This is a very good costume-version of the “Secret Identity / I was forced to marry a dead man on behalf of my sister”-story with the twist of FL being transmigrated. Sadly I think that the transmigration-arc wasn’t utilized enough to be a good twist. But, I loved this capable/smart/righteous FL and strong/powerful/loyal ML. Despite the sometimes utterly useless subs, this is actually worth watching. SYNOPSIS - SPOILER ALERT!!! FL is a modern day woman who has transmigrated into ancient times and she is now in the body of an unfavored, illegitimate daughter of the Jiang family. Since she possesses some medical skills, she one day happens to save a powerful General (ML) who, upon returning victoriously from war, is attempted to be assassinated. He is reported dead by mistake but he and the Emperor decide to keep up the charade in order to catch the villains. So the Emperor decrees for the marriage between ML and the Jiang family to proceed - despite the bride marrying a supposedly dead man. When the Jiang family receive the decree, they refuse to let their precious, legitimate daughter marry a dead man, so they try to force FL to take her sister’s place in the now unwanted marriage. Feeling a bit responsible for apparently not being able to save ML and because she doesn’t want the marriage her father and step-mother originally intended for her, FL agrees in the hopes of creating a better future for her and her mother. On their wedding day, ML recognizes FL as his savior and realizes that the bride is swapped so he masks himself to investigate the circumstances. Soon the two of them are entangled as ML continues to disguise himself while getting to know this new bride of his, starting with observing her ability to defend him, his family and eventually herself when the lecherous Jade Prince tries to snatch the widowed bride at the wedding ceremony. Impressed by her actions and to protect her, his mother assigns ML as her personal guard. Well, not spoiling too much, this has a happy ending.
