This verse was revealed when prophet Muhammad was being mocked by people of Mecca ,He was called crazy,mad because he recited verse from Allah.Then Allah revealed this verse on behalf of prophet declaring that he was not mad and these are truly the word of Allah,and he was best of character,so there is no reason for Muhammad to lie about Allah and Quran.This is the background history of this verse.

The narration about the garden has this background: there was a very pious believer who used to give a portion of his garden produce in charity to the poor when the fruits etc were ripe. His two sons were really annoyed with this habit of their father. They felt he was wasting it by giving away so much. By the grace of God, the garden continued to flourish. When he died, and the time came to take down the fruit, they knew the poor would come at the appointed time because of the way of their father. So early dawn, they left for their garden in darkness so they reach it and take away the fruit before the poor start coming. God did not like this arrogance and took away his blessings from the garden which had been because of the ways of their father. He destroyed the garden before they reached it. Then they realized the error of their ways.
(In Islam, giving charity is very important. It also brings God's blessings to the money/property or wealth.)
At the end (and the beginning), God is addressing the Prophet Muhammad pbuh, the people who he relayed God's revelations to, made fun of him and said that he was mad. God is assuring him not to be hurt and sad,and telling him not to let these things affect him

The problem is you are reacting to it....instead of acting upon it. What you've heard is pure guidance in this life to enable you succeed in the next life.
ALLAH SAID IN QURAN
The believers must (eventually) win through,
Those who humble themselves in their prayers;
Who avoid vain talk
Who are active in deeds of charity;
Who abstain from sex
Except with those joined to them in the marriage bond, or (the captives) whom their right hands possess,- for (in their case) they are free from blame,
But those whose desires exceed those limits are transgressors
Those who faithfully observe their trusts and their covenants
And who (strictly) guard their prayers;
These will be the heirs,
Who will inherit Paradise: they will dwell therein (for ever)
Man We did create from a quintessence (of clay);
Then We placed him as (a drop of) sperm in a place of rest, firmly fixed; View more verses
Then We made the sperm into a clot of congealed blood; then of that clot We made a (foetus) lump; then we made out of that lump bones and clothed the bones with flesh; then we developed out of it another creature. So blessed be Allah, the best to create!
After that, at length ye will die
Again, on the Day of Judgment, will ye be raised up
And We have made, above you, seven tracts; and We are never unmindful of (our) Creation
