Paris McCoy one of my great + grandfather's. His father was Daniel ,Randal brother. So we are related . Love hearing all your alls stories. My grandma told stories back in the 60s...I remember listening to them. Can you see if you can find the Sullivan Cemetery in Pikeville Ky. Area please.
It's always good to hear a story on the Hatfield and McCoys. This cemetery is well kept up. The scenery is beautiful. I wish we had your warm weather up north. Keep up the great work, Leo and Heather.
Somebody please tell me why, during these fast paced trying times, after a long hard day at work, I truly find this history of violent times very interesting and relaxing ?
I taught my 2 sons to shoot with a 22 from 50 yards out first shooting match boxes and then with a dime on a tree open site only they were only 7 and 4 at the time they were pretty good and would compete against each other there momma didn't like it but I told her they could always feed themselves and family later on I never regretted doing it
I guess I throw a wrench into the analytics, I work nights and watch you at all hours of the night and even listen to your stories sometimes thru the bluetooth on my car stereo while driving home. I was just talking earlier to my boyfriend about your channel and what videos I've watched the past couple of days ..LOL
Ever since I found y'all's videos I have been watching them like crazy, I can't get enough of them, I am enjoying the stories and I am enjoying seeing the hollers again I miss them my granny on my dad's side is from Kentucky and her and most of the family still live up there.
I grew up in a family of nine with four older brothers and we all hunted. Ate lots of wild game including squirrels. Mom would par boil them to keep them somewhat tender. Sorry for rambling on but your videos make me very nostalgic. You guys have a way of drawing the viewer into the videos as if we are right there beside you. I’m hooked🤗
Mommy fixed them like that also with white gravy. She always fixed a pot of sweet potatoes with it. We all loved it. I personally loved fried squirrels the best. Mommy’s good cookin. Late 1950’s through mid-1970’s.
Yep, pick the bones clean with what meat there was on them. Throw the meat in with bacon grease and flour in the skillet add milk when the meat browns for squirrel gravy to go on sweet potatoes or biscuits😋 I liked it any way it was cooked.
I like watching all your videos of Eastern Ky West Virginia and Virginia and would like to visit some of these. Have you ever thought about filming some in Tn? I live on the Tn - Ky border but not in the mountains.
Maybe you have already in some of your other videos ( Still Catching Up ) but it would be interesting to see Skunk Hair Tom Wallace, Selkirk Mcoy and Bill Staton graves. Keep the videos coming. Love what you're what doing.
You two make an awesome couple and do a tremendous job. I'm very appreciative for all the history that you guys bring us. I'm the guy that adds to your nightly analytics lol. I usually listen to you before bed lol.
Very pretty peaceful place. A good place for eternal rest. Samuel must have been quite a character. Not only was it not raining & no briar patch there was not a wickedly steep hill to climb. Today was a good day for you. 😊 Congratulations on a million views. That's an achievement to be proud of. Safe travels. I'll be waiting for the next video
I grew up in Southern Indiana right across the Ohio River from Henderson KY. The men in my family were very avid hunters, especially my papaw and he taught them everything he knew. So I grew up surviving on squirrel..rabbit..and other animals I'm sure they tricked us into eating haha. I love ya'lls videos. I'm a new subscriber and I've been binge watching. We were hillbillies too as far as I knew. Didn't have much except each other. Thank you for the videos ❤❤
I just love this video that was just so amazing, so beautiful, so peaceful I sure think both of y’all from the bottom of my heart that you bring us such history on the Hatfields and McCoys I just can’t get enough of them they were Truly amazing. The feud was crazy but I love history and I love the way you go out and show us the history of the Hatfield and McCoy the different graves and all that y’all do for this video I sure thank you have a good sweet day. God bless both of you.
Greetings from Canada. Those back hills sure held their fair share of colourful characters! Keep up the good work -- I do so enjoy the geography and history of the region you present.
I love your videos, my family on dad's side were originally from Kentucky and Mom's side was mainly Tennessee before migrating to Southwest Missouri. The park and surrounding area at Burgess falls was once owned by my family. It's my goal to someday get there and see it before I get too old the explore the area. Again awesome videos and keep them coming.
Hi there Leo and Heather greetings from Bonnie Scotland. I'm enjoying your videos so much, very interesting indeed. You both seem like very lovely people. The scenery lately is so beautiful and very much like Scotland. Keep up the good work folks and for my part I'll keep watching them.
Love these videos!! Especially since I grew up in The Appalachias. Hearing the stories and tales from the mountains from my Grandparents. I’m glad to see being an adult now I can still hear my favorite stories from awesome hosts like you guys.
