    Nice to see people still caring about nitro engines and doing the correct maintenance to them so they can run consistently and have a long life, I should be getting my new engine this week and will be updating my videos. Bones brew and Dynamite Big Red 28 😎

    I agree with you as far as after run oil. Something else I like to do is when I store my engines I keep them in Ziploc bags inside their original boxes, and inside the bag I throw a couple desiccant packets. You can buy them in bulk pretty cheap, and they are an extra layer of moisture protection.

    I tell ya, 24yrs in the hobby and still learn something new. New stuff I learned today, 1 N 1 (never knew stuff like that existed), the break in stand (I think it's an awesome price of equipment to have). It's also good to see old school commen sense advice being given. After run oil is very important. I have used 3 N 1 almost since the beginning. From my .12 OS MAX engines to my .21, and even the crappy Traxxas engine to the HPI 4.6 on the Savage have all lasted me minimum 3 yrs with the Traxxas and max 5yrs with the OS engines using 3 N 1. The HPI 4.6 I couldn't tell you. After 4 yrs I ran the Savage under a car broke the cooling head and cracked the block. Neways my gas/nitro brother, amazing video as always. Maybe one day I will get back into nitro. Keep up the awesome work!

    I was wondering how much of the 1 n 1 you would add to Byron 30% 11% ? I couldn't find the 1 n 1 but I got the Byron Lube Booster (similar to 1n1). I am going to be breaking in my 8ight-t RTR as soon as the stuff gets here, last night I also bought the Pro Tek Engine Heater, and the Spektrum S6290 and S6280 servos (I know they will be the first thing to go). I got about $1,400 into it all together now, but like I got some stuff that could have waited, next month I am getting the TLR ShockS and all the CVD's. Then I am saving up for the LRP motor you have from Nitro Shops

    • @BOTAJELL
      @BOTAJELL  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      New2Kendo WoW 😳 Bro that thing is going to be Bad Ass!! You sound serious like if your in a mission to spank on some 6S Ewords like I love to do! Damn who pissed you off?? You know your going to scare the children out from the park when you go out right??? Lmao 😂! You should of started with the Race Kit TLR 4.0 8T from the beginning. But that will do and your on the right track ! If you want to keep things simple and not waste any good Byrons 30/11 fuel on a motor for breaking in a motor just use some old fuel or buy some Traxxas 20/16 shit fuel for just the break in or Torqo fuel or any bullshit RTR Fuel. But if you run Torqo or Odonalds ? You must add extra Castor oil. I add a 1/4 of the bottle of the Nova extra Castor oil to a gallon and then shake it up real good! Becarefull not to overheat your motor with the head warmer ! If you have a heat gun? It will be faster to warm up the you must pay attention to the temps because every motor is different! You may need the head wrap or you may need a fan to keep motor cool?? You never know how it's going to be until you start the process and don't forget to set Piston to BDC and complete cool downs in the first few tanks then after that you can just run some fuel threw her until it's consistent! I will be breaking in my Dynamite.28 soon as well but on the car this time!

    • @New2Kendo
      @New2Kendo 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      BOTAJELL When I do something I usually go overboard, I have always been that way, with my hobbies and the AR15's I build. Thanks for the help,I will grab some Top Fuel today, all I really have left to buy from the kit is the Shocks and Chassis, I will get the Shocks first, the chassis can wait till I get that LRP motor, but for now that Dynamite will be plenty, and it will be a good place to start learning how to properly break in and tune a engine.
      I have been going over all your vids and any info I think I might need to reference, I have a notebook with the break in procedure written down, my temp gun, and tuning driver, everything else will be here tomorrow. I am gonna do it the right way this time, so when I am ready to upgrade to a built engine I know what to do.
      Thanks again Bro

      Roypert Arsey no don't have to be cold! You can put 3 in 1 anytime you want but I prefer when it's warm or hot because that's when the metal is expanded and it makes it easier for oils to penetrate

    Hello BotaJell can you tell me are you mixing the nitro with the 1N1 Castor at 24:1 or 28:1, want to start my break in tonight. I’ve got byron’s 30% 8% Lub, I have 2 quarts for my break in, ive already used 3in1 with 5 preheats and hand spinning after its cool.

    • @BOTAJELL
      @BOTAJELL  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      CLEVELAND COLEMAN bro don’t mix anything Nitro 24:1 !!!!!! That’s only for gas ⛽️ engines !!!!! Just get yourself 1 quart of Byron’s 20% with 16% oil and then after that go to Byron’s 30% nitro with 11% Oil for the rest of the engines life simple no guess work!!!

    • @qroadrunner1996
      @qroadrunner1996 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks I only could get 30%8% will that work also

    • @BOTAJELL
      @BOTAJELL  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      CLEVELAND COLEMAN do not get 30/8 !! Get 30/11! Call up Byron’s and tell them! The 30/8 does not have castor oil in it ! It’s all synthetic you want a 50/50 mix of castor and synthetic! You want castor for wide open throttle. Send it back!!! If you can’t send it back ? You must add 1in1 castor oil to it !!!!! Just send it back and get 30/11 Byron’s fuel

      BOTAJELL this is the motor RB Products Fire 11 .21 7-Port Competition Buggy Engine (Turbo Plug) what should my needle settings be set at?

