    Somebody screamed somewhere."

That’s Rick Derringer on guitar with that “Ah...CHOO!” phrasing as the funk groove sets in....like a crocodile sneeze...just another nuance that only Fagen and Becker would think of....

I have always loved this very funky groove. The timbales and other percussion round out the organ, synthesizer, and horns. See if you can count how many guitar parts were laid down in this track, and yet the song, with all its funkiness has so much air / white space in it. Room for the listener to feel the funk!

Thanks for the review. One of my favourites. I love the space, the bass line which starts in the same genre as FM. The musical break is insane and Steve Khan is a genius. Just brilliant.

So much music, so few Steely Dans.

I've always considered this song about a father finally deciding to let his grown daughter marry, and having him followed to make sure that he's worthy. The guitar riffs going back and forth show how the suitor and father show a passionate interest and a common ground, but now it's "stopping time" ... it's now the husband's turn to take over.

I love this song. It's so catchy and you're the only one who has reacted to it. Thanks.

Not my favorite in the early day. The constant of change has made it a favorite.

Sounds unfinished to me. Dan would usually cook up some flavourful sauce. My guess is that Walter was still in hospital, or the budget had run out.

The guitar is sick. One gets so used to wonderful Steely Dan licks that they don't get enough credit for some of them.

The intro is the definition of flavorful sauce??
