One thing I've learned is that, if a movie/show is mixed poorly, it doesn't matter if you have a $300 or a $4000 center channel speaker, it'll probably still sound like crap. I can hear right away with most movies if it's mixed well and/or recorded well, even with my basic smaller Polk center channel in my 5.1 system. I have an Onkyo receiver and it hasn't caused me a single issue yet. It did take some tuning even in a small room, to get it in the sweet spot. But I can hear with most new films alone, if they're mixed garbage if there's no center action, or poor center action. It usually won't sound distorted, it will just lack clarity in the dialogue, or sound too low, level-wise, etc. I have Klipsch for my front left/rights because I wanted the sheer clarity of Klipsch. They definitely have delivered that.
@@Gimmesoup88 It's scary for sure. The thing is I sat here months ago in my HT room, and screened Rush Live DVD (concert), and it sounded beyond belief great, like I was sitting behind Neiils' drum kit, or in front, then I screened a copy of the blu ray of Gran Torino, and, although I'd seen the DVD before, the blu ray sounded AWFUL!!! And, not only that, someone on Amazon reported they had the same exact issues with their copy, dialogue too low, sounded fuzzy, the whole mix was bad!! It looked good, but sounded atrocious. I don't recall it sounding that way on cable or DVD. Very weird. Could just be crap mastering? But, the RUSH live DVD sounded unreal!
@@Zoranurai13 I haven't owned any super high end systems, speakers, but, I could see that if you had such a system, you'd hear bad sounding stuff even more acutely and painfully on one. It's like listening to to some old sludgy destroyed worn out 8 track tape on your brand new $20000 headphone amp and Hifiman planar heapdhones. Not really worth it.
@@thiscorrosion900 Quite funny you should mention about the difference between DVD and Blu Ray - I was watching Enemy of The State last night, it was Blu Ray tho - but the sound was Dolby D/DTS - no HD Master or TrueHD. And the dialogue was great from all the actors, no muddiness or muffled sound - but when I'm watching some Blu Ray with HD Master or TrueHD - it's like 50/50 if the dialogue is gonna be awful. I don't know what they are doing with the HD sound, but for some reason it's either a hit or a miss.
What makes it so cool, the unfinished walls and floors, the silly figurines on top of all the speakers that will surely make terrible rattle noises or the ugly orange shower curtains? You must live in a shack in South Africa
I don't know if it's possible but few years ago you did a review on SVS ultra center channel speaker. You gave it a thumbs up, it would be cool if you can do a comparison on SVS ultra center against the Klipsch RP-504 CII
I currently have the Klipsch RC 52 II center speaker and was looking for a Klipsch replacement. Because of your review I just purchased the Klipsch Reference Premiere RP-504C II Ebony Center Channel Speaker from Amazon for $587 (tax and shipping). Arrives tomorrow. Thanks for the review!
I have a thing for Klipsch. I got a full surround setup in my house when I bought it, and it's all the good stuff from a few years ago - RC7 center and RS7 surrounds, with a pair of La Scala's for the mains. I have no notes... it's flawless. All the electronics were taken, but the speakers and screen/projector stayed with the house. I hooked up my old receiver to it and tested to see what worked, and all of it did, so I was thrilled and have been ecstatic since. I have yet to watch anything though, because the projector is simply too old - I don't have anything that connects through DVI-D anymore. I need to upgrade that to something more modern with an HDMI input and I can watch some movies, but I absolutely love the Klipsch speakers - they're rather powerful because they're super efficient. 😀
My buddy used 2 of the Klipsch RP504-C as front side surrounds. He's using Klipsch Reference towers as his centers. Currently running a 13.2.4(he's actually running 8 ceiling speakers) setup. His large fronts are the Klipsch RF7-III.
The 504C II is one of the best horizontal centers you can buy, especially for that price. Some Klipsch fans even prefer it to the RC-64 III. Side note: HSU is amazing.
