    Hi! I am almost finished making the toy but had some difficulty along the way. By the time I finished the body my center had drifted so far to the right that I had to fasten off and reattach the beige yarn in the middle so that the head isn’t crooked. How do you keep your seam/center straight? In the video it looks so straight I must be missing something. Thanks for the cute pattern either way!

    • @LittleCrochetFarm
      @LittleCrochetFarm  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey J! Thank you for the comment! There are a couple of reasons why this can happen. It could be as simple as our yarn tension being different, or maybe if you are working with the yarn under sc instead yarn over, or if you join the ending of the rows with a sl (there are a couple of people who does that), or a problem with the stitch counting somewhere in the previous rounds. All of this can change the stitch position of the beginning of the round, and because of that, the head will be turned.
      But, you figure it out how to resolve the problem and that is wonderful!
      I try to develop my patterns with the minimum sewing effort. And this sometimes can came with other problems, like this one you are having. For future videos, I will explain how many stitches should have in the sides of the rectangle face. This can help the viewer to adjust the pattern easily instead of fastening off and starting again, as you did!
      I think I grew as a "video crocheter" with your comment! hahah Thank you! And have a great end of the year!

    Round 19 was front loop right? Do you continue front loop for 20 etc? I did and am now thinking you're going through both loops. Should I pull out and begin again?

    • @LittleCrochetFarm
      @LittleCrochetFarm  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Jen, only round 19 is using the front loop. The rest, you are back to work normally with the stitches. On every round that you need to work on a different loop, either I will say or in the written instructions will be named FL (front loop) or BL (back loop) in front of the stitches. If is not written there, you should work normally! ❤️

    Adorable! Can you give more guidance on yarn selection like brands. New to amigurumi. Thank you.

    • @LittleCrochetFarm
      @LittleCrochetFarm  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I can! For this specific Santa I used the "basic cotton" from Mondial brand, which is a 100% cotton yarn. But, you can use any 100% cotton yarn, usually sizes fingering or 3ply.
      You can go even thicker with the yarn! But, in my opinion, I like to work with acrylic yarn when its a complete amigurumi beginner because its softer to work.
      Some people think the cotton is better because the stitches are more neat. But you can try it for your self and see what its more comfortable for you!
      Also, try to work with a yarn thicker than the needle. For example, if you are working with a DK acrylic yarn, you can use a 2mm crochet hook instead of the 3mm or 4mm which is recommended for that yarn. This will make your stitches tighter. I hope I was clear and didn't bomb you with many infos!!!
      For this amigurumi, I used the 1.75mm crochet hook because I lost my 2mm. I would totally work with the same yarn but with a 2mm hook.

    Is there a relatively easy way to size this up? I love it but am looking for something a bit larger. I'd like to place this on a mantel type area above my door. Thanks!

    • @LittleCrochetFarm
      @LittleCrochetFarm  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes a super easy way to size up! But I am not sure how big you want. For example, if you use needle 5 and adapt the thickness yarn for that big needle, you will get a Santa almost 3 times bigger than this one!
      But I recommend adding one or two more rounds in the legs if you use a much larger needle. Just so the outcome looks a bit better for the size!

    I got really confused with the white beard. I’ll be trying for the third time tomorrow. I have had several problems with counts. Sometimes the words don’t match the writing...idk. I’ll try again though because I want to make these for gifts. This type of crocheting has always been so easy for me. The Amigromi, or however you spell it lol

    • @LittleCrochetFarm
      @LittleCrochetFarm  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Celeste! The beard is super easy! I will try to write here maybe is clear for you. You will work on the surface of the finished toy (amigromi! lol)
      You attach the yarn, make 3 chains and join with a Slip stitch. You will repeat this process (of making 3 chains and joining with a sl) all over his face. If you want the beard longer, you just make more chains!
      You join with a slip stitch anywhere is comfortable for you. I really hope you get it how to make! Its a great technique to create beard and hair!
      There is the written pattern here littlecrochetfarm.com/mini-santa-claus-amigurumi-free-pattern/

    I don't understand with round 3 in the beginning how you can do BPSC and then still end up with the same amount of stitches (12) for round 4 & 5, I've tried it 3/4 times now and go from 12 stitches in R2, to around 8 stitches after R3
    Help!!

