This mini-masterpiece gets as close as any music to reaching the ‘English soul’. Impossible to explain, but if you’re not English and this brings a lump to your throat, then you’ll understand. It was used in Ken Russell’s biopic film ‘Elgar’ (1962), to accompany the ‘young Elgar’ riding his pony on Malvern Hills. A more brilliant ‘marriage’ of music and imagery, I have never seen.
That is a wonderful performance of a true masterpiece of English music. Superb!!

You surely don’t have to be English to be thrilled to your soul by this great outpouring of melody, emotion and form-as this Dutch ensemble proves.
But it helps.
Wonderful -- I think you've got the tempos just right. You've caught the full sweep of this impassioned score.
Thank you Frank!
what a beautiful way to open the Friday.
Beautiful, thank you so much
