Yes!! Ive been building my cart for over a month and it has changed so much. Mindful spending is so important. I impulse added and bought the merit lipstick trio after i fell in love with them in store but otherwise, everything was needed :)
I loved this type of video!! It’s so hard when there are sales so it’s nice to see someone else talk it through to not buy everything impulsively! Def helps me out to go through it with my cart.
I love this. I bought the DM lightwork pallete for me, gifts for my nieces and sisters, and shampoo/conditioner. I feel super proud of staying within budget 😅
Loved this video! I'm also trying to be more mindful when it comes to my purchases, but especially during this season with so many new releases and sales it's harder to resist going a bit overboard, so this was very helpful. Thank you for sharing!💕
I really appreciated the mindset you had and I understand your feelings toward everything 100% Thank you for sharing your thoughts and for the video ❤😊
Considering you started with hair products in the video, would you consider doing a video on how you do your hair? I’d love to see it. I tried to be mindful this year but I’ve had a bad week and fell off the deep end just a little. I’d say it was half mindful, half impulse. I did succeed in removing a LOT from my cart (because i do the same thing you do, just putting anything in that looks interesting to start!)
Sure, I’ll do a hair tutorial soon! And don’t be hard on yourself, we all fall off the deep end sometimes and there really is something to retail therapy sometimes!
I do this with any online cart, I’ll add to it for a long time and then go through it periodically and wait for sales on certain items and then buy when I feel like I need it! Keeps me from impulse buying and then returning, cuz I used to have a serious issue with that. This reduces chance of feeling guilty about over spending when I carefully think about each thing I want and only buy the things I’ll actually use
I tested a sample of the Huda foundation and found it very very pretty and flattering (especially if you have enlarged pores). The only reason I did not bite the bullet was because it was not in any way made for oily skin. I got dewy like an hour after having it on (I have combo skin). It didn’t break up or anything, but I would like it to not get oily for at least longer than an hour! And trust that I powdered like nobody’s business. I prefer the Haus labs.
Loved this video! Definitely helped me feel like I’m not alone in my struggles regarding overspending. Decided to put myself on a strict budget for the rest of the year, so I’m only allowing myself to purchase 1 item from the Sephora sale which is a perfume that’s limited edition.
First vid im catching of yours, you're very calming in this chaotic atmosphere. Also inspiring to get back into creativity with my looks, so thank you for that! I'm not buying anything in the sale, I need nothing now and I'm trying to finish my things. That Fenty foundation is on my radar too but i think I'll wait till I really need a new one.
Love your approach to this! PS I have the elf lip oil in jam session and the black honey gloss- and I totally love the elf one! It’s just perfect for every day. The black honey one is good but very pigmented and I usually go for subtle.
I have that clinique blush in pansy pop! It's so gorgeous especially paired with a cool red lip, but if you can get a similar shade with other productsthat you already have then it probablywont add much to your collection. I have both the oil and gloss in black honey: you definitely don't need both. I prefer the gloss because it's more opaque.
I appreciate this video so much, Evangeline! Long comment incoming in response 😅 Over the last year I have cut back on my Sephora spending bc I don’t really think it’s worth it, esp in the current state of the economy. I am fatigued from seeing tone deaf influencers often recommend luxury products without any regard for their cost and their Sephora recommendation videos. I love the mindfulness you convey in most of your videos and we need more of that in the beauty community! I am trying to spend and consume less, using what I have, and turning to cheaper alternatives. I got into Asian beauty brands this year which changed everything! There is a Clinique Black Honey lip gloss dupe I own by Peripera Ink Glasting lip gloss in shade 06. I tried Fenty’s foundation as a shade or two darker olive than you and could not find a shade match. I also have fine hair and have been using AG when on sale, Kristin Ess, and Verb for volumizing products. I own Merit’s Fox blush and I like it for how sheer it is. When you’ve influenced me to swatch Rose Inc’s Foxglove shade, I don’t need both lol. If you don’t like the formula don’t even bother. You have one you love already! Also used that Kosas brow gel in the same exact shade and it is literally the best tinted brow gel I’ve ever used. Just so over priced! Much love 🧡🧡🧡
I’m glad this type of video resonates! I definitely feel that pressure to try all the new products and it gets overwhelming and exhausting. And then the TikTok trend cycle has totally aggravated this problem! I would love to try more Asian beauty brands down the road. There’s a whole other world out there!
The only thing I bought at the sale was the Urban Decay face bond foundation. My oily skin loves it and it lasts the whole day! It also consists of olive shades in the light and medium category.
Enjoyed you talking through your process. I have a very similar level of fairness as you but am definitely not olive. I’m neutral leaning warm. And Fenty 125 is a great match for me. So I think the 130 should work well for you. I really like the formula too! ❤
I do it a lot! Build up a cart and forget about it and only buy things if I’ve been really thinking about them, or it fills a need in my life. The top is actually from Ardene of all places! I can’t stand the feeling of sweaters and wool so I happened to go by there and find this super soft sweater/shirt that’s perfect for winter.