@ice_hot it all depends how you use it in a living room set up where you are sitting on a couch let's say a 3 seat couch it should be completely fine and will sound pretty much the same in all 3 spots if you are doing a dedicated theater with rows and different heights you'll hear something different might be better might be worse a 3 way will sound pretty similar in that situation but a coaxial would be the absolute best for that kindof situation anyways I've boosted setting made some speakers 6db hotter then the others and all non audio enthusiasts couldn't tell the difference so I'd buy whatever you'd like and sit in the sweet spot
@@Sc2God724 makes a lot of sense… over on the various a/v forums with all the graphs people are saying just to use a third bookshelf which tbh at this point I’m just going to buy this and be happy lmao
Obvious next level up in the Klipsch lineup is the RC-64iii with a proper compression driver on the horn. Then theres the JBL HDi-4500 - would love you to review the HDi series in general. Or theres some DIY centres like the DIYSG 1099 centre but theyre diy and not always available
If you dont want to paint the wall... then buy a large flat-black curtain, to hang back there. It will help absorb reflections, as well as reduce glare from the TV, when played in the Dark.
i went from a Polk RM-202 (from my first 5.1 satellite system) to a Klipsch R-34C to the RP-504Cii. I use it with a pair of RP-600Miis, along with other Klipsch and Polk speakers in my 7.2.4 bedroom HT. I'd like to get some towers for my L/R, but it'll be a while since I've recently bought a new TT (Rega P2) and phono preamp. The center channel will probably live with me for a long time.
Regardless of price, I would never purchase a non-coaxial MTM center channel unless I am always going to be the sole viewer and seated directly on-axis. They exhibit very narrow, non-uniform horizontal directivity because it is effectively a standard MTM placed on its side. A sane center channel design entails either a coaxial tweeter and midrange (such as KEF) or a vertically arranged tweeter and midrange, flanked by bass midwoofers. Quite an important consideration if there are going to be multiple viewers.
Well said, that's the exact reason why I got a KEF Q650c instead. My fronts are the RP-600M2 , yea they don't match but with Dirac it doesn't matter. The off-axis performance on a coaxial driver is much better than a MTM configuration.
Dark City was an awesome movie, but the ending was missing some important bits, like, "How did they get to the City," and, "Is the City on Earth", "Where did the Strangers come from?", etc.
FINALLY! I can't tell you how long I have beenw waiting for you to review a Klipsch Centre channel. Have you had a chance to try the RC-64 III yet? It's even more of a beast than this one (which is why I'm considering it to complitment my pair of Fives).
I replaced my jbl 520C with an Emotiva C1+ center channel. I love it. FL/FR, SL/SR are JBL 530, 4 Atmos Emotiva A1, sub SVS SB12 NSD, AV Receiver Denon AVR-X4700H
I have the baby brother to that monster, the original Klipsch Reference Premiere RP-500C, which I use with RP-400's as left and right mains, and two Klipsch Reference Premiere RP-402S for surround. It sounds wonderful. I only have a 19" wide space for a center channel, so the RP-500C was as big as I could go. And yes, my center channel has two 5.25" woofers, compared to 4" woofers on everything else (except my 10" subwoofer). That was done very deliberately, as the center channel, when you do TV and home theater, is, by far, the most important speaker in a 5.1 system. It actually makes a lot of sense for it to be the LARGEST of the bunch, unless you are doing 2.0, 2.1 for music as well as 5.1 for home theater. I was SHOCKED at how much low-end came out of a center channel that goes down "only" to 60 hz. I had to use the internal equalizer on the AVR to set the cut-off to 80 Hz! The sound is clear and natural, and dialog is super clear. That's all I really want. For the $$$ spent, Klipsch and JBL make all the speakers you need for home theater. You can spend a LOT more, but why? Horny tweeters are just what you want for home theater use. That's what they use in all the movie theaters. And you are 100% right about JAMO....have a set of those as well for an ancient AVR that I keep i the basement. Don't really need anything beyond them. Welcome to the horny club.
