I have had my 2008 estima hybrid for a year now. I have a Kenwood radio with screen and hope to get it in easy enough. Thanks for the tutorial. Now need those plastic things
10:03 You might like to know that you don't have to turn the engine on to move the Gear Selector lever. That's what the SHIFT LOCK button next to it is for. If you hold down that button, you can move the lever while the engine is off.
What English head unit would be ideal for this estima model????? I have been wanting to change my estima Japanese head unit to an English one. Please help
Great video Dean, just brought a toyota estima myself and want to put new head unit in, will you be making another video for the new head unit fitting and what do you recommend as replacement?
The head unit looks identical to the head unit on my 2005 Alphard ... Do you think this method will work on my car? What worries me is losing features. I have Front and Rear parking cameras and a ceiling mounted monitor. Then there's all the steering wheel controls. I've been told it's possible, though I've been unable to find a head unit that does everything. One company on eBay said I will need a load of adapters. Also, the Alphard has surround sound with a sub under the drivers seat. I want to upgrade the speakers to a Focal system I found so it would be nice to find a head unit with a good 6 channel HiFi amplifiers. I own a slightly older Previa Estima too, and that was a very easy upgrade ... Do you think it's possible with the Alphard, and will it be a genuine upgrade?
That's the problem I had, I am no electrical engineer, and also try as I may, could find no info on my Toyota Aeras to work it out. I lost cams and steering controls. I will go back at some point though and see if the info is out there. This head set has most of the wiring rlto connect, but need to know what in Aeras to correctly connect to. Sorry I can't help more, good luck, hope things work out either way for you.
Hi Dean, do you know if there is a way to get an audio wiring diagram for a 2009 Toyota Estima hybrid? as i am trying to fit a uk toyota touch 2 go system and am not getting any sound so was thinking about re-wiring.
Hi I have same car Toyota and my Ceiling monitor stopped working do you know how what’s happening or how can I fix it show light but not show the pictures
No sorry can't help you there, I struggled to fine wiring diagrams to connect cams too. It has been a while though since, and perhaps they are out there now.
Not sure if possible now but when I was looking into all of that it seemed not. It is a shame because its a decent unit. You'd think you could send off to some experts somewhere who'd do that but I couldn't find any at the time, and had to face losing some good functions because of this. Never got the steering wheel functions sorted so may go back to research on this another time soon.....ish.
Hi. Thanks for this video Dean. Jimmy, as far as I know there's no way to convert the head unit to english. I'm currently in the process of installing an Android unit that I got from Aliexpress. It's basically like having an Android Tablet in your car and it's so much lighter but won't play CDs. It came with a wiring harness that connects most things so the radio, video, wifi, bluetooth, phone connection, microphone, etc, all works easily. The trouble I'm having now is that I don't know how to connect the rear video camera into the new head and I roughly know how to connect the steering wheel connections!
@@NoelRode Hello. Did you ever get your new head unit to work with rear camera etc? I have JUST bought an Estima and it only has FM/AM radio and apparently bluetooth etc. No satnav or DAB radio, which I would like. Cheers.

The toolset is available at my local parts store. In New Zealand the store is called Supercheap.
Same set you got.
So, a little trip in the morning.

That square button that says LOCK next to the gearstick, releases the gear stick you can move it out of the way. No need to start the engine.
Does your new units fit the Toyota orginal reverse camera? I try to get one, but modt of seller says it is not supported original
When I had installed it, I never did get the time to find a way to connect the camera up to the new head unit.

How much is the size of the car stereo ?
And we’ll never know if it was ever replaced lol
Have you replaced yours?
Hi there. Is it necessary to replace the whole unit? Isn't there a way to reflash it with English language software?
