The Panerai Luminor 1950 3 Days PAM 372 is a beautiful brute. With its classic martial stance, 47mm "1950" case, and high-polish finish, the PAM 372 combines the best elements of Panerai's past and present.
At arm's length, the Luminor 1950 PAM 372 looks the part of mid-century tactical gear. The no-nonsense dial tells the time in bold characters- period. Its case reads like a bank vault and the crown guard looks ready to pull double duty as the business end of an impromptu brass (stainless?) knuckle. A traditional Panerai calf skin strap completes the effect.
For good measure, Panerai graces the simulated-patina "dirty dial" with a halo of authentic Plexiglas as employed in the Italian Navy originals. The unique refractive qualities of the acrylic bubble bend light and distort the features just enough to add endearing vintage character.
But look closer, and refinement assets itself. Consider the 18 karat rose gold hands; they complement the subdued ecru tones of the patina indexes. This is a polished luxury product in every sense; every surface of the bezel and gracefully contoured "1950" case gleams.
Inside the famous Panerai Luminor "cushion" case, a Panerai in-house Caliber P.3000 keeps time better than any of the old war horse movements. With a free-sprung balance, dual-anchored balance bridge, and modern shock protection, the Panerai P.3000 can take knocks that would have put the originals out of action.
As befits a luxury product, unseen refinements abound in the Caliber P.3000. A generous three-day power reserve and independent "time zone" hour hand setting system add utility for the modern watch owner.
Colors, contrast, and reverence for heritage define the Panerai Luminor 1950 3 Days PAM 372. See it in high-resolution images on www.thewatchbox.com Video and content by Tim Mosso.

Great review of the PAM 372. I have this watch and I truly believe it is the most beautiful timepiece I've ever seen. The only negative thing I can say about this piece is the crown guard does slightly dig in to the back of your hand when worn on your left hand. It took about 1 month for my left hand to get used to the acute pressure of the crown guard, but after that my skin must have adapted to the feel, and it does not bother me anymore. It is my all-time favorite watch and I hope I can pass it down to a future son as an heirloom piece.

Jacob Harrington Hi Jacob, welcome to our channel! The 372 is a definite heirloom piece, so hang on to it, and your grandkids will love it as much as you do. I've found that different wrists react very differently to the crown guards. Sometimes, it's a function of how loose you wear the straps (loose tends to move around more and contact the wrist).
I have seen right-handed Paneristi wearing the PAM 557 for this very reason. The watch is an inverted PAM 372 designed to be worn conventionally on a lefty's right wrist, so it wears with the crown guard opposite the wrist when worn on a right-handed owner's left wrist. This tends to remove the conflict between wrist and guard.
      Best,
      Tim

@@the1916company Tim, what's the lug-to-lug distance on this 372? I just measured it at 25.5mm...is that correct??

Great review. Thanks so much for mentioning the size of your wrist for perspective. Especially with a 47. I have a 7" wrist, so it's important to me. I'm not sure how much importance to put in the Plexiglas versus Sapphire. For first Panerai.

Hi Tim!!!I have a 44mm Panerai and I am very satisfied with the fit. I also have a 47mm watch that also stands quite good on my wrist, which is about the same as yours. I would like to know ,if possible, the lug to lug measurment of this PAM....It is a beauty!!! Thanx in advance!!!

This is my favorite looking panerai. I wish I had the gorilla wrists to pull it off...

Yeah, if they released a watch exactly like this but 44mm I'd be all over that. Can't do 47 unfortunately

Thomas Müller Hi Thomas, welcome to our channel! Panerai really scored with the 372. I've never met Paneristi who didn't like the 372, and I know at least a handful of real watch connoisseurs who have told me this could be their only watch if they were forced to keep just one.
      Best,
      Tim

Tim, if you had a choice between this model (Pam 372) and a Pam 270, which would you choose and why? Thank you for the great review btw.. you are very insightful

+algorithm007ify Thank you for your kind words. For my money, the conceptual purity and clean lines of the 372 carry the day. I think the complicated PAM 270 is a great Panerai for a collector who keeps a small quiver of the brand's best and already counts several "essential" Radiomir and Luminor models among his holdings.
      Best,
      Tim

+watchuwantinc Thank you Tim. Panerai watches tend to feel right with simple handsome minimalistic designs.. The 270 is a beauty but I tend to agree with you with regards to which is the essential piece.

emman almarez Hi emman, welcome to our channel! In general, scratches in stainless steel will be removed as a free addition when you send the watch to Panerai service every 3-5 years. This is the safest way to restore your factory finish. If you wish to attempt restoration yourself, it's a challenge, but other Panerai owners have done it with these products and techniques: paneristi.com/archives/reviewcomp/tide/index.html

Hi Tim, i also have a 6.5" wrist like yours. I have tried this on and im undecided about whether i can pull it off. This is along with the 448 my fave panerais! How do you feel about wearing this?
Ps my friend is delighted with the iw500107 i bought from Michael!

    • @the1916company
      @the1916company  8 ปีที่แล้ว

+dlhussain81 Purely in terms of fit, I don't think there would bet any problem since your wrist is exactly the same size as our CEO, OJ Whatley, and OJ often wears the 47mm 1950 case across many different references. Security on the wrist and appearance of proportion shouldn't be an issue since the case sits pretty flush and deliberately oversize is the signature Panerai look. The strap pares down visual bulk compared to a watch of this size with a conforming strap (shaped end pieces) or full bracelet. We do allow a 7-day no-questions-asked return window for every watch so that our many online buyers can get a full sense of how a watch wears before deciding to own it. Separately, I'm very happy to hear about your friend's experience with our team. Michael sends his regards and thanks! Definitely give him a call if you'd like to try the PAM 372 we have in stock (the condition is unworn).
      Best,
      Tim

el serbio Hi el serbio, and welcome to our channel! You're absolutely on-the-money regarding this PAM 372. I've never met a devoted "Paneristo" who didn't love the 372; many very hardcore collectors of the brand have called it the best of the 1993-present civilian series. I'll add that even the more expensive Panerai complications can't top the elegant simplicity of that 1950 case, classic dial, and rose gold hands...
      Best,
      Tim
