Trump was in absolute denial of the gravity of COVID-19 and didn't want the pandemic to make him look bad. So he downplayed it until he couldn't do so anymore after his battle with COVID-19 became personal and public. This really turned his admiration for Xi Jin Ping turned to anti-Chinese xenophobia.

@@bonsa1guy The curious thing, in any case, is that in many other countries that shut down the economy, sent people into indefinite quarantines, etc. their mortality rates were still above those of the United States. Then it was said that quarantines were useless and the same with masks. I don't know, Trump in this case followed the more democratic approach leaving autonomy to the states to take whatever actions they wanted and as far as I know, no federal aid was denied to hospitals or medical institutions.

A friend of mine went out of her mind, like this guy ranting about Trump, when she was told by the care facility she couldn't visit her mother in hospice care because of Covid. My friend sent a text, knowing I was a Trump supporter, ranting about "orange man" making this stupid regulation preventing her from seeing her mother! She was enraged and just spewing anger! I told her I was sorry this was happening, but I didn't add that I didn't think Trump made that decree. A little while later we found out that she could visit her mother after all because she was in hospice and the decree only applied to the rest of the facility--so, "Nevermind." I don't think she admitted that it was our democratic Governor Inslee who wrote the decree. So whatever this democratic congressman is blathering about by saying this was Trump's doing is hardly (ever) the whole story. President Trump followed the CDC/Fauci recommendations. Whenever Trump tried to go beyond the bureaucrats and expand how we could fight Covid with Ivermectin and monoclonal treatment, he was attacked viciously by the Democrats and corporate media. By trying to prevent people coming into the country, President Trump was attacked as a racist. You know the drill.
I live in a blue state & it was the governor and the mayor who shut the state down. Not Donald Trump!

First, most people who deal with critical response scenarios often know that your initial response is to stop the bleeding, it is reactionary, and you are moving on little knowledge and experience. I'd put this in the 8 months for Trump's handling. Later iteratives are more appropriate as you now have data, a better understanding of risk, etc. Second, I did some quick research, not sure on reliability of the sources, but it appears the first mandates for both masks and vaccines all took place under the Biden plan. Closing businesses, schools, and non-essential gathering places (gyms, studios, etc) during an initial panic response is one thing. However, taking away civil liberties with mask and vaccine mandates is another. There are still people out there who have long-term animosity toward their neighbors in the whole culture wars of people who mask/vaccinate vs those who don't. What a political and social tragedy this whole event was, end to end.

Whether or not the guidance was enforced was up to the individual states for the remainder of that year. Certainly Trump did not encourage compliance with either mask wearing or social distancing. That is why the US death toll from Covid is much higher than it needed to be.

My adopted brother died in a long term care facility because of COVID infection after he'd been vaccinated and boosted not of his stage 4 cancer but COVID. I wasn't allowed to visit even through a window because the facility refused to bring him to the window to be visited with at their place. Me I cought COVID before many people even knew about it, I thought it was just the flu so took all the necessary care precautions and it spread quickly throughout our little family to include small children. Funny none of us actually infected anyone else as we totally separated ourselves from interaction with anyone where we were living. Absolutely No one else got sick. The only way we figured it had to be COVID was I had lost my sense of smell for three days and forced myself with peppermint, lavender, and menthol oils to regain my ability to smell, now because of that I have a hypersensitivity to just about anything that has an odor. Cannabis to me not only caused my throat to swell but causes my eyes to water and makes me sick because it smells stronger than a dead skunk which someone also stepped in dog sh*t while being sprayed by the skunk before it died. So with only separation for ten days, lots of fluids, OTC vitamins and supplements, hot showers and the oils our family hasn't ever tested positive for that virus since the tests have been done. We're still living in tight quarters and no COVID, praise the God of Creation, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob He is the only physician who's not just Practicing medicine he heals all who ask, sometimes it's not how we expect to be healed. Btw, my natural biological brother also had cancer got COVID and his cancer was cured he's still living.
I was ill for 5 months starting about the time we were becoming aware of Covid 19, literally visited a clinic and my own doctor...both thought my lungs were clear, but up on insisting on chest x-rays (I had asked if I had walking pnemonia) my lower lungs were full of fluid. Having been athletic 'probably' gave me the lungs and and strength to deal with my illness by taking precautions, and was given 2 5 days scripts that boosted my wellness. Losing close to 2 million citizens during the pandemic period is not a normal rate of death...it spiked. Natural immunity is great, but, for example, death rates would be higher with out flu vaccine...and the covid vaccine has to be addressed in a similar vein. Recently tested positive for covid, but it felt like a typical change in the weather cold...no medication what so ever and I was over symptoms in 5 days...but I have had the 4 boosters (6 shots in total now), was it natural ly built up strength or the worst blocked by the vaccines...I do not know or care...Glad I never experienced POLIO...get the point? Lost an uncle who had health issues and was already in a care unit while I survived.
@@NiteMoves2010 I'm glad you were able to survive and stay well even with the boosters showing up positive to me isn't enough to say they actually work on prevention, maybe they shouldn't pass them along as a preventative but rather an option to reduce severe illness. I can understand both sides and because of family history and my own issues, I chose not to get the vaccine. I haven't taken anything prescription other than pain meds in nearly five years. It's for Me, vitamins, minerals, herbs, and supplements and because of my lifestyle as well, I am still healthier than most. When neighbors and coworkers came up positive, our tight spaced living has been successful in keeping our family from most things. Weather change colds, environmental caused allergies, and regular dust and dander along with poor draining ears has us dealing with ear infections and sinusitis at least twice a year pre-covid so with no change I feel blessed we are continuing to have no diar need for intervention stay safe and healthy.