I have a Monitor Audio Silver C350 3-way center channel tall boy to compliment my Monitor Silver 300 speakers and SVS SB-3000 sub, all in gloss piano black. It is so far beyond the cheap Polk center I had before, especially when watching a solidly mixed 4k blu ray. I have to keep the grill on it because it easily distracts people sitting under my TV, gold dome tweeter above a 4in mid-driver between two 6in woofers will pull your eyes right to it. Kicks ass with my Onkyo RZ-50, the Dirac calibration really helped it in my room.
Running the first gen RP-450c with the RP-280f’s as my front sound stage. Complete overkill for the room I have them in, but for the price they are quite nice.
I just got the 450 that replaced the r51 or whatever that cheap small center channel was that came in a bundle deal.. Fucking night and day and now i can set my tv on it.. Big upgrade.. im in a 7x11' room
What may be an overall better recommendation especially considering the price, is the RP500C II. I picked it up a couple weeks ago on sale for $300. If someone was able to get it for the same sales price it would be a great deal even though the performance may be slightly lower than the 4 driver. See if you can get one in for review just to compare, although I doubt it would be worth a whole new video. I’m happy with it!
I look at the volume of this beast, I look at the volume of soundbars, I look at the volume of this beast ... DSP in Soundbars does help, and saving space or having a more compact speaker would be nice, but it`s always fighting instead of using physics.
Zeos, what are the orange towers flanking the TV screen. I love the look. I met you at AXPONA 24 and it was pretty cool. I talked to you about the Morel Biggie Bluetooth speakers. Have you ever gotten to hear a pair (or even 1). I still keep hoping that a review will pop into my feed.
I have an svs SB 3000 sub hooked up to klipsch McLaren 5's, Now debating on getting ultra speakers, SVS ultra center channel is apparently really good.
Im using klipsch RP-280FA for my left and right, i have an extra klipsch RP-280FA and was wondering if i can use it for my center channel under my projector screen
I have a Klipsch Reference Dolby Atmos Surround system. I replaced the center channel with the HSU CCB-8. How does this center channel compare to this Klipsch center channel? Cause I replaced the center because you said the CCB-8 was the king of center channels and I love it. Just wanted to see what you thought. Thanks! Love your videos. - Evan
Its been a hot minute since I had the CCB-8 around. My usual metric is if you have doubts you probably are bored of what you have and an upgrade is immanent. This would be one way you can do that. Keeping it all Klipsch but going with their newest tech mixed with what you have for the rest of the system.
@@ZReviewsOh, I’m not bored of thr CCB-8 by any means. lol. I was just wondering if you remembered off chance the feeling you had maybe and how it compared. I think my next upgrade would be a new receiver. I have the Yamaha TSR-700. That’s really the thing in my system that I think is lacking at the moment.
Hi sir, I am from India and I have to choose between neumi bs5 and Cambridge audio SX 50, which pair should I buy ? I have watched your reviews on both pairs. Plz reply soon . Thanks.
help... i have a fireplace + mantel and my rc62 ii wont fit... only have a mantel that's 6.75" deep...any idea of a slim line center speaker that could work with some rp600m's? im renting so i wont be doing any mods to the mantel....
Please review the Focal EVO 8... because you tried the KRK Rokit 8 G4. OR Try the RCF ayra pro 8. RCF is a very good PA company trying studio monitor would LOVE your input.
I currently have a Polk CsiA6 and I've wanted to upgrade for awhile, but I''m not sure what the next logical step would be. Doesn't seem worth it to spend money for a lateral move. Curious if something like this would be worth it? Been looking at an SVS Ultra Center. I've had good experiences with SVS as a company and even bought a PC-4000 sub which has been kicking butt for a few years.
I wish i had the money to buy any of the set ups I have in mind. Im just too poor to have cool stuff i guess. I make do with my little PA3s and some old 3 ways. My heart just wants to have some of the good stuff.
