      Yeah no. I’m not wasting the 15 deadric arrows that I’ve found in my 500+ hours of this game of the past 3 years on a drauger that gives me iron boots and 35 gold when it drops.

      There are many kinds of players and none are better than another. Just different. My latest playthrough has been entirely on legendary, but I went heavily into crafting, which puts my weapons and armour on par with most enemies. I'm lvl 97 with full dragon armour and one handed weapons. Also use a bow and some magic for buffs and conjuration/healing. All my gear is upgraded to legendary and dual enchanted, using armor and potions to make smithing and enchanting more powerful. If I played on a lower difficulty I would just one or two hit everything but the leveled enemies and even many of those cap at like 50 or 65...when I don't feel like crafting I generally play on expert. Otherwise it's just plain annoying and really breaks immersion. If I played PC I would just use mods...really want a nice PC lol. My laptop just doesn't cut it

      My thoughts exactly. Thruth is that skyrim combat can't be perfect without mods. Either you are immortal or your enemies are. I'd prefer if both you and the enemy were relatively easy to kill so that the superior tactician wins

    I had to download a mod which fixed the crappy damage multiplier. Master difficulty merely makes enemies do 3x more damage to you, while you only do about 1/4 of your regular damage output, which makes for tedious battles with enemies who seem to take way too many hits to kill.
    At least let me retain my base damage output, so that I can kill enemies if I'm being tactical, not because I played "find the exploit" with the most basic enemy for 20 minutes..

      I always mod the game to make it so both my enemies and I die easily to everything. That way you and your enemies aren't damage sponges, traps actually become treacherous, and you have to take care with how you approach your enemies.
      (You also don't waste as much time when you inevitably get killed by an out of view enemy or trap.)

    Master also punishes you pretty hard for “speed leveling”, especially in noncombat skills, or skills that you don’t utilize.
    That drauger deathlord isn’t going to care about your full skill tree in speech. He also isn’t going to care about your level 100 restoration unless you actually utilize expert and master restoration spells like turn undead stuff and circle of protection.

      I used to do that too but I wanted to be the very best, like no one ever was... so i started playing on medium because I still kinda suck :) I might move to the higher difficulties if I git gud at video games but I doubt I'll get much better than this sooo medium it is. I mean once after attempting the first mission in MW3 on the highest difficulty over and over I eventually was able to breeze through without dying because I knew all the scripted events and hid behind cover like a little wuss most of the time occasionally peeking to kill any enemies that moved up and throw back grenades but after that it was right back to sucking so i reverted to medium, that was that one time though.

    I do role-playing on legendary - choose a backstory, and a class, like a Thalmor mage, and try to act accordingly. No bow and arrow, no stealth, no shouts, just mage skills. Just to get some challenge.
    In the beginning I would mostly be a healer for Lydia, but increasingly the follower would be a less useful punching bag allowing me to charge my increasingly powerful spells at a distance.
    I created my own (much needed) potions, which is also an extremely fast way to make money, btw.
    Also, the illusion magic became very useful pretty quick, because battles last forever on legendary, so you want to avoid what you can.

  • @ericlin7775

    The thing about Skyrim difficulty is basically the damage multipliers, at adept player and enemy deal 1x dmg to each other, and at legendary(1 tier above master) player dmg is only 0.25 effective while the damage to player is multiplied by 3. So I guess the changes can be considered quite lazy.

    I agree 100%, Master is the best difficulty. Legendary is fine, but sometimes when you have to stab a shirtless bandit 30 times in the chest before he goes down, it gets a little tedious, not to mention unrealistic. Another fun way to play is to go on Expert but just keep your army deliberately bad. You still have to think and plan engagements, but both you and your enemies take a good chunk of damage. Much like I assume real melee combat would be, taking an axe to the chest is seriously harmful.

    playing skyrim on legendary is extremely recommended for those who have already mastered the game in terms of "where can i find said spell or follower"; "how does certain enemies act", "wich skills are good to have early one and how am i supposed to level them up". and its a good thing btw, because you can put all that experience you gained when joining a new game for any reasons.
    otherwise, just play it casually - there is nothing worse than trying to learn something new when the difficulty cap is at its highests (remminds me when my friend tagged with me and started playing dota's bot on the most hellish mode; couldnt farm or set foot to the lanes; hell how was i supposed to learn anything if you are kept dead for good?).

    I started playing on master with summoning spells, summoned my fire familiar who drew all the aggro on him and then just spammed enemies with attacks. Worked good for me

    You see if the stealth would work properly and they wouldn’t turn around and see you right after 5 minutes of sneaking I’d be okay but when I’m sneaking on a troll and he turns around and beats my ass in one hit i quit

    I wouldn't say those draugr fell easily. You were mostly dead after the first three. One or two more without healing and you'd be dead.

