I entered the 'Seagate gaming heroes' competition they ran a few months back and won they're 4TB Xbox external hard drive. It's awesome. Seagate are the real heroes.
I really like the 2 USB ports on the front of the drive. I have the black Seagate 8TB drive with the textured side and no USB ports. It works perfectly. With over 500 games installed, I'm sitting at just over 50% usage. Granted, there are a lot of small indie titles included in my library.
Yup I've got an 8 TB hard drive, a 5 TB hard drive, and the 500 GB from the day one Xbox. I have a huge game library (I think I'm still in the top 50 on TA for Xbox 1 games played) and I prefer to keep everything installed. Like you said, sometimes I just feel an urge to go mess around in some old game again. The other day I booted up Trackmania Turbo for the first time in a while and just had fun playing. One time my dad was hanging out and we played RBI Baseball 15 together just for fun. It was a terrible game, but I was so glad I had it installed so we could just find something to play together and have fun with. 13 TB of space is great for people who are super passionate about trying all sorts of games and they want to have access to all of them.
Flawlessly, just plugged it in. You can't play Series X/S games straight from it, but it will hold them on the drive. It only takes a few minutes to do any type of swapping with the internal and external drives. I became a regular Game Pass subscriber and downloaded well over a hundred games straight to the drive. I currently have about 220 games of various sizes downloaded with 45% harddrive space remaining. The harddrive stays powered on so I use the two USB ports to keep my phone and earbuds charged... One of my best investments IMHO. 👍
@@anthonyc1377 You can download Series X/S games and save them to the gaming hub... the older drives are not fast enough to play new gen games from it, and Xbox will notify you as such at the time of the download. For example I will buy a Series X/S game on sale to play at a later time... So I will save it to the gaming hub to play later. When it is time to play that game, I just transfer the game to my internal Series X/S storage or the (ungodly expensive) 1tb SSD card. if I need to ever clear room I just put those games onto my gaming hub to save. It only takes about fifteen minutes to transfer the games as opposed to a couple of hours to download them. I have unlimited internet data so I joined Game Pass and just started downloading like a 150 games onto my gaming hub... apparently it kept going while I slept because I woke up after a couple of days and everything was on my gaming hub. I then transferred the Series X/S games I wanted to play into my system and I was ready to go (I did get a couple of games I wanted to play downloaded first). This should work on all older external hard drives you have laying around (double check), but 8tb is nice to have.
Yeah same here, Xbox just doesn't have that many games worth saving. Some large size games but I use a 2TB and the internal and it's more than enough. Because I play PS4 much more..and use a 3TB for it. Plenty,
I don’t remember if it’s 12 or 16gb but Xbox actually has a built in limit. It won’t allow you to go over that number even if you have a hard drive with that much space across all hard drives.
I have 2 4tb HD and 3 Xbox one s 500gb each and the Xbox one x Jesus you can never have enough storage I download every game from gold and everything I buy and have my Xbox on all day downloading and updating! My pride seeing that shit from a long day at work :)
The main thing why YOU NEED NOW a bigger HDD and even External 8TB ... for Xbone and PS4, are the way game patches now are handled ... back in the Xbox360/PS3 era ,each patch was 20/100mb tops (well, some PS3 patches can be *ehm* 5gigs) ... and when you deleted the game, those patches and Saves stayed on your HDD ... but now in the PS4/Xbone era ... those patches are no longer an addon file , they replace key files ...they intertwine with the base data ... and are now from 13 gigs and up ... making some games even bigger in the end ... When someone asks "What will happen when you delete the game" ... well you delete the game ...and the intertwined ,new patches files ... but those saves will stay ... the problem is , if you will not patch the title, those saves are worthless ... so in the end , this generation of Consoles forced you to have all your games stored on your HDD ... forever ... with BD media as a licence certificate you bought the damn thing , so you can play it ... If someone asks "Why those games dont play from the Disc , like in the old days" ... the answer would be , BD random data access read speeds are slow (in some cases movies are read from the BD to mask , game loading from HDD)... thats why you need to install them on HDD
The only question I have is how do I turn the hard drive off after shutting the xbox console off? I have to unplug it every single time I turn the xbox off and am worried about frying the drive with errant charge.
This review is dead on. These install sizes have gotten quite absurd (Halo:MCC and GOW:IV come to mind). And sometimes, as a gamer, you want to keep a bulk of your library installed and not have to wait hours for the re-installation/updates. I currently have a 4TB external with my X, but i'm looking to upgrade to something like this, an 8TB Hub.
I just brought this, it was delivered about a week late by Curry’s PC World and when it finally came today it didn’t work. I plugged it in and the Xbox didn’t even pop up with a message or recognise the storage device was plugged in. No light showed on the device either
I have got a couple great FH3 car tunes from you, and your achievement vids are awesome too! I added you to Patreon dude, looking forward to your future content!!
I got it today but considering I have very noisy members and my Xbox is slightly noisy too I don’t really mind about noise, but slower multiplayer for me might be good, I can come up with a plan. Tomorrow getting Kingdom Come Deliverance so This will be fun
i have a 5TB seagate external drive and i found it was noisy with the spinning hard disk and the vibrations, but if i set it down horizontally all the sounds became inaudible.
You might have answered this, but did you notice if there was a loading speed difference with a portable drive plugged directly into the Xbox VS plugging it into the hub? If anyone else knows the answer to this, I'd greatly appreciate it.
I'd probably get the 8TB Seagate Backup Plus instead - it's the same specs without the Xbox One branding, and for $20/£30 cheaper Plus, if you check the specs of the drives, the Xbox version spins at 5,400 while the backup drive spins at 5,900, so you get slightly faster access! I currently have a 3TB + 1TB external drives installed on my Xbox One - I keep the 1TB for back compat 360 games and the 3TB for XO games, although I've run out of room on the 3TB, so they've over-flowed onto the 1TB at the moment, mainly because I have 300+ games installed!!!
How long are the cables for it? Do I have to use one external hard drive, in order to use all storage at once, on the Xbox? Or is it case where "Moving" is the only available function on the Xbox, when having multiple external hard drives plugged into the Xbox? Because I don't want to buy this thing, if I don't have to... And, instead, could just buy a smaller external hard drive to plug into my Xbox, alongside the current external hard drive. But, can this be done? Otherwise... I'll probably have to get this thing.
This is only 5,400rpm is it not? The Xbox One X uses a 7,200rpm internal HDD so I wouldn't recommend using this on the new xbox as you're handicapping your load speeds. There are Xbox ready 7,200rpm external HDDs on amazon.
