Also pretty sure that was an Eastern Grey roo, or maybe a female Red. In either case, roos are ripped. A fully grown male Red is terrifying when you see them face to face.

Magpies are awesome, except for the swooping. We have a family of magpies in a tree across from our house; they often drop over and have a feed of worms in our front yard, and we make sure to keep water out for them in the warm weather.

The spider web thing happens when there is a lot of rain. Those spiders are always around, but they build their webs up high when it floods. Around here it can look like snow sometimes, it is that thick. And it will cover entire fields and all the bushes and fences. But they are pretty harmless.
That was a grey kangaroo too. The males get pretty much as big as red kangaroos on average, but the females are much smaller.

The one thing we miss most about our old house, is we had possums that would come visit in the back yard every night.
We named a few of them, but one in particular (the oldest by the looks) used to come inside and sit by the fire on a cold winters night and watch TV with us. he would eat the cat food and just chill. he never made a mess and was actually one of the best house guests we have ever had. It was so odd. you could hand feed him and he loved a good scratch on the back of the neck.

Video idea: literally anything learning about our monotremes. Platypus and Echidna are 2 of the most unique animals in the world and both can only be found in Australia. Platypus are more known than Echidna, but so many people think that Echidna are porcupines or hedgehogs when they are far from it. And in this video you said they were furballs, however they are far from covered in fur. Those spikes do hurt lol. So please, video idea of learning about our egg-laying mammals will be an enlightening addition to your knowledge about Australia

I encountered an echidna resting in the middle of the road. So that it would be safe from being hit, I stopped the car to move it off the road. I approached it to gently push it along with my unprotected hand. When I got to within a couple of inches it violently jerked its body towards my hand stabbing me with its spines and drawing blood. Fortunately the injury did not get infected, as they do bury themselves under the soil.
Then it casually walked off the road.
Dont worry about drop bears, watch out for leaping echidna. Having one of those bursting out of the dirt in front of you and flying at your face is another thing for visitors to watch out for.

Ah, the cute echidna, also known as the bane of truck drivers... (says the truck driver's wife). Their spines are hollow, so if you run over an echidna, you can say goodby to the tyre, since they're very hard and also virtually impossible to extract cleanly. Tyre repair places hate them because the spines are also 'dirty', covered in bacteria, incredibly sharp and cause horrible infected wounds if you accidentally stab yourself. All that said, they are an incredibly endearing creature with those long wiffley noses, and unique biology.

That is a great video, I am glad you watched it. How about the 5 metre croc swimming by the boat. I don't think I am filming, I think I am going straight to the bank. They typically use the sheep term for a group of kangaroos. Technically it needs to be more than 10 but I am not sure people bother to count. It is called a "mob" of Kangaroos but I have also heard that they can be called a "troop" but I have never heard anyone say that.

And just so you know a "bugger" is someone who comitts "buggery". Buggery is interference with a man's anus, buggery was illegal in Australia until the 50's, i grew up with sayings like "quit the buggery" and "dirty bugger"

Go back to the magpie and the cat, and listen to the magpie. Not some sort of crow! Which call did it make? Its own or another bird? Here’s an Australian magpie doing his own call, my favourite way to wake up in the morning! th-cam.com/video/oYEYc8Ge3nw/w-d-xo.html. They are also great mimics of the sounds they hear around them, including manmade ones!

Hi Ian, just responding to the spider web phenomenon, it happens under certain weather conditions, like frost I think. But I can’t remember what state it happened in, I thought the Riverland, which is over SA & VIC. It’s a creepy sight, I only discovered that last year lol n I’m 50. 😂 eew.
