@Oof Oooof69 He remembered the Doctor and Martha and that the Doctor was not really the last of his kind *(“You are not alone!”)* in the year 5 billion and fifty three. Explain that!
@Oof Oooof69 Yeah, but Jack is a trained time agent and Ashildr was just a normal human being. Isn't that, what makes the time agents unique or something? That they can handle that better?
From the whole of series 4 this ( in my opinion) is the best scene. The pure heartbreak on his face when he mentions Ianto shows how much he loved him. How much he's still mourning the death of his boyfriend, and how much it hurts to be immortal and always just having to go on with life.
Ian Deeley they could’ve easily brought back Ianto. Resurrection could’ve become part of *”The Miracle”.* After all, The Three Families did say they wanted to control death. They could’ve somehow acquired Ianto’s dead body, since the British government never actually released it to his family, and experimented on him. Would’ve been a really cool idea. If I was writer I’d put that in the story.
Why the hell do people keep saying they should resurrect him? Are the basic elements of drama just lost on everyone? Yes, he was a great character, yes it was devestating when he died, but it would be so pathetically cheap to undo that. It would retroactively ruin Children of Earth (easily one of the best bits of adult drama in decades and one of the best contributions to Doctor Who in its entire history) by sucking all of the emotion and drama from it.
@@seanbraley2772 Well, it's not so terrible since Amy got to live a long happy life with Rory and the Doctor Donna is back. Even Clara could reappear, since she's present in the Doctor's past AND future. Ianto, on the other hand, is definitely lost.
I don't like how underutilized it is. I kinda miss it when Jack was the only one with a vortex manipulator. It felt special. Now everyone and their mother has one.
To be fair, during Capaldi's run as the Doctor, he told Clara that every single culture in the Universe has some idea of an Afterlife where souls go and that he always meant to go, "have a look around" as he put it. Plus there's Sutekh and the Beast, 2 evil beings who claim to be the inspiration for the various, "Ultimate Evils" like Satan, and there are a bunch of other god-like deities who would also probably have a sort of place to keep souls as well
Why would he see Ianto? Ianto was fully reconstructed by a being predating time and the universe itself (Syriath) to hurt Jack, then trapped himself on the other side of the Rift while sealing it to save the world. At least, that's what happened in the audio dramas. So I like to believe he's alive. Just, you know, lost in time and space.
I mean, thats just reality isn't it? Humans will always be the biggest threat to humanity. History is just a litany of atrocities humans have committed against one another.
I mean it’s not really a new question. They first explored that all the way back in Countrycide, then again in Meat and most prominently in Children of Earth
For me this is the best scene in the whole of Miracle day. Jack honouring and remember Ianto which was his dying wish. Just wish there was some more emotion from Jack.
The weight of immortality... The score... Talking about someone he loved and lost to someone he loved and lost... Miracle Day is the best series by far.
@Oof Oooof69 That’s why Ianto’s death is so goddamn heartbreaking. Because for once it’s not Jack leaving someone but Ianto leaving him. Jack lost the love of his life. As they say-there’s no normal after that. (Not that there was much ‘normal’ in the first place though.)
Xandra73 Jack took off Angelo’s oxygen mask to kiss him without realising that he was still mortal, causing his life support machine to struggle to keep him alive and then Jack unplugged it. He murdered him.
@@stephenmurphy2212 Can it really cause death, when you take a way an oxygen mask for such a short time? Angelo had the plate because he wanted to die on his own terms and then give Jack the device back. So for me it feels off that it was an accident. Maybe I'm just a tad romantic deep down. 😇
Hmm this Video makes me ask: How the hell is the Vortexmanipulator worn? If we look closely at 2:45 he has that speaker like thing facing away from him and that scanner ray seems to come from that circular blue light on the upper side of the device. But if we look at most other scenes and pictures the Manipulator is worn with that speaker part and the angled blue thing facing towards the user. Confusing. And yes i recognize such details for some reason...
Jack remembered Ianto. He kept his promise.
YEAh but like too yrs later lets see if there’s ever a bit of Jack in a thousand years time still keeping that promise.
@Oof Oooof69 He remembered the Doctor and Martha and that the Doctor was not really the last of his kind *(“You are not alone!”)* in the year 5 billion and fifty three. Explain that!
@Oof Oooof69 what if that’s why he became a giant head? Because he had so many memories?
@Oof Oooof69 Yeah, but Jack is a trained time agent and Ashildr was just a normal human being. Isn't that, what makes the time agents unique or something? That they can handle that better?
@Oof Oooof69 I doubt he will forget Ianto cos Ianto was his true love.
John Barrowman is a seriously underrated actor.
Miracle Day might not have matched up to the rest of Torchwood but his acting is phenomenal!

Nothing to do with the comment but love the profile picture Fred and George :))) love them
every mention of ianto breaks me down completely

Still wasn't the same without Ianto.
Agreed!!

That piano score though. So disappointed that we never got a soundtrack release for Miracle Day.
Sounds like Jack wants to believe there really is an afterlife.
I loved the references to Ianto (and briefly Owen) in Miracle Day. Didn’t ignore the previous seasons for the US audience.
Elliott Wardle *ianto
@@Owen_22228 Thank you 😂
Was there a difference? Did the UK get another season or something?
America watched the rest of the show like everyone else lmfao ??
Really wish Ianto was still around. 😢
It would’ve been better 🥺 I loved Ianto
Why does the mention of Ianto always break my heart?
It’s a reminder of what we’ve lost.

Same reason the mention of Amy or Donna kills us in Doctor who you want to believe it will work out then it dosent

Really love the new effect on Jack’s vortex manipulator: 2:47
I don't like how underutilized it is. I kinda miss it when Jack was the only one with a vortex manipulator. It felt special. Now everyone and their mother has one.
This is so powerful and underrated. Despite knowing there is no afterlife he holds out hope that Ianto is somewhere better.

Jack just yelling "he's dead!" is such a meme waiting to happen
Not me sobbing! He remembered Ianto!
OK i’m crying now 😭
It's the first time he's mentioned Ianto's name since the start of the season 😢❤
I love the idea of someone going "No way! How the hell did you do this?!" in complete and utter disbelief in response to someone simply dying lol

Its not canon

Every time Ianto is mentioned, my heart breaks
“He’s dead!” Captain Jack Harkness 2011
"He's DEAD!" lmao
My heart breaks every time I think of what they did to Ianto
Miracle Day posed an important question to the mythology of Torchwood. What if the biggest threat to humanity isn't aliens but humanity itself ?
I mean, thats just reality isn't it? Humans will always be the biggest threat to humanity. History is just a litany of atrocities humans have committed against one another.

@@EditedAF987 very very true but Miracle Day really did intensify that question
It wouldn’t even be the last time. Demons of the Punjab in Series 11 brought this question back. Turned out to be that season’s best story.
I've always loved this scene
One of the weirdest story's in Torchwood, and that's saying something after watching "Day One" from series 1
DALEK CAAN the weirdest story was the sex addicted alien that kills men when they cum.

One of my fav scenes 😥😥😥😥
The one part of Miracle Day I did watch
It just broke my hart when Jack left Angelo. This was the only time I hated Jack so much
You hated him more for that than the time he gave 12 orphans to some aliens to be used as drugs?

Jack actually murdered Angelo.
He just kissed him and Angelo let go. I thought that was a beautiful way to die.
