Pros and Cons of Havelock Wool for Van Insulation

    I’m planning to insulate my skoolie with wool insulation. This is valuable information. I’ll be making live recordings - the .9 sound dampening is one important reason I’m using wool.
    Another plus you didn’t mention. In insulation burn studies, wool is the least likely insulation to maintain a flame, and it doesn’t give off toxic fumes. Fumes from many synthetic materials, including spray foam and polyiso, can be fatal if inhaled.
    One interesting note. You mentioned objectionable smell. This is subjective. In addition to formerly using raw wool to knit, I used to visit farms with my dad, a veterinarian. Farm-related smells bring back warm memories of my dad’s work.

      Those are all great points! Thanks for sharing. The smell is certainly subjective, I agree. It caught us a bit off guard because we didn’t know it would be so strong at first.

      We bought the three big bags for vans and then 2 of the smaller 100sqft boxes. In hindsight, this was probably more than we needed.
