I, too, loved the kids leaving school and riding home together. One could see they were laughing, enjoying themselves, SOCIALIZING. Just beautiful. ❤

Yeah, so much more beneficial to the development of the child than carting them around in the back of the car in isolation. This can happen in every city around the world. They just need to take an Active Towns approach and work on transforming the environment into people-oriented places. Thanks so much for watching and for contributing to the discussion. I really appreciate it. Cheers! John

The WAAL detail about the railling of the Bridge was new to me! Great stuff, as you tend to say. My brother lives right under the second (old) Waal Bridge, close to the VELORAMA, on a house boat. Nijmegen is a fascinating city - it has Roman roots (Noviomagus). Indeed Memorial Day (May 4) today. I am going to Vught for the memorial service along a road you documented together with Mark W on this 2022 Netherlands Tour.

Love the museum. To emphasis the points made by both Jos and Jordan, the cueing at schools and the "kiss and go" zones not being all that pleasant. I had the opportunity to volunteer with a BIKE BUS in NW Denver and as I watched the parents in the car cues, it was clearly not a happy zones for the drivers. They were on the verge of road rage. Quite a contrast to those able to roll and walk in the BKIE BUS who were happy and joyful.

There's a slogan in there... "Avoid the rage, feel the joy, roll up to school by bike" 😀

I still can't get over the point that having easy transit, bike and pedestrian access to a train station isn't the most obvious thing in the universe… Here in Germany it's a rather new idea, that parking spaces at a train station are any useful, called "Park and Ride".

Yeah, and the Dutch have taken it to a world-leading dimension of efficiency, with, in many cases, seamless access from the bike parking garages directly to the rail platforms and convenient end-of-journey, last-mile solutions such as the OV-Fiets bikes that one can use for the day and return to the station for the return trip.
Really quite brilliant. Smoothing out and eliminating friction points certainly helps people adopt the use of active mobility and transit.
      Cheers! 😀

Dear John, could you alter your streaming time for this episode, in respect of your Dutch followers. May 4th is (War) Remembrance Day in the Netherlands and at 8pm (=1pm Texas time) there is a nationwide 2-minutes silence. Even Jos Sluijsman will not tune in, if he's half decent. A day later, May 5th, the Dutch celebrate Liberation Day, a national holiday.
    I'm counting on your understanding.

Sure thing I moved it up to today, at 2 pm EST / 8pm CET. Unfortunately, I already have another video Premiering on Friday, May 5th at that time. Thank you for the heads up. Much appreciated. Cheers! John