    • @BOTAJELL
      @BOTAJELL  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      CLEVELAND COLEMAN that’s a great 👍🏼 engine bro!! I need to see and listen to your engine to set your carb! I usually start out at flush and flush meaning flush on low speed needle and flush with high speed needle then I’ll go from there! I also have a RB Nitro Engine there great . I still like the .21 Bonito and Mito 7 and Elite 8 better !!

    Hey man I am thinking about getting this motor for my first 1/8 buggy. (Not my first nitro) I want to get it because it is so much cheaper than all of the others. What do you think? Any help is appreciated

    • @BOTAJELL
      @BOTAJELL  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I like the MITO 7 and Novarossis 5 port better but like you say the price on the Paloma is great especially when it's on sale at NOVAROSSI DIRECT!! You just can't go wrong and after you run a gallon threw it after your break in you can remove a head shim and install a bigger vinturie and it will be a bad ass little motor!!

  • @65BAJA
    @65BAJA 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    After I watched this video I went and ordered a Hudy bench from Stormer. Ordered the bench just so I could break in my sweet new O.S. .21TM motor for my Revo. Got it all in from the brown Santa today. I was outta my mind. Went to put it together so I could get started and ran into two problems. The motor mount on the Hudy bench doesn't fit pull start back plates. Also the spinner nut for the prop mount is .9 pitch thread and the O.S. motor for the Revo is 1.0 pitch thread. As far as I can tell Hudy doesn't make a 1.0 pitch thread spinner. So I guess I'll break the motor in on the car. Oh well at least I have a sweet completely unused brand spankin new Hudy break in bench. lol. Time for a beer and more Botajell videos.

    • @BOTAJELL
      @BOTAJELL  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lol 😂 💥🤜🤛!! You can use a taller engine mount from one of your other cars or trucks or shim the huddy mounts with washers then just use longer screws .

    • @65BAJA
      @65BAJA 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BOTAJELL Yea, I figured the mount would be an easy one. The spinner nut though. Dunno How to get around that one.

    • @BOTAJELL
      @BOTAJELL  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      65BAJA mine came with 2 of them so I have 2 choices . If yours only came with one ? Just go to a hobby store that sells RC airplanes and they should have the spinners and even the rubber parts to use on stater cups that go on your drill .

    • @BOTAJELL
      @BOTAJELL  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      jamielukas100 No Not at all there is No Need to do that to the Byron’s 30/11!!!! Please don’t do that to the 30/11 fuel because it already has castor in it and synthetic!! They use a 50:50 mix of them together. With 11 % of it in the 30% Nitro!!! That’s why it’s there 30/11%

    Castor oil leaves a brown tarnish film on your piston and sleeve which actually protects your internal components up to a certian point.

    Hello good sir!! You’ve talked me into nitro just with your videos I’ve watched them till my eyes have hurt and actually want more....you’ve inspired me to get back into nitro I used to have a nitro car 15 years ago. I bought the rtr losi 8ight-t for a welcome back. Do you offer a break in service at all? I would pay you to provide the service of course...let me know and I’ll send you my engine for break in I like the procedure you use. Hit me up and let me know thanks for your time and the hours and hours of videos you’ve provided. Take it easy I’m excited to get back into this game.

    hell yeah nitro/gas brother good shit. If they can't use after run oil to take care of there engines maybe they need to be with them e-word guys cuz a true nitro/gas head knows to use 3 in 1 marvel mystery oil or even wd40 if you have too. I just talk to Josh about getting a good engine for my rustler( I know it's traxxas ) but it has sentimental value to it and I need a good engine for it and a better transmission too. great video brother

      RC native i dont know if it compatible but the magnum 281 tranny from the nitro slash 2wd has metal gears that can take a beating. I pretty much broke everything besides the tranny on that truck and I run large rear wheels to prevent wheel spin

    • @rcnative4988

      Josh suggested a paloma .21 for my rustler I just need a good trans to go with it. And I think I'm going 2 speed trans on my dbxl with the 29cc engine( from my mtxl) w/ big bore kit and the 990 carb with bigger fuel hoses and I got that big walbro fuel filter in the dbxl already and the OBR 34cc fully mod reeds case engine is going in my mtxl. but I'm gonna have a little fun first before I do the engine swap and upgrades. I'll start my projects in a couple weeks maybe after that I'll start a 5T project. lol John you got me addicted to 5th scales/nitros brother thanks I love this shit.

    • @BOTAJELL
      @BOTAJELL  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Don't put a Paloma on a Rustler lol! Get a 8th scale Buggy or a Road car for a Paloma! You can get the Novarossi motor made for the Revo/T-Max! Or do what I did to my Rustler drop a RB MODDS 3.7 ??? lol!

    • @BOTAJELL
      @BOTAJELL  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Aaron Chico try loosening up your plug so it can turn over better!! Also don’t over 3 in 1 it or over flood your nitro engine because it will flood up and be impossible to turn over or even damage the connecting rod. If that happens you must turn the engine completely upside down and spin it so it unfloods itself and don’t forget to preheat engine to 200 degrees!! If you can’t break it in email me botajell@gmail.com