Any speaker from Power Sound Audio. I know you reviewed the MT110s a long time ago, but PSA makes very very horny speakers. Their center offerings (which are dual 10s or dual 12s now in MTM configuration) are CRAZY good.
Look up the RP 600c. Much smaller in total size BUT it has 2x 6.5" woofers instead of 4x 5.25" woofers. Its a trade off. Id get that over the 404 personally.
Hello Z, I've been pondering this question lately as I'm planning out my future surround system. I came across a video and the guy talked about how the usual center channel setup (woofer-tweeter-woofer) isn't ideal because some frequencies would cancel out and the sound projection isn't wide, he referenced the globe chart. That limits center channels severely, not that there were much options to begin with. So is that really that important?
You want a horny center? I just picked up a Klipsch Legend Series KLF-C7 center, which has dual 8" woofers and the same horn loaded tweeter from the KLF series. It really does sound amazing! Left and right I have the classic KLF-10's, along with two 10" klipsch subs. Rear I have two 6.5" Klipsch towers and a near field Klipsch RP-1200SW. For Atmos I have four Klipsch 8" in ceiling speakers. Driving this I have a Yamaha RX-A8A and Yamaha PC2002 (front channel amp). Can you tell I like Klipsch? Lol
In my limited horizontal space it seemed to work 90% or better in all the space I had. I think they tune the outer drivers to do less of the important frequencies. So the Horn is all you really focus on.
I am surprised actually that you never suggested using this mono blocked instead of a sound bar, because we all know how much you love sound bar alternatives…
@@ZReviews Yep, i'm using Heresy's for main L+R and sit on the sweetspot mostly, also those are heavily angled inwards, crossing over in front of the sweetspot, so it "diffuses" the phantom area pretty good on a 3 person couch.
no my friend you are wrong Klipsch Rp series no line can't sound as good as Thx series most people say Klipsch Rp-504cii tweeter sounds harsh but Thx series sounds neutral it never has harsh sounds Thx series just needs a subwoofer because the bass is weak but Thx series has real cinema sounds rp series standard model. in addition, there is a port behind the 504cii, it is not suitable for every room, it gives a lot of bass, it causes the mid-mid bass to disappear, the sounds are muffled, but you can't have such a problem with the thx series, the thx series sounds very clean, and you can hear people's dialogues clearly in movies
I absolutely love my Airmotiv C2+ in my small tv/theater room 10'-9" x 11'-1" x 7'-5" I started with the SVS Prime and could not get it right in my setup, but this c2+ is outstanding.
I know you were a huge fan of jbl studio 5 series but have you gotten your hands on studio 6 ? I currently have the studio 665c and if jbl called me and said their was a mistake and they changed me $799 and they were supposed to charge me $1000 my fucking wallet would fly out of my pocket and smack me in the face id be ok because its that fucking good lol. Love your reviews man
OMG why are YOU so helpless! just put tape behind the grille fabric & take Dremel tool and carefully trim the plastic that sits in front of the drivers! off the grille we have to use grilles and also build a black chicken wire cover over all the speakers to keep the cats OFF them !
If youre interested in object based surround like Dolby Atmos, DTS-X, Auro3D, dont do it the way Zeos suggests. Object based surround doesnt depend on which sounds are mixed to each of the channels like traditional surround codecs. They place sounds in the 3D soundfield. So ideally you want identical speakers in all positions, or at least speakers timbre matched with identical drivers. Not everyone can do that, obviously, but the approach Zeos described deviates a whole lot from the ideal. If you arent interested in object based surround, then disregard what I said. Happy listening.
Different Speakers and a room correction "device" would be much smarter than blowing money on way too expensive rear channels. Because the room correction will do more than just match the speakers.
@@miagi1337 Not in my experience, at least with the bed layer, but everything is a trade-off. I use Anthem ARC room correction, and when I went to all the same speakers for the bed layer, my atmos films improved significantly vs my previous set-ups. Its just a completely different approach to surround mixing vs the traditional surround sound.
