I have both models at 55" in the UK. The Sony, as with the C3, is surprisingly unforgiving of low bitrate HD broadcasts, which the BBC provides in abundance. I was expecting better AI upscaling from the A80L, but it's not noticeably there. As RTINGS say, don't expect either TV to make 480p look like HD. The C3, given that it's approx 2/3rds the price of A80L is a fantastic TV. It's a little darker than the A80L, so may not be suitable for a room with large amounts of sunlight during the day. The Sony has more HDR options, and maybe a few more options to fiddle about with the image, but I can't help feeling that you're paying a huge amount extra for the Sony name. The real clincher for me on the C3 is the full availability of screen ratio controls on USB movie playback, so you can stretch a widescreen film to full screen even if the film isn't 16:9 enhanced. Not sure from memory if the A80L does this, but as the C3 is my main TV, I don't really care. Sound on both TVs is fantastic, and I certainly don't need a soundbar on either of them. My only bugbear with the C3 is sometimes having to alter image settings between live soccer and snooker because the sceen will either be too light or dark.
You mean sound is trash on both of them and avoid a soundbar. I don't get how people can buy a good TV without a couple of good speakers and maybe a woofer

There are so many reasons to choose Sony TVs over the LGs, I don't know why you guys are always pushing LG and Samsung. I mean sure cost is one thing but with everything from the picture quality to the build quality to processing and the way it handles low bit rate and low resolution video. To the way it handles gaming content, you know that's something that a lot of people fail to mention it seems like. When using a PS5 the Sony resolves the graphics And colors of the console better than LG does, it seems like a lot of people just assume that that image processing will be the same across all brands when playing video games, it's not. Last thing is the LG's have far more potent ABL built into the software, with Sony OLEDs you hardly notice the luminance decreasing and sometimes even then it takes 2 or 3 minutes of having a statically bright image, with the LG and about 30 seconds you'll notice the screen getting dim and excessively dim, that is unless you get a service remote and go in and turn ABL off, which will probably void your warranty.
We need people covering the tint issue on lg evo oleds. Nobody is talking abt them yet many people struggle with the pinkish tint ruining the experience.

I love how this review is so biased to fail to mention the vastly superior A80L image processing. I love LG and I think the C3 is an amazing TV no doubt, but I feel it intentionally avoids to mention how artificial it looks compared to the A80L. Bravia XR processor does make more difference than anything mentioned here.

And this is coming from someone who has the LG C3 right now and Sony. Lg C3 over hyped the sony a80l is better.
They mentioned that on their written review, so why are you acting like they're ignoring that? Besides, the C3 is significantly cheaper, at least in the UK, and performance wise it's not light years behind the Sony like some of you fanboys make it out to be.

No idea why there are so many salty Sony fanboys in this comments section. In the UK, the A80L is £1389, whereas the C3 is £899, it's a no brainer. I can see the A80l is better at processing, but the difference is not substantial enough to justify spending almost £500 more. I'm going with the C3.

@@guyr3618 There is no standard for hdr it will never function properly. Shows and movies aren't made or mastered for hdr and never will be....because it is inaccurate and looks bad
First, they took the A from ratings, and now they took the M in Samsung. It has begun! They are taking over movie reviews!
😂
I wonder how the C3 compares to the C4
👀
Who is using a soundbar for Oled TV's?
You'd be surprised!
Look up the Q990c sound bar system it’s amazing and goes very well with an OLED tv
I don't know if I should get the C3 or G3🤔
G3. Although if you can wait until the fall, the C4 and G4 are big impartments over their predecessors.
@@MetalMike56 yeah... But the prices on those 2024 models are stupid high. Even the G3 is a jump from the C3... I find it difficult to decide on what I really need.
@@KaiSchSp Yeah right now they definitely are. But TVs usually drop 40-50% come Black Friday in November. If you need a TV soon, G3 is the better pick even for the higher price tag.
@@MetalMike56hi end model don’t normally drop big in price but once new models come and around Super Bowl best time to buy tv imo
I had a 83 C3 that was returned due to a malfunction in the wifi, it wasn't very bright. I would get the Samsung OLED over these two.
C3 HDR-Brightness: 815cd@ 8.1
In game Mode 808cd @ 7.4
Guess there's a mistake as in both modes the max. brightness is almost the same...
Is this a review from a year ago just re-uploaded?
While we begin buying and testing 2024 models, we figured we'd film (they are newly filmed) new reviews for 2023 models that may help users who look to take advantage of price drops!
I’m looking to buy an 83” OLED. The LG 83” C3 is currently on sale for $3,300 while the Sony 83” A80L is $4,300. Is the Sony that much better ($1,200 better)? Should I just buy the C3 at that price and save some money or wait for Prime Day or maybe Black Friday for a price drop on the A80L? I only stream movies and watch 4k blu-rays, no gaming at all. Thanks!!!

