read the title as "... with Bryan, The Game Eater," for some reason. Game looks really cool, and it seems like it's all contained in one box(like not a crazy CMON KS) via retail. Also Bryan wanted to ask: Do you have your own painting channel/vids? It'd be awesome too see you, and maybe even Joey, painting some plastic. Plus the fact you're both magicians is awesome too :)
I agree on everything but the rulebook. If it was as great as you make it seem none of the playtroughs on youtube would interpret rules differently (LoS, where to move guards when they hit a wall, when they're on top of the arrows, etc...)
I honestly can’t figure out why there’s so much trouble with that. It’s pretty clear to me in the first mission but then again I may be underthinking it when playing.
So excited to play my copy when it comes in. Getting the edition with the graphic novel rulebook so glad to hear the gameplay holds up! Cant wait to use the minis for Spectre ops as well
Wowwww! You've got me so excited for my pre order to arrive! It sounds like the designers truly have love for the IP. You and I are in a similar boat of already being a bit biased due to loving the IP. But this sounds so fun. How's the playtime? Does it feel like it will be fairly accessible for non fans of the IP? Maybe so with such a good rulebook. Thanks for the Vid!
My problem is the price. I bought Earth Under Siege: Flashpoint for 120 and this game wasn’t much less, yet EUS is a way bigger game with a ton more going on than just stealth and IP. Love the IP but hard pass.
You can skip MG1, but don't sleep on Metal Gear 2. If you love Kojima weirdness and subversion, Metal Gear 2 is a must-play, especially as a fan of the series.
@@DicetowerBryan You are correct about 5, but that’s more of a retcon. It’s a fun one that helps explain MG2 a bit more, but you don’t need it to have a blast with MG2. I know you’ve got a lot on your plate, but it’s not super long, and also you may appreciate it more now after the board game because MGS1 does feel a lot like a 3D riff on MG2.
@ that’s a good point. I’ve been meaning to do it since the master collection. And it’s a crying shame we never find out how gray fox joined fox hound.
@@DicetowerBryan final thoughts dont matter unless i see gameplay. There are many games that reviewers review well but are not my style of games. Im sure plenty of people like your style but sadly not me!
Awesome Snake impression 😆
Thanks so much!
It's actually like REALLY good
@@RochRuffini would you say, “hey you’re pretty good”
Incoming lawsuit from David Hayter xD you did so good with his voice :)

Thanks so much! I remember when I heard it was never coming out and the. Boom the good news came! So glad it turned out this way.
That snake voice… INSANELY good!
I’ve been practicing for 25 years lol!

That’s such a good way to put that. I think it was the first game (Chrono Trigger) that had me emotionally invested as cinema.
Being there playing MGS on the Ps1 was an experience I will never forget. So glad the board game captures it so well.
Right! I totally agree. It was a moment in time.
Killed the impression! More intros like this please!
I may have to bring them back!
David Hayter and Hideo Kojima would approve the intro. Awesome.
But would Kiefer Sutherland sadly lol 😂 I do feel like my Otacon is pretty solid heh.
@@DicetowerBryanotacon was insane too 😂
@@DicetowerBryan Yeah Otacon was great too. Great job.

Great review Bryan, thanks 😊 And you are doing an fantastic imitation of Snake 👍 I'm also a fan of the franchise.
I’m also partial to my otacon impression lol!
This game surprised me so much. Its amazing and so frickin thematic!
Right! I was blown away by that first mission being so true to the game!- Bryan.

I’m even more excited to get my copy of this now! Love metal gear solid and this is excellent news.
It’s just so good!
Glad I wasnt the only one making MGS1 memes during the winter storm here
Yes!!! I looked outside and knew Vulcan Raven was about to drive a tank up.
Great review, great intro! Really enjoyed it.
It was so much fun to do. Thanks!

I used to do painting videos. Maybe I’ll bring some back. I did really enjoy that.
Mine is arriving tomorrow (🤞). I’ve been waiting since PAX Unplugged 2019. Sometimes dreams do come true.
Same! I met Emerson at Dice Tower East that year and have been pumped ever since!

Love your intro

I thought that was David Haytr for a second.
That right there is an honor. Konami….? Need a backup?

I just got mine in the mail today. So excited to get into it
@patrickn2298 main got a bit delayed but should be in next week. Hope you have fun!
Best intro ever.
I definitely cracked my self up shooting it.

Missions can breeze or you can somewhat slow roll until the timer runs close.
Great impressions, just realised you sound a lot like Troy baker too.
That’s a heck of a compliment lol!
Mine arrived today and it's all I plan on doing tomorrow. MGS is my fave game of all time so it was no question I was gonna get the game.
Let me know what you think when you play it!
I was interested in getting this, but I only play multiplayer board games
I will say don’t sleep on the later missions with more characters and the VR missions.
Lol "Mcdonald Miller"
He makes amazing hamburgers in 5 lol!
I can definitely see this game being played with a MGS soundboard
Oh 100%!
Give us a Decoy Octopus!
Right! Or I guess he’s like John Cena in this case and is there even if we can’t see him.
damn, I'm so sad I missed out on the kickstarter for this
It wasn't crowdfunded. It was a preorder with only a mini and a book which both aren't needed for gameplay.
Snaaaaaaake!
Impressive Snake!
Does this contain the entire video game?
It does.
Great game though I wish the rule book was a bit better.
I gave the rule book a 10/10 for the way it thematically teaches you the game.
Does it include a surveillance camera?
It does lol!
I mean, “a surveillance camera!?”
A surveillance camera?!

To be fair there’s so much content and more than just straight stealth because the different types of missions.

Skip MG1? Absolute worst take I have ever heard
