I think the scenes with piper are “ flashbacks “ which explains why in some clips he’s in the same apartment alone bc she’s not there anymore .. i think the alley scene is portraying how alone he feels … the studio is him obviously recording the song , the dark hallway and hollywood scene can just be him going through life reminiscing about the break up and the flashback of piper crying is basically the break up he was reminiscing about in the hallway which is why it cuts to the scenes with her … him performing can be him telling the world how much he loves her and is trying to win her back but she doesn’t want him back which is why he’s still alone at the end .
