Jamie - I'm just now watching this. Thanks for keeping it up here. I wonder how this offense would be affected by a zone defense that tries to resist chasing players around and getting caught up in pairs. Any thoughts? (He answers it a bit at 23:50, but...wondering if you have any other thoughts.)
Hey, yeah it's an old one but a good one. As for pairs concepts vs zone, they're great! Learning to play this way with 2man actions on and off ball is exactly how you need to play against zone defenses to be honest. And the natural actions of this offense are a great way to attack all different zone defenses. You really wouldn't have to change much.
@@jm3sports Ok...thank you. Maybe one for the idea box down the road: pairs offense v. zone D. Just some clips that would help coaches see how it looks when it works against zone. Thanks again! Your content is excellent!
@@coachwalsh2541 Good call. For now, draw on a piece of paper, 123, across the top and 456 across the bottom representing the defense. Let's start with shorties in 1 & 3. Then draw up the basic pairs motion: a dodge vs the 1 guy down the RH alley with a mirror, the backside will get a drift/cut of some kind, one low attack will cut the other will be at X, and you'll see how if you just keep playing out of this it allows you to play good offense, draw doubles, move the ball, make the d rotate, and dodge the backside etc. Next, just do it.. you'll see it's pretty intuitive for the guys