I love Fox! It's like burnt taupe, warm but not too much. I don't know that it's saturated enough for you. Fox is a unique color though, it's not as orange as you're hoping.
For texture and volume at the root you could try Big Sexy Hair Powder Play or Got2Be Powderful. Use like you’re salting a meal. Fenty Sof Lit is so so good. It beats my luxury foundations. I have 125 and 150 and I am a fair olive. I too get that feeling in Sephora. 😂
Oooh I’ll definitely check these out! I need all the help I can get with volume. Lots of people said good things about that foundation. Now I really want it!
I love this type of video!!! Would you show us someday all of your makeup collection? I am a pale olive girl too and 110 shade fenty beauty was a match!!! The olive one was veery dark unfortunately.
The merit blushes do sheer out and stay kind of dewy. I have fox and I love the colour because it’s a nice terracotta shade but it’s quite balmy with the amount you have to apply to get noticeable colour. I also own the Clinique gloss in black honey and while I think it has a nice thick gloss texture, I don’t actually like the look of glossy lips on me so I sadly rarely ever use it.
That Merit Fox blush is very burnt terracotta. You probably have a similar color or can achieve a similar color by combining a warm bronzer with a peachy or red blush.
Thanks! It’s the exact same eyeshadow from my “wearable witchy makeup” posted a couple videos before, using the Glaminatrix barely basic palette and the Natasha Denona I need a nude!
the next time you go in store, you should get foundation samples of the Huda and Fenty. that way you can see it in your regular home lighting instead of the horrible store lighting and of course test out the formula for the day to see if you like it ✨
I ended up buying the Sephora skin tint that is getting rave reviews! Although I have been eyeballing the Huda foundation. With the 30% off I think it was a great way to try a new foundation product - plus it was maybe $17. I, too, build up a cart and reduce once the day arrives (also a Rouge member lol). I only spent around $100 USD. I tend to save the sales for spurge items or new items I’d like to try because I’m already comfortable paying full price for my items I continue to repurchase (especially skincare).
If I may be so bold as to touch on the baby pink blush :) I might steer you towards merit Stockholm instead - that powder one looks extremely cool/blue based which I know for me as a warm olive would look horrible. Stockholm is so far the only thing in the baby pink range that has worked for me, and I feel it’s because its sheer, lacking a white pasty base, and because the pink itself is more neutral. So perhaps that may scratch two itches at once :) sometime in the future. My hunch would be that the recommendation for the pink powder blush came from someone with very cool olive skin 🤷🏼♀️ - on whom it would be very flattering. But of course, there’s always an exception so take what I say with a grain of salt 😊 Pinks aside, I always appreciate a good process video 💛
Ok I’ll definitely check out the merit one! I think I had problems in the past when the baby pink was too cool, it just looked so at odds with my skin!
you should get samples of the foundations to try before buying. I got my expected color match for the Huda foundation and it was way too light. The other thing is that Clinique has sales a lot on their own website that are often much better than Sephora.
I used to do that all the time and for some reason completely forgot that was an option. Thanks for the reminder! And thanks for the Clinique tip. Maybe they will have a Black Friday sale and I can grab the gloss then.
I don’t always shop this sale unless I happen to be out of something I need to repurchase or I’ve been waiting to get specific products on sale so I went in to my store this morning after changing my cart multiple times in the last couple days because I do the same thing you do I initially fill it up with all the things I think I want or I’m interested in and then go through and really look at what I want or need most at this time and what can wait till after Christmas and I ended up getting The hourglass vanish airbrush primer The hourglass veil setting spray Are beauty silky touch highlight in the shade exhilarate And I woke up this morning started to do my makeup and was out of my brow pencil so i repurchased the benefit brow detailer And the only thing I still have to purchase online is the dior stick foundation because they were out of my shade Side note yes I live and breathe for the nars soft matte complete concealer - best spot concealer ever
That’s a great little haul!! You will LOVE exhilarate. I use it all the time and it barely looks touched. I love how many people do this same method of filling the cart and then mulling on it. It’s such a good process.
The Black Honey mascara at Ulta is what I want, and the eyeliner. At Sephora, I ordered a lip mask. I do want abut thirty blushers they sell, but not getting them rn. Goddess knows I don't need them either.
I usually just restock my skincare & mascara & makeup removing balm. I'm not rouge anymore so the 15% off isn't much of an incentive to try new expensive makeup when Black Friday sales are just around the corner. Skipping it these time because I'm moving & anything I order won't be delivered in time.