    • @LittleCrochetFarm
      @LittleCrochetFarm  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Jaime, that is because you are not decreasing. You are only changing the stitch, instead of working with single crochet, you are working with back post single crochet. So, if you previously have 12 stitches, you should remain with 12 stitches.
      What I imagine that is happening with you is that you are skipping a couple of stitches, and that is why you have left with only 8.
      Here is the tutorial for the BPSC ( th-cam.com/video/9xbtXBOx9kI/w-d-xo.html ) if you pay close attention to where you should introduce your needle, you won't miss a stitch!
      If still hard for you to work with the BPSC, change to back loop single crochet. Maybe that will be easier for you to see the stitches. The result will be a bit different, but you will have your Santa done!

    • @LittleCrochetFarm
      @LittleCrochetFarm  ปีที่แล้ว

      That is probably because your starting stitch of the round is in a different position then mine (there are a couple of reasons that might have happened).
      The easiest way to fix it is, stop the video just right before the round with the back loop slip stitch. See where my stitch is positioned and bring your stitch to that same position. This will change where you start the round. Then, change the color and continue working! ❤️

    • @LittleCrochetFarm
      @LittleCrochetFarm  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey! If the stitch count is correct, then may be that the yarn brand you are using from the body and head are different, or the the stitch tension also can affect, for example, if you start the body in one day and finished the head jn other day. Perhaps also, if you didn't finish the head, it'd giving the impression to be much bigger, but once you conclude the toy, it will be fine. There are many reasons for why the head of your toy turns to be bigger!

    Morning.What is the purpose of doing back loop slip stich?

    • @LittleCrochetFarm
      @LittleCrochetFarm  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Morning! That depends on where the back loop slip stitch is being used.
      For example, the usage of blsl in the belt of Santa Claus is to make straight edges, heaving a neat belt in the center of the shirt.
      The usage of the blsl in the division of the body and head is to make the edge sharp, that round of the blsl will be facing inside of the toy creating a tension, the next round, you work in the remaining front loop of the previous round, ignoring the round of the blsl.
      I hope that is clear!

    I have done this twice already, and when I come to the portion for the head it is off center.. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong 😥

    • @LittleCrochetFarm
      @LittleCrochetFarm  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Maybe you haven't done anything wrong, this can be because of the tension of the stitch, the material you are using, or the count...there are many reasons don't worry.
      An easy way to fix this is, once you reach round 18, stop the video and see where your starting stitch is and compare it to mine. Then, bring your starting stitch to the same position as mine.
      Or, you can fix yourself depending on where your starting stitch is:
      The head is in a shape of a square. You need to make sure will have in the central and front part of the head 5sts in round 19, 7sts in round 20, and 9sts in round 21. And adapt the corners so your count stitch is correct.
      For example, the pattern for round 19 is: (3sc, 2 inc, 2sc, 2 inc, 5sc, 2inc, 2sc, 2inc, 2sc) Total 26sts
      If your starting stitch is positioned 2sts after mine, you will need to adapt the pattern by (1sc, 2inc, 2sc, 2inc, 5sc, 2inc, 2ssc, 2inc, 4sc) which means you brought the pattern two stitches ahead.
      If your starting stitch is positioned 2sts before mine, you will need to adapt the pattern by (5sc, 2inc, 2sc, 2inc, 5sc, 2inc, 2sc, 2inc) which means you brought the pattern two stitches behind.
      I hope that helps!

      Yes! In the description of the video you have links to the free version of the written pattern on the website and a printable version on Etsy/Ravelry!

      Yes, I think you already got it! There is a clarification written right under round 19 (in the written pattern) and I mention explaining it in the video. When I wrote "2inc" means you will work 3sc in the same stitch! I hope you understand and can finish your Santa Claus! 🥰🥰

      Hey Marie, same thing from the previous comment! Make sure you have 18 stitches from the previous round, and for the round 19 follow the pattern
      19 rnd FL(3sc, 2 inc, 2sc, 2 inc, 5sc, 2inc, 2sc, 2inc, 2sc) Total 26sts
      remember that 2 increases means 3sc in the same stitch. The count is right!

    hi please can you help me as i’m making the santa & on round 19 doesn’t add up at all. i’ve done the same amount off stitches as shown in the video but it only comes upto 22 stitches & not 26 stitches like it says in the video. i’ve undone the stitches & redone the stitches & it still comes upto 22 not 26

      Seen ur message, didn't know if you got an answer or figured it out, but where it says 2inc you actually put 3sc in same stitch, then it comes out to 26 stitches. Hope this helps.

      Did you even listen to her explain round 19? Because if you did then you’d know that the “2inc” step has 3 stitches total. So if we replace “2inc” with 3sc, it would be 3sc+(3sc)+2sc+(3sc)+5sc+(3sc)+2sc+(3sc)+2sc = 26 stitches total.
      She also puts in her written instructions that 2inc = 3sc