Buy open box from PC Richards. You can also beat the price further down. I got Sony A80L 77 inch for $1,380
Tbh my lg cx is still working perfect so until then I won’t upgrade but when I do I’m going Somy cause I’m older and care for movies more than gaming now
Also in person the Sony tv impressed me more regardless of these stats
What about black crush and audio?
We can't include every detail of our full reviews in our videos, otherwise they'd be way too long. We do have more information in our full reviews on our website!
@@RTINGSdotcomthat’s unfair if you ask me. Cause even my LG cx crushes blacks

Sound?
Qn900d vs g4 🙏
Can't wait to see your S95D review next spring.
We need people covering the tint issue on lg evo oleds. Nobody is talking abt them yet many people struggle with the pinkish tint ruining the experience.
Sony is superior in color accuracy calibration and picture by just a smudge. But the processor is complete crap and freezes or lags all the time
I thought they had the superior processor?
My LG C1 all day everyday.💪🏻
😆🤪 Common man, I have 2 myself and they are surpassed now!
I love my c1 and I'm not going to spend a grand for a tv that's just a little better.
@@cherylsmith2285 totally agree Ser🫡
El procesador del Sony es mejor que el procesador del LG, eso es más importante que la cantidad de brillo y otras características propuas de la pantalla.
Si se trata de opunar, para mi el Sony es mejor tv
How do you fit a sound bar underneath the C3 with stand stuck out at the front ?
8:56 "SaNsung" S90C OLED? ...Sounds like a bootleg brand! ;)
PS. Thanks fora good review :)
Bought the A80L because it was cheaper than the C3 at Costco. 🤷♂️ price outweighs that 2 percent brighter C3.
What size and how much did you buy it for?
@@faultless18 c3 was selling for 1599 for the 65 inch at Costco. The day I bought my A80L it was on sale at 1499 for the 65 inch, and it has the 5 year Costco warranty instead of the 3 years that the C3 came with.
Aunque la c3 sea mejor me sigue gustando un poco mas la colorimetria que maneja sony y su diseño
The way Sony’s processing delivers. The picture is different
very nice review, well done
I love how this review is so biased to fail to mention the vastly superior A80L image processing. I love LG and I think the C3 is an amazing TV no doubt, but I feel it intentionally avoids to mention how artificial it looks compared to the A80L. Bravia XR processor does make more difference than anything mentioned here.
lol,,so says the fan boy of the always over priced sony TVs
@@mycolortv1 I had an LG OLED B9 for years, have you had both TV brands to compare and actually talk from experience? if so, then you are free to have your preferences, that’s respectable, but there is an objective better image processing in Sony TVs
@@pianistor555And they mentioned that on their proper review on their website.
Instead of behaving like a brain dead Sony shill, why don't you do your homework before you post stupid comments?
Rtings aren't biased, you're just narrow minded af.
Is this a monitor reviewing channel now?
It’s a product review channel!
Just the review comparison I am looking for
What luck!
I’m sorry but the Sony is better when it comes to streaming movies and TV shows which everything you watch is streaming. Sony just has a better processor and I choose processing over lighting. And this is coming from someone who has the LG C3 right now and Sony. Lg C3 over hyped the sony a80l is better.
Is the motion better on the Sony?
@@PatrickA1 they are identical in my opinion. But in some scenes like movies with Sony has a slight edge in motion
They mentioned that on their written review, so why are you acting like they're ignoring that?
Besides, the C3 is significantly cheaper, at least in the UK, and performance wise it's not light years behind the Sony like some of you fanboys make it out to be.

