Watching him putting fingers in fretboard feels like he is just a beginner guitar player. The recordings are awesome.

What a lovely episode! Longing is such a thought provoking song and an absolute favourite! I remember listening to Longing for the first time and thinking, this song is probably a distant cousin of Torrent, maybe because both songs have that very soothing open A string feel to it. And I continue to have Torrent and Longing in the same playlist together even today!

Well spotted! I never thought of Longing as a distant relative of Torrent but you're right about the chords in open A, they all sound great and it's hard to not write tunes in this key!

you are absolutely amazing sir.. big fan. This transition from megh to yaman was so beautiful. Worth experimenting.

Glad to know, yes Megh is almost like a mode of Yaman. If you just play the notes Ga Ma Dha Ni Re and think of Ga as the new Sa, you get Megh. Each time your ears have to adjust to the shifting Sa but once you get the hang of it, it's a pleasant sound!

@@dnikhilrao ohhh!! its basically moorchana.. i could imagine if these two raags are been played together at the same time with this technique it could create amazing harmony.. thanks for the info sir, i was about to ask you the technique, but was hesitating to ask😅
      thankyou so much again

Pentatonic modes are brilliant. If you start with minor Pentatonic and move down a note, you'll get these modes - Bhimpalasi, Bhoopali, Des Like, Malkauns, and there should be another but never used it. Obviously ragas have more to it. ✌🏽️

@@cacophonyguitar yeaah exactly.. you are absolutely right. i have tried this.. i selected bhoopali the main raag and shifted its Sa, got beautiful colors. Music never fails to amaze us, na?
P.S. - Thanks for this informative conversation man.

Beautiful! From Hindustani to Carnatic to Reggae to Blues and back again, not many bands can pull off such transitions seamlessly. For me, the arpeggio (conceived in the time signature of 7) and the "na re na re na re" parts are the highlights. :-D