Leo I'm willing to bet that squirrel hunting Sam started out with a black powder rifle, that's what I started with an old single shot 40-caliber Kentucky rifle, maybe you should make a video of you squirrel hunting and bring the squirrels home and have Heather fix them up😅
I just got record documentation this evening, my great--great grandmother was Abbie Hatfield. I should have figured when I saw one of her son's name was Anderson Rose...lol. My g-g grandfather was Solomon Rose. I guess that makes us distant cousins.
It’s a long rabbit hole . Although not as long as your family. Lucen Ontario is where the drama happened . Mass murder fires etc . You will love the story!
Leo, the hillbilly file has behind my favorite channel on the you tube. I he up in Lawrence County ohio.(Ironton) y'all channel gives me a feeling of home. My wife and i have started spending at least a weekend every month there now because y'all made me so homesick. So thanks. I spent me while teen years fighting to leave those hills, now i can't wait to get back there.
Hi Heather & Leo! Just discovered your channel and I ❤ it!!! You are a great storyteller! Thanks for sharing! It's rainy today so having a coffee and a bit of the Hillbilly Tales!
Love your videos, been watching quite a while, it is hard to believe you having it's AWESOME. I'm 65, and love the HATFIELD MCCOY, HISTORY. Climbed the hill DEVIL ANSES GRAVE 2019, Leo you and Heather have me hooked,
The scenery is absolutely gorgeous Leo. Yes, you do end up in some very interesting predicaments. But, you always make it out of them. Be careful being out in the rain as strep throat, bronchitis and upper respiratory problems along with the flu is going around. This cemetery looks like it is well taken care of as compared to others that you visited. Interesting nickname, "Squirrel Hunting Sam." Awesome video and love the deep research that Heather does for them. You aren't a bad storyteller. Ha!! I don't like squirrel either.
OMG...I grew up eatin squirrel and rabbits and I love em, me and papa hunted them, cleaned them, and my Granny fried em up with biscuits and red eyed gravy...now all I do is claybird shoot 😔...another great history lesson y'all...❤
we dont often eat squirrel in the UK, mainly because you'd find more meat on a butcher's pencil. Our squirrels are about the size of a lean kitten. my question has always been... do squirrels taste like nuts? 🤣🤣 Seriously though, hunting is still fairly common where I live. But its mainly birds and deer. And a lot of people (city folks that have moved in because they want to make like a country person) wont eat it because they think its what poor people eat. I dont mind, more for me!! I'll eat pretty much anything, but I've never liked rabbit because its so bony and it makes me gag.
I don't know if you noticed this or not, but at 3:25 the spirit of Sam McCoy came in to see his visitor. He came in behind his headstone so fast that you can see him(the white cloudy thing) and hear him by the hissing and the clunk sound. Then, after picking himself up, he comes around to the front of the headstone at 3:30. He's that tiny white light that goes from the left upper corner down to the right corner. He followed you all over the graveyard as you visited the others. When you were talking about Mary's name being Mary Berry I hear a male voice say "it's cute!" It doesn't sound like your voice. Then you did use the word "cute" afterwards. ????? I would like to say that you are so considerate and respectful to the people in the cemeteries. You tell the truth about them with kindness. You are not harsh or cruel in stating the facts of their lives. And they do see and hear everything that you say. I'm sure that they speak highly of your effort to honor them.
Back in the day (I'll be 53 monday) my step dad was a very avid hunter. I've ate more squirrel gravy than I care to admit oh how i hated that stuff, I didn't like the rabbit or deer meat either !My momma would cook whatever my step-dad brought home! I hated that stuff 😂 but we were taught you either eat what momma cooked or went hungry. One thing I remember eating that I thought was gross was those daggone groundhogs. But the one thing I liked that you may think is gross was grouse. Yes I've plucked many of chickens from a#3 tub of boiling water too. Needless to say I'm not much of a wild game meat person lol Thanks again for such a great video KEEP DOING WHAT YOU AND HEATHER DO LEO!

About the color of Devil Anse's 😈 shoes, who cares! Now for the rest of the video. Very interesting story about Sam and Paris. Everyone should have a niche in life, apparently squirrel hunting was Sam's. The cemetery is flat-out beautiful, as is the surrounding countryside. Take care. 😊

First thing I do is hit the thumbs up, even before I watch the video. One, so I don't forget and two, because I know I will like it. 😊
Exactly!
It's always good to hear a story on the Hatfield and McCoys. This cemetery is well kept up. The scenery is beautiful. I wish we had your warm weather up north. Keep up the great work, Leo and Heather.
