Hi guys, just come across your channel and I really love watching people restore old ships/yachts and I just love all the craftsmanship that goes into it. I have subscribed and I will be looking forward to watch all the episodes and thank you for using eucalyptus oil from Australia. Keep up the good work. Cliff from Logan City Queensland Australia 🇦🇺
Hi Cliff! Welcome aboard our channel, and a huge thank you for subscribing! We're thrilled to hear you share our passion for restoring old ships and yachts. The craftsmanship truly is something special, and we're glad you appreciate the hard work and dedication that goes into the project.
Got on a lucky one. This's an awesome project - sure don't look like it'll be easy, but it'll totally be worth it. What an opportunity for some talented folks to do some significant work. Props to everyone involved.
I needed to see this today, all of it. The twangy guitar and song, the dogs - definitely the dogs, the work of countless craftsmen being honored and renewed the scenery and even the boatyard. Thank you for taking the time and effort to share this with the world 🤙
Great project! My buddy's boat had a coin under the aft bollard (steel bunker boat) and my boat which is the sister boat probably also has one under there also.
Hello from CT, I loved watching your video! Is there any footage of the boat inside tour, before you all started taking her apart?? also wish the video was a tad longer. Thanks, I am looking forward to more !!
We will have a bit more coming in the next episode but unfortunately we don’t have as much as we’d want, at this early stage it was only one person on camera capturing the whole team moving very fast, we’re a very small team pulling this channel together with personal funding/resources which unfortunately puts some limitations on the footage we’ve been able to get. Glad you like it!
Unless the planking is in good condition, it is worthles to restore the boat. Wodden boats have their lifespan, unfortunately. Don't waste time and money on a wreck, even it's a very beautiful one.
Quite often it’s just the planks that need to be replaced. Any boat is worth being saved if someone loves it and has the means. Thankfully North Star has a very loving owner. Wooden boats are nearly the only boats that are worth saving and can last Indefinitely.
I guess its commendable to save an old boat but wouldn't it make more sense to build an exact replica when the original is in such bad shape. It would probably cost less too. This is a HUGE project Good luck. Sorry for the criticism.
The big things here is saving a piece of Canadian history, while the boat isn't going to be the same once she's repaired (because the boat is too far gone) we're at least saving as much as we can and giving her a second shot at life. ☺️
1984 was not a "silver" dollar suggest an original coin dated to ship be put in when done... She visited Ganges years ago and was a treat to see nice to see she gets much needed attention... Now how about making the St Roch seaworthy.....just sayin... hasn't she sat long enough ?
Love the music, love the commentary but please, for someone with hearing difficulties, do not talk over the music as I find it very hard to understand what you are saying.
Why do you think there's so much ballast in the bow? Was she maybe stern heavy before?
The extra weight could possibly have been to allow her to break through light ice after riding up on it.
Boat work plus a Neil Young cover ... I love it !
Glad you like it! 😃
This site comes close to being like the 'Tally Ho' project.
I like it.
Thank you! Maybe one day we'll have the same reach Tally Ho has!

More guitar! Jeff Hilberry is amazing. So are these videos!
😃😃😃
Question the inner layer of iron bark is that Australian iron bark?
It's a type of eucalyptus
Why Dawn. Why not Ivory or Palmolive or other dish soap?

Tell that to the USS Constitution…….
Good thing the North Star of Hershel Island is made of wood and is not a wodden wood boat .

Awesome song, you sound like the eagles.
Glad you like the music!

We would love to see her floating again
Love the music, love the commentary but please, for someone with hearing difficulties, do not talk over the music as I find it very hard to understand what you are saying.
please don't sing, I want to watch the refit - the music is a distraction.
If you want to see more content and raw footage head over to our Patreon where we are sharing a lot more and what's happening currently on site :)
Maybe try turning the sound off if you don’t like it….?
Omg the music is beautiful!! And adds to it! Can’t please everyone! @FavouriteBoatworks
I love the music and the refit!!!
get rid of the guitar!!
Really. What guitar are talking about in particular?
Was there more than one guy sitting there making noise with one?
There is guitar playing through most of the video.
Well get rid of it, better silence that that racket!
Jeff’s guitar is the cherry on top. If your looking flavourless content you’ve come to the wrong place. :)