After the struggle with foundation matching I am pretty sure I am an olive, but I think I may be a more neutral kind of olive and I cannot find foundation shades for me 😭😭😭 i want to try the fenty foundation but same with you I cannot tell what my shade is and I do not have them in store to swatch 😅
I think I’m pretty neutral too and it can be tough! And then I found when my skin got more tan in the summer, my go to olive foundation (Lisa Eldridge 2.5) was way too light and looked a bit off. I sometimes add a bit of the elf green colour corrector into neutral foundations and it helps a bit.
just picked up my order from the sephora sale and it’s most refills. there are so many products i wanna try but i only have one face and need to pan more
@evangelinemolly I am following r/muaonthecheap and one of the mods there pinned a Google sheet of most brands histories of Black Friday sales. (It's an amazing reference) Westman Atelier had a 20% off code last year, however, their blush trio is currently out of stock. 🙃
Yes!! Ive been building my cart for over a month and it has changed so much. Mindful spending is so important. I impulse added and bought the merit lipstick trio after i fell in love with them in store but otherwise, everything was needed :)
It’s so good to think ahead! Such a game changer for spending.
I loved this type of video!! It’s so hard when there are sales so it’s nice to see someone else talk it through to not buy everything impulsively! Def helps me out to go through it with my cart.
And then with Black Friday coming up… it gets overwhelming!
love this more chatty/commentary-type vibe from you ☺💕
Thanks! I’d love to do it more but not sure what to talk about. Hmmm 🤔
I love this. I bought the DM lightwork pallete for me, gifts for my nieces and sisters, and shampoo/conditioner. I feel super proud of staying within budget 😅
It’s such a great time for buying gifts!
Loved this video! I'm also trying to be more mindful when it comes to my purchases, but especially during this season with so many new releases and sales it's harder to resist going a bit overboard, so this was very helpful. Thank you for sharing!💕
And then with the Black Friday sales it’s so easy to lose control!
I really appreciated the mindset you had and I understand your feelings toward everything 100% Thank you for sharing your thoughts and for the video ❤😊
Thanks for watching! 💕
I have the Clinique Black Honey gloss and I love everything about it. The color, the applicator, the comfortable feel… perfection!
Ahhh I want it!!!
Considering you started with hair products in the video, would you consider doing a video on how you do your hair? I’d love to see it. Sure, I’ll do a hair tutorial soon! And don’t be hard on yourself, we all fall off the deep end sometimes and there really is something to retail therapy sometimes!
Absolutely NEEDED in this space!
💕💕💕
This is such a needed and grounding video, thank you!!

Yes, it’s such a great method! So many of us struggle with overspending these days
Oooh! I do have enlarged pores so this is intriguing to me. I need to get a sample, I totally forgot that was an option in store!
Loved this video! Definitely helped me feel like I’m not alone in my struggles regarding overspending. Decided to put myself on a strict budget for the rest of the year, so I’m only allowing myself to purchase 1 item from the Sephora sale which is a perfume that’s limited edition.
That’s amazing! I need to be more strict myself. It’s a lot easier when you can find other people doing the same, instead of just rampantly spending!
Thanks for watching and for the support! I’m going to hold off on the foundation too
this was such a soothing watch, really enjoyed spending some chatty chill time with you ❤️🔥
Glad you liked it!! 💓
Love your approach to this! PS I have the elf lip oil in jam session and the black honey gloss- and I totally love the elf one! It’s just perfect for every day. The black honey one is good but very pigmented and I usually go for subtle.
Ooh the fact that you said it’s more pigmented makes me want it more now 😂
I think you’ll love the Soft Lit based on the type of foundations you described liking. I just started using recently and absolutely love the formula.
I’m so intrigued!!
I have that clinique blush in pansy pop! It's so gorgeous especially paired with a cool red lip, but if you can get a similar shade with other productsthat you already have then it probablywont add much to your collection. Woah with a red lip! I wouldn’t have thought of that pairing but it sounds intriguing!
omg i love the clinique lip oil! i picked it up recently and its all ive been wearing lately
Ahhh it looks sooo pretty!!
I’m holding out for the Rituel De Fille sale, because I want some of their site exclusives!
Oooh yes!! Such a magical brand ✨
Ohhhh @00missdani00 when is the sale? I’ve been building a wishlist!

Hahha right. Soo much good makeup but only so many days in the week!
The fenty foundation in warm light olive shade is a tad bit too yellow.
It does seem a bit too pigmented for me!
I need to be talked down from the Westman Atelier Mini Blush Trio. I am also only a VIP so I don't even get that much of a discount 😢.
Will they have a better sale on Black Friday on their site? Something to look into!
@evangelinemolly I am following r/muaonthecheap and one of the mods there pinned a Google sheet of most brands histories of Black Friday sales. (It's an amazing reference) Westman Atelier had a 20% off code last year, however, their blush trio is currently out of stock. 🙃

Never bother buying foundations. Just ask for a free sample in store. I always do that and if i love it thenn ill buy
I’m so dumb I forgot you could do that 😂 🤦♀️ I used to do it all the time!
I'd like to know if anyone likes that Fenty shade
Some people have said it seems like it could be a touch dark for me… if that helps?
Don’t buy something just for stock up and it’s a small discount because 99% of brands offer better discounts on their products any day of the week 😉
True! The Black Friday deals have gotten so good
Thank you for this video. As a Canadian too, these prices are rough. 🥲
Always 😭
