This was really great. I also give props to the guy accompanying Robert on beatbox. I can only imagine the amount endurance and breath control you have to have to be able to do a whole song like that. Well done.
I'm sickened this took 10 years to find me. I grew up with Radiohead and these madlads made one of my fave songs 100X better. Like, I have no words at how awesome these dudes pulled this off... Incredible talent. Yes i'm crying. Wild talent.
Glasper rocks. His live shows are wonderful. His fusion is unique, fresh, but grounded, with a knowledge and appreciation of all that's come before him. It makes it exciting to watch him, because that breadth as an artist makes him unpredictable.
@ 3.15 - 3.50 INCREDIOUS interplay between keys and drums - UNBELIEVABLE! Its mightily dynamic, super-charged vibrancy, and is all the musical medicine necessary to remind ourselves why and what it is we are constantly in search of on TH-cam: FOR MOMENTS SUCH AS THIS! Big Thumps Up for the beatboxer! - this must be years of study in the art of Drum & Bass.
I'm glad Jazz is still with the youth. Refreshing. Im able to show my kids it's more to music than mumble rap and trap beats. Bless all the young gifted musicians who appreciate the science and infinite math rhythm.
Colin did an interview a while back with Robert as a guest. If I remember correctly Colin said they heard his cover when Radiohead were on tour, and decided to put Packt on their setlist for the rest of the tour.
I very quickly forgot this was beatboxing. It's only when I looked at the screen again that I realized this is a human. And turning away from the screen again and just listening, it seems impossible that someone can even do this.
Incredible... you guys just rock. I got in touch with Robert Glasper's songs here in Brazil, in one of his concerts, and got addicted. Congrats on the massive talent.
Some of the most stylish, spot-on beat boxing I've ever heard💛✨Wow Taylor McFerrin and Thank You🙏🏻 Then combining that with Robert Glasper's heavenly piano playing style 😱what a feeling🎶✨🎶✨🎶✨and then add to that the beauty of that bass player's vibe! Yeah it truly makes you never want to leave❤️🌟❤️🌟❤️🌟this is the stuff I live for👌🏼🌹
Such admiration and nostalgic respect to the beatbox method not only a very important hip hop foundation, it's still a fundamental part of musical creativity
Yeah, nice! I booked to see Glasper at SF Jazz while in the States last year. Missed my flight and all I could think about as that I missed the gig. Next trip, Mr Glasper.
I hope Thom Yorke would’ve possibly heard this. It’s fantastic. Great take on one of their more sort of over looked tracks. Loved your chord voicings for the verse melodies a lot.
That beatboxing is so awesome. I never would have thought of combining beatboxing and jazz but it works so well.
Neither did I....

True innovator
Today was a good day - I discovered Robert glasper
Enjoy.
I’m happy for you
You discovered an amazing musician.
Welcome to the ride. It's a continuous wave of creative expression...
Me too...
This was really great. I also give props to the guy accompanying Robert on beatbox. I can only imagine the amount endurance and breath control you have to have to be able to do a whole song like that. Well done.
It's Bobby Mc Ferrin's son, no worry about steadiness
Taylor McFerrin
I never thought about that. Now I really appreciate it. Wow.
He beat box flams. Crazy
A lot of the sounds alternate on inhales and exhales. For the most part you can breathe pretty normal while beatboxing
Robert Glasper changed my life.
How am I only seeing this in big big 2019. Incredible
We're slaves to the algorithm but it does sometimes give good stuff.
Same here...18th of October ..
same?!?!
Why the hell isn't this more popular? This is absolutely amazing.
i agree with you... I'm here in 2019 screaming why?
I'm sickened this took 10 years to find me. I grew up with Radiohead and these madlads made one of my fave songs 100X better. Like, I have no words at how awesome these dudes pulled this off... Incredible talent. Yes i'm crying. Wild talent.
Sorry it took you so long but glad you found the light.
The beatboxer is Taylor McFerrin son of no other than the great Bobby McFerrin. Apple didn't fall far from that tree
It really didn’t! He was great!
This is EXACTLY the direction that contemporary jazz should go in: innovative, lyrical, and clearly impassioned. Bravo to the trio!!!!
My favourite Radiohead song performed by my favourite pianist. Life is amazing.
The way this beatboxer is keeping up tho... The whole thing was perfection!
I don't know how I forgot about this gem. I'm so glad YT recommended it to me.
THIS DUDE ROBERT GLASPER IS DEFINETELY IN A CLASS BY HIS SELF.
Glasper rocks. His live shows are wonderful. His fusion is unique, fresh, but grounded, with a knowledge and appreciation of all that's come before him. It makes it exciting to watch him, because that breadth as an artist makes him unpredictable.
Exactly!!!!!!! well said
For sure. He's Impeccably tasteful.
came for the piano, stayed for the beatboxing
The beatbox is Bobby McFerren's son...
@@SwhatleyD725 That's explains a lot.
Absolutely. Best I've heard in years. No acrobatics, just an adequate accompaniment to the bass and keys.
Stayed for the beatboxing, c*me for the piano
Thanks TH-cam algo for recommending this to me SIX YEARS after upload.
Asif Khan me too! F*cking algorithm
--even more for me. This is great work!
You came right on time 😁
Robert Glasper is a musical genius.
The heavy beat juxtaposed with the delicate piano and then the bass comes in (from 0:45 to 1:10)... is f'n hypnotic. #somanyfeels
+Ann Hoang or anyone - do you know something similar? Of other artist? I need more! Thanks
in a different style: there are moments in Fela Kuti's recordings where the music arrests you with an organic hypnosis.
Ann Hoang Robert Glasper is such a force in music.
The man never fails to demonstrate true quality.
OMG how did I get to this beautiful place and can I stay forever?!
Can I stay as well please?, super super talented!!, HUGE!!!

50 seconds in and this is the most important video on youtube.
Robert, there's something about the way you play. I have a high respect for Derrick Hodge. As for Terry, your beatboxing skill is remarkable.
Can't get any better than that

That beatbox dude obviously has the one mic 🎤, but then how are we hearing the piano and bass so well?? 🎤 🎤
Absolutely captivating. Thank you Robert Glasper, Taylor McFerrin, and Derrick Hodge.
Very nice that you also mention Derrick Hodge, 'cause he's a great bass player!
I love this so much.. Glasper, you think of Everything. I want to hug your Spirit and your Brain at the same time.
Beautifull.. This crew is pure talent.
I didn’t know Taylor was that good on beatbox and rythme, little mind blown here!
Some people are just TOO talented. Brilliant
i really hope that Radiohead has seen this. what a beautiful rendition.
Colin did an interview a while back with Robert as a guest. If I remember correctly Colin said they heard his cover when Radiohead were on tour, and decided to put Packt on their setlist for the rest of the tour.
@@_CoasterNinja sweet insight, thanks for sharing that!
The freestyle jazz breakdown is something Thom would really enjoy
Sooooo underated. Pure mastery of craft. SOULmusic.
Fantastic performance! Loved that reverb effect mc F did on the snre for the last part.
Now this is the kind of beatboxing that I could appreciate
I very quickly forgot this was beatboxing. It's only when I looked at the screen again that I realized this is a human. And turning away from the screen again and just listening, it seems impossible that someone can even do this.
The opening had me crying with laughter. I've played it a dozen times!!!
Incredible... you guys just rock. I got in touch with Robert Glasper's songs here in Brazil, in one of his concerts, and got addicted. Congrats on the massive talent.
This is, without doubt, the greatest thing going on in music today. Oh to experience it live...
He does this live? When?
