I'm also planning to buy a Nintendo Switch Oled this coming December sa Datablitz just to play nba2k25 and monster hunter sunbreak, cuz hand held gaming that is portable is the best, and I'm really excited buy this while Switch 2 doesn't come out yet, I'm gonna buy switch 2 if it had Monster Hunter Wilds on it
What i still find awesome is that its also touch screen. Tbh i spent about $600 for mine . Why because of games and the warranty and the sd card , online membership etc. im on my fourth year with my switch with zero complaints.
Since you like mortal combat I will suggest that you try Super Smash Bros Ultimate at some point. Mario Kart 8, Animal Crossing New Horizons, Splatoon 3, Luigi’s Manson 3 are all also extremely fun games.
This vid suddenly pop into my feed. As a nintendo avid fan and collector. I use my other joycon (since its kinda pricey - to bought it separately) to play some casual games like animal crossing, pokemon, luigi's mansion etc that doesnt require heavy usage of the analog. But if you want to play splatoon 3, smash, or any game (fighting etc.) that require mashing the analog stick, I do recommend buying at least any 3rd party controller with or at least the hall effect analog so you can prevent or at least prolong the condition of your joycon from getting the inevitable joycon drift. It's one of the reason my daily driver switch get a drift from playing splatoon 3 in just a few days while my other unit doesn't. It really also depend how you heavily use/grind the analog. It easy to replace the joycon since it can be deattach but it really bothersome especially when playing it with the switch lite versions since the joycon is merged to the unit and require for the whole body to disassemble just to repair/replace the analog and other internal stuffs. Also as other said, the rumored switch 2 is just around the corner. So if you wait for a bit longer some current price of existing consoles will drop. But glad for your new purchase and hope this helps.
I had bought my first original nintendo switch when it first came out in 2017 that one lasted me for about 6 or 7 years the battery finally stopped working so then the nintendo switch version2 came I got that that one lasted me about the same amount years then the battery stopped working on that one the finally the nintendo switch oled came out I got the nintendo switch oled supersmash brothers edition I still have this one now I have a switch lite but a special edition the legend of zelda hyrule edition the grip I got for that is satisfy grip with the case and they make a satisfy grip and case for the oled as well

Animal crossing, splatoon 3, mario kart, and smash bros ultimate are very good games with tons of replay ability
There are so many good games on switch its game lineup are the best compared to other consoles
You should buy it with Tomtoc slim Oled case .. (with the color that you want) 🙂