    So you are telling me that raising the difficulty makes the game actually more difficult?
    Huh, who would have thought that?

    I used to play it on master difficulty but the problem will come with the saber tigers,bears attack.No matter how hard you try they deal a lot of damage...how will someone use their brain on that situation.

    I didn't like the amount of hp enemies had on master difficulty so I downloaded some combat mods to increase npc and player damage percentage output and to add smarter enemies. Now, my Skyrim is more like on difficulty "God-like". ....but I also have tons of other mods that make Skyrim deadlier....like sands of time, frost fall, deadly dragons, realistic npc detection, enhanced lights and fx set on super dark nights and dungeons. The enemies I fight feel like actual players, you can almost feel their hits, a sword now feels like you're slicing through flesh dealing realistic damage while the same can occur to yourself. I have kuertees battle fatigue and injuries, and realistic needs and diseases just to add more to the immersion. When you start off as a lvl 1 noob, a wolf pack can literally tear you apart in seconds, dragons stay almost impossible at any lvl. I was fighting my first dragon at lvl 20 and I died 50 times with 4 other followers helping out. It was a simple green skinned ice breathing dragon. Mods make Skyrim WAAAAAYYY better.

    I think the message of this is "Have combat variation" more than "Play on master difficulty".
    I played oblivion on the hardest difficulty, as well as Fo3 and FNV, but truth be told Skyrim dungeons are so fucking repetitive and utterly uninteresting playing on master difficulty would just force you to spend a ridiculous amount of time in a map devoid of character fighting bland enemies.

    I know this is super old, but I just thought I'd comment on how I dislike the difficulty settings of Skyrim, TES, and Fallout 3/4 because it just changes damage multipliers. The AI doesn't change at all and because of that the difficulty makes everything cheap. I spent an entire playthrough on Legendary dIfficulty and it was marked by me kiting 99% of enemies until I got strong enough to take a few hits, at which point, I just one-shot most of them.

    Adept makes the most sense to me. 1:1 damage and since enemies perk up on level combat stays engaging enough with you gradually gaining the advantage as your character becomes stronger, but at higher difficulty having to sink unnecessary time to chip away at low tier enemies and run away like a bitch to heal everytime(truly the legendary dragonborn there) you're hit is extra as fuck, and thats all difficulty in bethesda games boil down to. Lets not pretend like its something that takes any skill, just time investment. I think difficulty should be based in enemy tier and numbers rather than a damage modifier, bc that would be exciting

    • @DedmanDoesStuff
      @DedmanDoesStuff 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Like imagine that part in dustmans cairn where you fight off well over a dozen draugr if they were all deathlords. Hell yeah.

  • @bathoryaria4127
    @bathoryaria4127 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    It'd be cool if they rewarded you a bit more for playing on Master difficulty, but I think Adept provides a good, hearty challenge. You may be able to mow your way through Draugr, but there's still always going to be enemies that just straight up hands your ass to you, despite being on what us basically Normal mode. Master or Legendary would probably be cool if there were New Game+ or something, but otherwise I don't see any reason, but that's just me.

  • @xula10
    @xula10 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yes master is the way to go, this difficulty makes you feel like leveling up, improving weapons and armor and using potions is actually effective. Legendary is just boring and normal by level 30 you're overpowered.

  • @P4P1Chuy
    @P4P1Chuy 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    But as you level up, your foes get stronger too. Even if you play on a lower difficulty. Once you get to around level 20, enemies become a fun challenge. If you start off right away at master difficulty you get fucked up by dragons and just random attacks in the wild, no matter how big your brain is.

    I've been replaying all skyrim again on legendary, but i still think it's easy. I made a mage, i avoid to train in Town to ez level, i got a follower on low level and was healling him, so that he fight for me, i got a summon too, with a lot beat and run strategy, and jumping on high places that npcs can't get you is pretty ok. Takes long time, but my priest mage manage well, while doing the mage guild quest when appear like 10 magic anommally to kill take like forever, my follower died a lot and the dumbs npcs revive him in the battle without i notice his death. Made me load back 5 times(tooking 3 hours) it's so hard deal with multiple enemys. Anything one shoot me as a mage with 0 armor on low level, was hell, but fun. Now i lvl 50 is so easy and i no longer need the follower to help. But i play Moba as a support, all kind of beat and run strategy and dodging skills made me pretty good at playing legendary dificult haha. There so many broken easy ways to play safe, i avoid make a sneak thief, cuz you know, you just get that draedric dagger that has a chance to insta kill, and just swing fast as fuck and eventually you can kill anything.

    The better way is to mod the game so you and the enemies die easily
    Because in master difficulty a single human takes like 20 hits on the head and doesn't die, it kills the immersion