@@miagi1337 Also, this isnt just personal experience or an opinion. I converted a room to a theater in 2019 and did a ton of research. I encourage anyone interested in Atmos etc to check the suggested guidelines and get as close to them as possible. If I had done as Z suggested - which is how I used to do things previously too - and then found out how much different object-based guidelines are after just spending a bunch of money the old way, I wouldve been pretty frustrated. I get really impressive effects within the 3-dimensional soundfield largely because my bed layer is identical. I couldnt afford to upgrade the atmos channels, but I def plan to driver match those as best I can when the budget permits. But its important for people to know just how different the approach is now with these codecs. Its not just more speakers, its a completely different way of recreating the soundtrack.
I mean yeah if you're building a legitimate Atmos but most surround receivers can all I still do a limited number of speakers. Honestly those setup should be Limitless but the hardware does not exist for the consumer market right now
i have a home theater question!! im i rigth, when i say that a square room. is perfect for a home theater, and that a room with window/weird angel walls and roof. would make the sound worse!! because if there a angels on walls and roof and so on, the sound would have to move weird. so im i rigth, when i wrote a guy. that there is a reason, that proffesional home theater builder. build square rooms, because a square room gives the best sound? because why would all big home theater audiofiles, always build square rooms? imo this guy, was a idiot. for replying to me, that a square room would do nothing to the sound being better!!

Horn Center
Klipsch RC64 III (match for RF7 III)
JBL Studio 6 series
JBL HDI 4500
Power Sound Audio makes a few horn centers
And of course JTR
J TR also has horn loaded tweeters in their speakers. Pretty sure they cost a lot more than $700 though!
Yes ! Upgrade the other style ones. To hell it’s the market research.
i have an emotiva surround setup and the c2 center is only 350, and imo all of the emotiva speakers sound better than the Klipsch speakers i have.
The virginity center checks out lol.
Hoping you would do the center.
Check out the Tannoy range. Astonishing with absolutely no WAF
How do you feel about the Monoprice ( the good ones) subs?
I look at the volume of this beast, I look at the volume of soundbars, I look at the volume of this beast ...
DSP in Soundbars does help, and saving space or having a more compact speaker would be nice, but it`s always fighting instead of using physics.
Zeos, what are the orange towers flanking the TV screen. I love the look.
I met you at AXPONA 24 and it was pretty cool. I talked to you about the Morel Biggie Bluetooth speakers. Have you ever gotten to hear a pair (or even 1). I still keep hoping that a review will pop into my feed.

11:53 - went full bill o'reilly lol
Which would you recommend between Klipsch RP 404 CII, RP 500 CIi or RP 504 CII?
I have an svs SB 3000 sub hooked up to klipsch McLaren 5's, Now debating on getting ultra speakers, SVS ultra center channel is apparently really good.
What do you think about the Speedwoofer 10s and 12s subs? Thanks for these videos, you've convinced me to focus on the center and sub.
Getting this delivered tomorrow from Amazon and the brown walnut version is selling for $499. Would these pair up with the Klipsch THX 6000s?
What do you think movies performance?
So this center channel, then a Speedwoofer 10s or 12s then fill in the rest with some cheaper bookshelfs.
Zeos, I need you to start reviewing Tekton speaker products!
Hell no. Do a bit of research into what that company does when you even SLIGHTLY give a negative review. They sue you.
Dang, I was really curious about them. Deep down I knew they sounded too good to be true. Thanks for replying! @@ZReviews
That’s really the thing in my system that I think is lacking at the moment.
the new JBL Studio 665C center channel is 800 dollars so it would be a perfect match up for the klipsch it also has a horn
This speaker dropped to 329$ and i am thinking this is going to be a perfect center channel replacement .
Just got mine from the adorama sale. Worth it for $330.
Lol....
I have a sony a90k 48 inch
and thinking on getting this center channel speaker to pair with 8000f II
Hi sir, I am from India and I have to choose between neumi bs5 and Cambridge audio SX 50, which pair should I buy ? I have watched your reviews on both pairs.