Really helpful review. Also, this is my first time seeing Abby and she does a great job. Also appreciate the representation as most tech reviews on YT are done by guys (no hate to guys but girls know about tech too!).
Thanks great review
Thanks for watching!
You do get BRAVIA CORE with A80L which is a fantastic extra benefit for movie lovers. REAL 4K at 80mbps.
Thats what im saying she skipped that part and how Netflix etc looks way better
Sony A80l also has netflix calibration mode. Rtings never mention it
G4 a95d a95L mz2000 G3 mon top 5
LG OLED ALL THE WAY
C3 is on my desk
Great review, a little bit late though.
Fair point! On our end though, we expect prices on previous models to drop, and not everyone buys the most recent models every year, so we expect it to be useful still!
So outside of the name and Bravia Core the C3 is better overall
C3 is much better !
Excellent comparison review. Thank you.
Thank you for watching! 😄
Google tv vs web os....Sony wins. How long does lg provide updates vs Sony. That matters.

Note to Editor: show more product features than the presenter. I know she is beautiful but we're here to see the product.

How does rtings make money to afford all this? Ad revenue can't be that high with the small viewer numbers...

C4 est top qualité prix
Hi Abbey I had a Sony a80L . I absolutely hated it. It was so dim. I brought it right back $1500. Maybe that’s not a lot for some people on a TV but it is for me I went and purchased Hisense u8h and was much happier. That’s a great TV. It blows Sony out of the water.
What about the user interface and the user experience lol
I understand all the advantages of OLED. But for that budget, the burn-in-risk…..maybe I am too old, but I want performance and peace of mind for that price
Burn in is hype
@@MarkNOTWWhat are your tips to combat it?
@@StardustLegacyFighter don’t leave a static image on the screen for hours at a time. Like a stock ticker or scrolling news feed at the bottom of the picture.

Is this video sponsored by lg why it is more biased towards lg
our videos and reviews are based off our objective testing. We also don't accept any sort of incentives for favorable reviews or comments. So no need to worry about that!
Nice logic there, just because they prefer the LG, it means they must be biased.
Maybe it's because LG makes pretty good TVs in this price range?
Infantile pillock.
@@StardustLegacyFighter I didn't mean like that they make excusing of lg tv if they are not better in some areas than sony tv which looks like biased once again watch full video I hope u will understand
Give me the realistic color from Sony any day. Price doesn't matter.
lol..over priced sony...as always
@@mycolortv1 They're pretty close enough in price now, and from my experience with the X90L it's always possible to make the colors look better if realistic color isn't your thing.
Sony overcharges for the same experience imo except for maybe the computation sector like the motion handing but even then it’s not worth the price hike fr
LG over SONY every day of the week.
You're better off comparing this year's model, the c4 range
We definitely will once the units we purchased get delivered and we can run them through our tests. In the meantime though, we expect prices on previous models to drop, and not everyone buys the most recent models every year, so we expect it to be useful still!
why you so late?
We bought and tested these models when they were first released. However, we understand prices are starting to drop as the new models come out, and not everyone buys the most recently models. So we're hoping these videos still help users while we buy and test the 2024 models!
I will get C3 Rather Than A80L, The Difference Price Both Of Them almost $500 in 55inch 😂.
I liked reds on c3 better too. Issue with both - oled's. As such horrible for fast action movies as everything is a blur.
