- Figured out how to add roads so why not explain it. Hopefully this video helps with learning the engine yourself, just like iam :)
Disclaimer: it might be more a bit more on the advanced side, next video will be going back to the basics.
Thanks for watching.
First attempt at talking to myself in English, pretty odd to me haha but i guess that will grow when i make more video's.
Anyways, feedback is appreciated and if i missed anything or you have any questions i will always try to answer asap.
Thanks for watching
What's your language?
@daveit1337 dutch the netherlands
Dude the Tumbnail looks awesome! Also dont stress to much about your english I could undestand everything you said
Awesome, thank you for these videos! Love the learning process so far
Nice, downloaded RedKit yesterday, didn't have time to play it yet.
yep... too much settings. Nice, but not for all.
Thanks. English good, but If I were you I would start from STEP 0, like "opening the map" step. I mean, any beginner who knows NOTHING, should be able to follow.
I am pretty sure I can find the map somewhere, but I would have liked to have that aswell in the video:)
Thanks for the feedback, yeh im thinking the next video im going back to the basic's, creating your own empty map (opening an existing map) etc. this might be a bit to advanced for newcomers indeed.
@@filliaxdev Yeah You gained a sub;)!
I would even go to "full process" like from step 0 to .. actually releasing the map, to actually adding to the game etc
could be fun,
@@albert-i2d4r Sounds interesting aswell, mainly because im not even there yet ;) iam creating these videos and learning as i go haha so that might be an interesting concept to work on.
@@filliaxdev I actually thought of doing that (if I had time) learning + sharing what I learnt lol.
Anyway, how did you learn what you showed in the video? From some documentation? Or just you already had experience with old redkit stuff?
@@albert-i2d4r having some knowledge from other engine's like unreal engine, bethesda creation kit, unity helps alot. Most are pretty similiar in how an "engine" works. Tho the creation kit(skyrim/oblivion) is pretty old tbh...
REDkit atm is mainly finding out where everything is.. the documentation helps but its pretty bare on the explaining their workflow's etc. I kinda compare it to unreal engine but everything is in another place if you catch my drift.
And also reverse engineering looking at existing maps from the witcher 3, viewing variables like how they setup lighting etc. how they use their buildings mesches and combine them to make it looks good, terrain combinations, foilage etc.. it costs time but for me its always fun to figure stuff out on my own haha.
country road, take me home, to the place i belong
I really wanna learn to model swap for player, npcs and weapons and eventually dialog
Something i have not looked into yet but something i def will in the future ;)
Doing good work. Thank you
amazing, more please
Thanks, looked to redkit, interesting how to create caves and some tips for faster location filling with objects (not easy to find specific house a table)
Thats funny currently working on a cave myself and i get the pain about find location filling object there are certain "objects" in the asset browser that have like filled shelfs or table with clutter
@@filliaxdev It would be great if someone made online asset browser with tags system. I'm not webdev snd thinking that someone will make this faster
this looks like a lot of effort
I think it should be place a road but then you need to import textures if there not set, if there aren't any distance tiles you need draw a stripe but it was difficult to follow on watching it once. I don't think I would use it unless it was more microsoft paint friendly. I actually think it looked difficult. Not user friendly at all.
watched it twice couldn't read it.
Where we're going we dont need....roads!
Hele Nederlandse Witcher 3 modding community hier 😮
please can you do a full tutorial how to set up the redkit and the basics on how to do genral basics how to put things on a map and put it in game thankyou
The official Guide Covers that pretty well
It is in the works and will be coming soon, going to start with some basics.
Hi, maybe you know how to import a terrain height map correctly, because there is an option in the terrain editor but I'm doing something wrong ;)
I will go over this in an later video about creating your own maps which is in the works ;) writing it here is such an hassle
Have you figured out where is the NPCs night/day cycle controlled?
If you mean when they need to move around and go do their thing? or do you mean environment day and night cycle? anyways i think i know a bit about both ;) and it will come up in a future video. NPC spawning is already a bit complicated haha took me a while to get that working.
@@filliaxdev I was thinking about NPCs schedule. Like when they sleep and when they do daily activities. I was making a mod that changes dawn from 3:30 Am vanilla to something like 5:30 AM, and I successfully modified the environment, but NPCs in villages still get up at 3:30-4:00 AM like in vanilla.
I think it should be a community file, like more important NPCs, but I haven't find it
Ill look into it, i think it should be inside an community file indeed since its where you can add jobs and time schedules, but minor npcs(villagers etc) are usually spawned without the need of such a file (atleast thats how i do it) is it on your own level or are you modding the "main game"?
@@filliaxdev Thanks. I'm modding the main game, but I think this would also apply if I wanted to populate a custom village
imagine, a guy who mods a 7 year old game has stuttering and speaking issues.
Not used to speak publicly in not my native tongue is the main issue but thanks for the feedback i know i have to work on that
WHAT
do you have a discord or telegram?
Yes i do have discord, can i ask why you would need it :)
@@filliaxdev maybe we could make a group or something where we could share info about redkit to help each other)
im focusing on level design, now trying to make a simple quest, but theres no a lot of information how to do that
@@NikitaShershakov oh thats fine floxxtm is my username.
