Good Job, nice project for thanksgiving week, social distancing, just you, fish and tanks....haha. If you don't want chips on the glass you are drilling, you need to put a hard surface underneath the glass that you are drilling. The best way is usually drilling the tank on the inside, so you can put the glass surface on something flat and sturdy. Also the cut you are doing will be better serve with the rubber o-ring of the bulk head. There will be no chip on the inside to the tank to compromise the seal. All good.

WOW!!! Everything is coming together, what an awesome project.
Less rpms and less pressure on the drill (let the weight of the drill do the cutting) will help keep the plugs from flaking once you get to the end of the cut when drilling tanks.

Hi. Maybe next time you should put wood on both sides of the glas and clamp it together rater tide. In my opinion your guiding hole is to big, kinda defeates parts of the purpose of a guidance the way it is.
Btw. the water is for cooling purposses, glass is very sensitive to variations in temp.

I've found that supporting the side of the tank being drilled on a flat surface gives a cleaner hole.