Plz reply soon . Thanks.
Hey z is it possible you can review the R7T towers from perlisten
1:04 3dgamerman reference :D
help... i have a fireplace + mantel and my rc62 ii wont fit... only have a mantel that's 6.75" deep...any idea of a slim line center speaker that could work with some rp600m's? im renting so i wont be doing any mods to the mantel....
I remember when my RC62II broke-in I thought my sub was on and it wasn’t... 💀🍿
So by just starting with SVS sb 3000 sub and let's say this center channel or SVS ultra center channel, what receiver/amp is really good for a 5.1?
I wish i had the money to buy any of the set ups I have in mind. Im just too poor to have cool stuff i guess. I make do with my little PA3s and some old 3 ways. My heart just wants to have some of the good stuff.
Would be cool to see it compared to the JBL Studio 665C
RP 150m has the same 5.25 driver
Any speaker from Power Sound Audio. I know you reviewed the MT110s a long time ago, but PSA makes very very horny speakers. Their center offerings (which are dual 10s or dual 12s now in MTM configuration) are CRAZY good.
How are the klipsch rp404c ii? I dont got space for the 504.
Look up the RP 600c. Much smaller in total size BUT it has 2x 6.5" woofers instead of 4x 5.25" woofers. Its a trade off. Id get that over the 404 personally.
@edithboozy1000 unfortunately its a height restriction I have. So i need a thinner speaker
It is important unless you are the only viewer and seated directly on-axis.
Lol
Did you notice any issues with off-center listening with so many drivers?
In my limited horizontal space it seemed to work 90% or better in all the space I had. I think they tune the outer drivers to do less of the important frequencies. So the Horn is all you really focus on.
Would 2 of these make a good stereo speaker system?
No
1:20 Zeos sticks his whole hand into a hole.
The RP450C is $250 for those on a budget.
Klipssssssccccchhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
Bic Acoustech PL-28II center speaker
Try to get some Philharmonic speakers if you want to see beautiful finish on a speaker
Could I put my TV on top of it?
I am surprised actually that you never suggested using this mono blocked instead of a sound bar, because we all know how much you love sound bar alternatives…
Greatt video!! How would you power it if it wasn’t for a review?
Just straight from the Receiver would be FINE.. But I love power
Trying to find one of your videos for a reference of a good receiver
Better to go with phantom center imho.
If you have only yourself it is an option.
Love your reviews man
Klipsch RC-64 lll
Chane 700 series horn speakers
Deep down I know someone has stuck something else in a bass port.
Someone 3DP this man a new grill that doesn’t cover the drivers!
Psssssst, that's not the "best" center that Klipsch makes. That would be the RC-64 III.
The best Klipsch Center Channel I've reviewed
OMG why are YOU so helpless! just put tape behind the grille fabric & take Dremel tool and carefully trim the plastic that sits in front of the drivers! off the grille we have to use grilles and also build a black chicken wire cover over all the speakers to keep the cats OFF them !
THX1138????
Honestly those setup should be Limitless but the hardware does not exist for the consumer market right now
@@ZReviews yep im only referring to those specifically focused on object based systems, usually 5.x.2/4 or 7.x.2/4
You need to stop wearing the camera. I had to take some Dramamine.
Damn man, know what you're even reviewing
I do but the RP didn't click. usually they aren't making up letters for series. Reference Premiere sounded like add-on words in front of the RP. lol

i have a home theater question!! im i rigth, when i say that a square room. is perfect for a home theater, and that a room with window/weird angel walls and roof. would make the sound worse!! because if there a angels on walls and roof and so on, the sound would have to move weird.
so im i rigth, when i wrote a guy. that there is a reason, that proffesional home theater builder. build square rooms, because a square room gives the best sound?
because why would all big home theater audiofiles, always build square rooms? imo this guy, was a idiot. for replying to me, that a square room would do nothing to the sound being better!!
